It can handle a bit of oil. Mine tends to arc more than flip. I wouldn't say it's a ball that works well on burnt conditions, it will make it's move too early.

I believe the Sonic X Pearl was meant for the dry side of medium, and the Sonic X Solid for drier shots.

This of course depends upon your release and speed.

Bob,

Be clearer, please. Are you saying the Sonic-X pearl can handle more oil than the Sonic-X solid? I just gave my Sonic-X solid away because it can't handle medium-light, no less dry lanes. Medium to medium-light, yes; but I have more appropriate balls for those conditions.

Bob,

No problem. Everyone's experience is valid, as long as it described in detail; so we can make good use of it.

I am seeing that the Sonic-X line is not for dry lanes at all, unless you have very few revs or very high ball speed or a little of both. For the vast majority, they are (very) good medium-light to medium oil balls. This is unusual in light of their very high RG factor. In this way they seem to be a lot like Brunswick's Power Groove series. The PG reactive, the solid particle and the pearl particle are all surprisingly strong balls, and yet they have very high RG ratings, even higher than the Sonics, 2.7 vs 2.6.
