Title: scream or tropical breeze for the burn
Post by: archistudent1 on October 02, 2014, 05:53:15 PM
i want some opinions on what to use for burned up lanes. i throw a pin down lights out to start the night most nights i can use all 3 games. i got a shout to try when i cant and it was too much ball. thinking a scream or breeze. the scream is supposed to be a bit weaker than shout. i throw about 12.5 mph and rev. dom. what do you guys think. i prefer a smoother arc. our lanes dont seem to have much carry down it just dries up and the backends just rip left.

I've had the Breeze Hybrid, Scream, and Super Natural. In my opinion by far I would recommend the Breeze pearl or hybrid. I was at a tournament and during the second squad third game the lanes were scorched. I was standing on 30 swinging my uproar. I picked up my breeze hybrid which has the same layout as my uproar, moved right to 22 and had a great look as long as I kept my speed from getting too fast. Everybody else struggled and I finished with a 255 game.

Urethane shave their place. I like the core better in scream.  I have one and I struggle with it on my house shot which is also dry. The Breeze may be your better choice but I've never thrown one. I've got a lights out. It's ok but I match up better to the rotos side of Utah.

I love my scream solid (Factory polished)...never seems to be too much..as long as they are no torched.

Scream solid? As in the Shout?

Honestly, I don't recommend any modern covers for the burn. I would try to buy an older ball and drill it controlled. But if I had to choose one, I would try a Tropical Breeze Pearl with pin 2 inches from PAP. Also change the cover to about 4000 polish or even add a newspaper finish. Maybe Charlest will chime in on this part.

The Shout comes dull. First thing you should try, in my opinion is to apply some polish to the SHout. The Scream is the pearlized Shout; it will go slightly longer with slightly more backend than a polished Shout.

The Scream is 1/4 - 1/2 notch stronger than the Tropical Breeze. It hooks slightly more and handles slightly more oil. TB is for dry to light oil, while the Scream is for light to medium-light oil.

I would recommend a MIX with the PBA Plastic Ball Layout
At your speed only a core-less ball will do on the dry
