Saturn Vs Cobalt Bomb
« on: March 16, 2006, 06:55:44 AM »
Ive been reading very good reviews on both these balls and was wondering what i should get.  Considering Saturn is half the price i was considering getting a mercury with it.  Not sure because i wanted to try my first Lane1.  How does everyone like their saturns?

Dont spend the extra money on that over priced piece, I have two saturns drilled differently with to entirely different reations and by far this ball is the most bang for your buck go with the saturn..  Excelent piece in the saturn Leave in oob it is very smooth and contiuous on med conditions to light.   You polish it which i ended up doing, it gets great length with verystrong controlled backend with wonderful hitting power that keeps pins low.  That said BUY THE SATURN!!

Boy do I love bowling, stone 8,stone 9, ringer 7,fly by 10,fast six got to love this game.  Short look at what most of my games look like with a few strikes peppered in between.  Isn't it wonderful.

How much different is a polished saturn than a mercury ... just a little more snap or is it a big enough to buy one of each or just 2 saturns?

the polished saturn is easily 7 boards bigger than the mercury I suggest getting both the sturn and mecury you will be completley satified.

I have a lot of speed with not a lot of revs so usually lighter patterns arent overly tough but not my favorite either.  I am able to still play comfortably on dry shots with my polished epic.  I think by polishing the saturn i can play medium and light without the need for a mercury but the saturn will be the first purchase. Before i was leaning towards the cobalt but now i think i changed my mind.  After all, i shot my 280 and first 700 with my epic(first roto) so why change a good thing, right?

Floods - Real Deal
Heavy - Epic
Med Heavy - Raging Inferno
Med - Deuce
Med Light - Saturn
Light - Mercury/Blue Gargoyle
Spare - anything (really flat hand)

i think its a pretty solid lineup

I think you could do a lot worse than a 3 ball arsenal of Merc, Saturn and Battle (all box condition).

Dave, is the Saturn that strong?!?

It looks as though both OOB, you could EASILY do a league (ths) 1-2 punch w/ the Merc and Saturn, yes??

That's what I am figuring on Revs.  I should get my Merc drilled this weekend hopefully.  Saturn's are hard to come by from both distributors that My pro shop deals with.

well i dont have nearly as many revs as you but it looks really good.  Because of my lack of revs, will i get a chance to use the saturn often enough in league?
