Sinister is a Must Have!

Roto Grip Sinister

Introducing the latest top of the line ball from Roto Grip, the Sinister. This ball uses the 76H coverstock wrapped around the new Cage Core. This ball out of box comes at a 4000-grit abralon finish. With this finish, it still gives the ball push through the fronts without sacrificing a strong mid-lane recovery. I was shocked that this ball was able to retain so much energy being a asymmetrical ball.

I drilled this ball with a 45° x 4 1/2″ x 30°. I went with this layout to get the ball into the roll and still have an angular backend motion.

The motion on this ball is the perfect complement to be between the Hyper Cell and Totally Defiant. At its out of box finish, you will see good push through the heads while still reading the mid part of the lane and still retaining energy as it hits the pins. I like this ball because normally for asymmetrical equipment they tend to die out when it hits the breakpoint, but this ball does the opposite packing a punch as it hits the breakpoint.

For me, I could see this ball coming into play on medium to heavy oily lane conditions. It will be good on the fresh on your typical house shot. For sport shots, this ball works really well on short patterns and long patterns. If you don’t see enough movement and is passing the breakpoint, don’t be afraid to surface the Sinister to 2000, 1000, or even 500.

Based off performance, I give this ball an “A-.” Based off looks, I give this ball an “A.” I like the colors on this ball. It looks like a wrecker with green added to it.

I wouldn't call the ball a must have but I will say that this ball is a house shot monster. I haven't seen it roll on a sport shot, but bowling on league this week my team bowled against another team where every member was throwing a Sinister. All of them threw the ball differently from a stroker to the two handed bowler and the ball looked dominant and their scores reflected. I think this ball is a winner if drilled properly and from what I saw I believe that it matched up well for all of them so I would assume it will match up to multiple styles easily.

I honestly won't get the ball since I already have a ball and another on standby that fills that space for me (plus I don't got money to blow) but I wouldn't try to talk someone out of buying the ball and if I bowl against someone with the ball I'll probably think to myself they'll be able to handle the lanes no matter what unless it's on the drier side.

The Sinister is awesome!  I don't know if there is even such a thing as a must-have ball, but it's so clean, and the continuation and carry is terrific!

I had to adjust my cover on my critical ( to like it ), the lucid was so-so, I hated the defiant soul, BUT I love the sinister.  Its that good.  Idk what makes it different...but I honestly can say they did their homework and they did improve upon their previous releases.

For me its a must have due to it's finish.  If you can take the shine off of another pearl in your bag...great. OR you can pick up a great ball to do the trick for you and give you that unique reaction that the critical gave us...
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

well, tried mine today for the first time, 251 for first game. with 655 series... not too bad for new ball and damn those ringing tens... well... didnt leave much other pins and no weak tens neither.

Gotta admit, I was pretty impressed the room it gave me. On the same condition, the rogue cell barely moved, the Sinister was very solid and gave me the best look. Just what i wanted, something that goes above the rogue cell.

I will say pretty much what others saw on this ball: easy length, good recovery, retained quite a bit for the hit.
