SS Pearl or Crunch Time
« on: March 25, 2004, 09:08:39 PM »
I'm thinking of buying either a Silver Streak Pearl or a Track Crunch Time for league use on synthetic lanes, medium to medium-light conditions, a typical house shot.  I'm looking for more of a skid flip instead of an arc, which I already have with my Wicked BRT.  I throw 13.5-14.5mph typically, 180 avg., and consider myself a tweener.  Anyone have any experience with both of these balls, and what would you recommend?  Drill patterns?  I'm also thinking about a SS Solid for medium-heavy use, but that would come later.  Thanks.

medium light on the flippy side is going to lean towards the Silver Streak Pearl......I believe the CT is designed for more of an arc....

Have thrown the SSP on med-light.....big backend!

duvallite,

I have the Crunch Time, but have not YET thrown the Silver Streak Pearl. The Crunch Time does not arc for me at all, it is skid/flip. When it flips, it flips very hard on the backend, and punishes the pins. So that you know, my Crunch Time is drilled with the pin above the bridge and slightly left and the CG is kicked right about half of an inch. It is very strong. I cannot compare it to the SSpearl, but you cannot go wrong getting the Crunch Time.

The SS Pearl is a fantastic skid flip ball for the conditions you are looking to cover.  I have one with a 4" pin laid out over my fingers with the cg swung out towards my PAP a little bit.  I was bowling on medium synthetics last night with it and just crushed the rack.  I throw about 14-15 MPH, but I'm a tweener just like you.  Threw 13 in a row, with just about everyone going down hard.  The ball seems to really hit thanks to the late move down the lane.  Fantastic ball at any price, but a real steal as a medium priced piece of equipment.

Roto's mid-priced stuff is THE BEST bang for the buck, hands down !!
