Title: Show Off
Post by: AlonzoHarris on October 04, 2017, 10:30:15 AM
I'm guessing Wreck-em gets dropped after Christmas and we see a Pearl Show off and a Hybrid Dare Devil. What I'm also interested in, is the chance of probably seeing a Hybrid Show Off in March. Or, we get so lucky as to get both the Hybrid Dare Devil and Hybrid Show off at Christmas   ;D

Core numbers and shape make me think a hybrid Show Off will be a similar ball to the Storm Rocket, but at an HP2 discount.

If you’re right, I gotta put a hundo together by then to grab another Wreck Em to save. Ball rolls great for me.

I'm speculating, but with the Show Off core being new to that line and the Wreck-Em approaching a year old, I would be willing to put money on my prediction.

I have been reading that quite a few people do not like the Show Off. For me I did not like it either OOB.  Just too much playing out and not quite enough when moving in. I kept OOB 2000 and polished it with power house factory polish. So far so good. This  let me play way right without over reacting when hitting the dry. I think the ball will be limited for me to when the outsides are pretty dry. That is ok with me because most of my house shots are dry out and pretty wet in middle. I have ball between my Alpha Crux and the Affinity. Alpha money when there is some oil or usually early in blocks. Affinity great for the med/dry conditions. Also still have my IQ Tour and the Tour Pearl.  Time will tell with the Show Off but so far I am happy since polishing it.

Unrelated to this particular thread, but did you officially drop your Code Red then?

Yes sir I did. Tried every surface known to man lol  Some balls just don't work out for certain people.  I might be the only bowler who doesn't love the Code Red. Its ok.  Got a decent price for ball. Leaning toward the Matrix or Real One to replace the Code Red.

Ah yeah. I'm adding an x-hole to mine to see if I like it, then moving onto surface changes if still undesired. I'm also probably not buying any premium line asym's for quite awhile. I'm actually liking sym solids more than anything lately.

Any chance the Show Off is better for rev dominant players?

I've seen both rev dominant and speed dominant bowlers like the ball. The ball needs oil

Yeah, I don't think it's a case of how many revs the ball needs (like the Timeless?). Just the amount of oil. The coverstock is too strong for middling volumes or less.

It seems that Roto Grip has decided to "simplify" things and put 3 balls in each category. One solid, one hybrid, and one pearl. The only exception is HP4, where they currently have a solid, a pearl, and the urethane. I suspect we will get a hybrid later on. And that's maybe when they drop the wreck em for a new pearl.

The only issue I see, is that they may be going solid, hybrid, pearl, but I'm not sure they all follow as strong, medium, weak, like they are implying. And that's the problem with marketing. I still think they need to drop the HP naming scheme, or at least change it from "hook potential". It doesn't match up.

HP naming scheme definitely needs revisited.

Absolutely.  The line the ball is in has zero to do with it's hook potential.  The HP lines represent different core strengths, not cover strengths.  It's not likely to change, but it's going to keep messing up my rating system . .
