Cell Pearl vs Widow Pearl
« on: November 04, 2008, 11:46:05 PM »
Guys I know this is a broad question, but I am looking at getting a ball similar to the cell pearl but with more punch. How do these two balls compare if drilled up similarly? Thank you in advance!

The Widow is much weaker than the Cell Pearl and does not handle the volume of oil that the Cell Pearl can handle.  You can opt for another Cell Pearl with a stronger drill or adjust surface on it as needed.

I would have to say the same thing. Get a second CP. That ball is not comparable with anything on the market right now. It's absolutely stronger than anything else.

I've never seen a ball that hooks so much.

I agree, threw my Cell on Monday and decided I needed alittle more pop on the backend to carry. So I changed to the Pearl and after getting lined up ended 7 boards left with my feet and 3 with my mark. First time there was that dramatic of a difference. On Sunday bowling on a heavier pattern with carry down the Cell out hooked the Pearl by 5 boards. If you have dry backends the Pearl is as big a monster as I have every thrown.

(COPIED FROM HAMMER FORUM)

As far as I have seen the Cell Pearl is stronger, has more backend than the BW Pearl. The Venom is closer, but the CP still handles slightly more oil.

Honestly, can't believe you need a ball with more "punch" than a Cell Pearl. Unless the ones you've seen were drilled wrong or used on the wrong condition, there aren't any with more "punch". Maybe look at MoRich's Nsane or Ntense LevRg balls. They can handle more oil and have a ton of backend.

The Track UpRising also handles medium to medium+ oil, like the Cell Pearl, and while it is incredibly strong, it isn't stronger (more backend) than the Cell Pearl. Same for the Lanemasters Black Pearl Reactive.

yeah I found my venom and pearl to be very similar, and the venom, with my game, finished harder then the cell pearl. I need something that will go under my venom... the cell pearl and venom were much too similar.

Many people seem to think the BW Pearl is just barely below the Venom. YOu might try a slightly weaker drilling on a BWP to insure it does fit below the Venom.

Personally, if I need a goto ball from Ball #1 (like when Ball #1 started hooking too early or too much), I usually need a ball that at least 2 notches or levels weaker than Ball #1. So if i wanted a goto ball to the Venom, I'd choose the Cherry or the Emerald Vibe.
HOWEVER, if I was looking for a ball 1/2 notch weaker than Ball #1, when I was just starting to bowl, then I'd look for a ball 1/2 notch or level weaker (Venom to the BWP).
