Title: Roro Grip Cubic Cell
Post by: bowlingty on August 21, 2009, 06:27:52 AM
Does anyone know when this International ball will be on the U S market.  I saw one in action and it's a winner.

I do not think you will see the Cubic Cell as an American release.

Bowlingball.com had some, but I think all they have left now is 12 and 13 lbs.

I drilled one for my good friend and fellow staffer several weeks ago and he loves it! Last Tuesday on the Kegel Broadway he used it the last game and shot 268! This ball is a very strong rolling ball and has the usual Roto Grip hit and carry! The Empire is another great rolling international release!

Too bad it won't be released here in the U.S.  Everything I have read on it says it's an OG Cell on steroids.  I have one sitting here begging to be drilled.  It sure is one good-looking ball.  How are people drilling their Cubic?

I just picked up a Cubic Cell for my 12 year old son, who's in a Junior Bowling Program. He is currently throwing 12# balls and has a Link, Twisted Fury Solid, and a Dynamo.  He's been bugging me that he wants to go up to 13# and that the 12's are too light for him.
His average is in the 160's and he has been bowling for about 3 years now and he just been in  love with bowling since day one.
Yesterday he won a tournament for his age division and I told him before that if he won, I would get him a new ball.  Well I had to keep my word so went went to the shop and he actually wanted a Virtual Energy, but they didn't have any 13's.  So he took his time and read all the description cards, and was stuck between the Cubic Cell and the Plasma Cell.  The Cubic won because of the colors, lol.

Had it drilled up and he was so excited, so I took him to the lanes to try it out. Well all I can say is that he made a great choice.  We bowled 4 games and he bowled over 200 on every game!!!!  On top of that, the ball looks so cool looking going down the lane.  We even had one guy who was bowling a couple pairs down come over and ask what my son was throwing. Now with christmas and his 13th birthday, I know he's gonna be asking me for more 13 #ers.

Glad to hear your son is bowling well with his new Cubic Cell.  I'm probably going to be getting mine drilled Wednesday and use it in league on Friday.

Thanks!  You should love this ball!  If I didn't just order an AMF Clutch and Sideways, I would very likely be getting one for myself!

The ProShop where I picked up my son's ball said that it is an International Release. I'm not sure if it's "rare", but I have seen it advertised somewhere as such.  The shop had a stack of them, so it didn't seem rare to me.  They also had some other international RotoGrip releases as well like the Empire and Alliance to name a few.

I just drilled mine up last week and used it in two leagues so far.  Let me go on record as saying that this thing is a BEAST!  Man does it wheel and hit!  Much stronger than any of the three U.S. released Cells.  I wish I had bought another one...

Per Rotogrip spec, the coverstocks between the two are prepped differenly.  The cell pearl 1500 polished and the cubic is 2k abarlon.  The internal specs are the same.

Actually, the Cubic is closer to the original Cell in terms of overall hook and how much oil it can handle since they are both solid 2000 abralon Cytoplasmic reactive covers.  The only difference between the two aside from the colors and logos is that the Cytoplasmic cover on the Cubic is "a slightly different formulation" than that on the original Cell.  I have both currently, and for me the Cubic is a couple of feet longer and about 3 or 4 boards stronger on the backend.  Both of the Cells hit above average, but the Cubic just absolutely destroys the rack!

Sir Bowl-A-Lot, got your pm, but for some odd reason, I can't respond and it keeps kicking my response back to my own pm message box.  Here's the info you requested!  http://www.strikeemproshop.com/

You're right, it is close to the cell.  I misread the coverstocks.  If it goes longer it would make sense it hits harder because it should store the energy longer.  Now, the question is, which is more effective on long, flat patterns where the backends are only 20 feet in length?

Our house shot is 40ft (20ft backends) and it rules!  On longer, flatter oil I would suspect the original Cell would be a better fit.

I know mine is since it is stamped with the USBC logo under the serial number.

For whatever it''s worth, BowlingBall.com lists this ball (edited!) in 12 and 13 lbs BUT  their description is somewhat different from RG''s web site and it would explain the added length and snap in the backend:

Color: Copper Pearl / Silver Pearl / Black Solid

Admittedly it says "color", but if the ball is 2/3 pearlized resin and 1/3 solid resin, all finished to P2000 grit, the same as the original Cell, it might explain the added length and backend.

Thanks you for the correction. Sorry about that. I edited my original post. At least the info may have some bearing.
