Title: shooting star and victory rd. solid
Post by: xrayjay on November 06, 2012, 02:52:45 PM
I enjoy throwing the "roads" and I missed out on the VR solid. And since the current thunder lines are hybrids and pearls, I purchased the shooting star in hopes that this ball will be somewhat close to the VR solid.

I took this ball out on 4 different houses/stadium with all being different surfaces and conditions. This low priced ball is early and smooth and makes controlling the backends on fresh easier to play. I enjoy throwing this ball on longer or heavier medium length conditions. When the lanes break down, I can chase the pattern until I get stuck - then I go into my bag and switch.

Also, I've tried it out twice in my second shift league. Both nights I started further in than I normally play, and though I was getting to the pocket, I just left too many corners on this SPL lane surface. Yet, I still enjoy throwing this ball.

Finally, I really like that fact that this ball has a different look compared to the other "roads" in the bag.  And I was wondering if the VR solid has a similar ball reaction to the Shooting Star. For those who had the chance to throw both these balls, what differences and similarities have you noticed.

IMO the Shooting Star is closer to the 2Furious than the VR Solid.  The Shooting Star and the 2Furious are a bit smoother at the breakpoint than the VR Solid.

The Manic is the same ball as the 2Furious - it just has different colors and comes out of the box at a different surface prep.
