Title: Rotogrip is impressive.....
Post by: agroves on September 21, 2004, 01:23:36 AM
I am a long time Brunswick fan.  I have always had the best luck with them.  Last April, I purchased a Sonic X pearl, which I've thrown 3 games with.  It has a special drill pattern that doesn't allow me to use it much.  I was pretty impressed with it even after a few games.

Recently, I walked into a bowling alley on vacation.  I used to bowl in this house once a year in tourneys.  Anywho, the proshop had a couple of Pure Fuels laying in the shop, NIB for $85.  I wanted to try another RG and this was the perfect opportunity.

I bought it, took it home and drilled it.  I set it up with the pin under the ring and mb between my thumb and VAL.  This ball has more backend than pretty much anything else I've thrown.  I used it out of the box(shiny) on a med to heavy 42 ft pattern with pretty good success.

Overall, I am very impressed.

Well I had my Pure fuel laying around for a long time.

Got it drilled pin near ring finger and slightly up.  Mass bias touching left side of thumb(near stacked).

Left ball scuffed to 1500.

THis ball is impressive in the size and smoothness of its backend!

Lately my house has discovered that they had a stripping problem for the last year(only on the left side) What a shock!

A certain lefty had asked some pointed questions regarding why the lefty righty differential was near 30 pins between the top guns in the house left and right.
I wonder who that was.

Anyway went in and for the first time since I got there I was able to get my feet deep in to the pattern and this ball amazed with the size of its backend and the incredible continuation.  I'm not sure that I love the higher rg on this ball for this 40 foot pattern but I must say that it is a beautiful thing to watch this ball move.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS this was the first time I ever saw a pearl particle successfully used on the left in this house - I was absolutely ripping them up with this ball!

I plan on it, I need something to handle some carrydown.

LL,

I have to agree with your comments on the Pure Fuel.  It continues to impress me.

When I found out that the Pure Fuel was discontinued I quickly found a couple of NIB's to put into storage.
This is one of my all time favorite bowling balls.

If you can't find a Pure Fuel, you may want to try an Apocalyspe.  You may get a reaction close to what you are getting with the Pure Fuel.

True...Apoc cover is actually a stronger cover than the Pure Fuel....pound for pound.......so to speak
