Cell/cell pearl/rogue/ Virtual Energy
« on: July 18, 2009, 12:06:37 PM »
Which do you think will be the best for heavy oil, I know the cell is the strongest out of the four, but I am really wanting something that will be forgiving and hit hard, and that is going to give me the longest ball life. Based on those characteristics, which do you think is the best??

Of them all, the original Cell is probably the most forgiving, when talking about the stock surface.

The surface of any them will probably be dull for real oil, so its longevity will be more a matter of your taking proper care of it than anything else. All dull balls suck oil like a vaccum because that's how they work, in the 99% case.

All good balls...however, for heavier oil, all but the cell pearl would probably be o.k.  A sanded Cell Pearl would handle plenty of oil but the other three would likely be better choices due to their varying degrees of solid surface.

All will give you a relatively long ball life, if properly maintained. If you bowl primarily on heavier oil, this requires better than average attention to ball maintenance.

They all hit hard, they can all be forgiving with proper layout/drill/cover prep. I find the Rogue the most versatile/forgiving of the four, but all are really good balls.

Ball maintanence shouldn't be to much of a problem for me as I am very picky with my bowling balls. I wipe them after every shot and clean them after every set. Also doing the hot water baths occasionally as needed.

Thanks for the input so far, as far as forgiveness goes, looks like the rogue and cell solid are at the top.

I am still ancious to see what everyone else has to say so everyone let me know as I am taking all comments into consideration.

hi i have all cells. i had the origial cell drilled to roll earlier for me that is. i dont put alot of fingers or turn. i'm more of a stroker. anyways witht the rogue i've notice it shined up the more i bowled with it and thrown the ball in a pba shot practice league. so basically i would go towards the original cell cause of the coverstock. the rogue i would mainly used it for a good amount of oil at front and some back end to it. cell pearl its great for me when lanes started to break down a bit as long as there is some dry boards for the ball to make that turn for me.

so for heavy oil i would go for the cell.

It depends on the shape you are looking for. I personally ave a Rogue 2 Cells and a CP. I find the Rogue about 5 boards stronger than the Cell with the same drilling. The Cell will give you a stronger arc while the Rogue is going to make a stronger flip. Both are very good heavy oil balls, now it just depends if you want controlled backend or strong backend.

The Rogue or Cell Solid would be great for heavy oil, i find myself going to the Rogue for the heavy stuff but i have never thrown anything that likes to pick up early that well, the Rogue just rolls better for myself.
