Title: Suggestions for Care and Feeding of a SSP?
Post by: Jeeter on February 04, 2004, 09:24:41 PM
Hi all. I just ordered a new Silver Streak Pearl (from Buddies Pro Shop) and I am looking for any help on how I can best maintain this ball. This is the first non-urathane ball I have owned and I don't know how to take care of it. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

A very simple way to take care of it is just to clean it after every time you use it (not every shot, just every time you put it back in the bag).  I've cleaned mine approximately once a week, put at least 200-250 games on it, and it still reacts magnificiently, 775 last night on a China shot.

Jeeter,

A household degreasing cleaner works, 409, Orange Clean, Simple Green, etc...however, the best on the market IMHO is NeoTac Liquid Nitro! ($4.85 per bottle right now at wildoctopusbowling.com!) Use after every set, league or practice and your ball will stay clean and effective for a loooong time !

Also, for deeper cleans, use NeoTac Hook-It, and/or Renew-It, Hook it is a deep cleaner that keeps shiny balls shiny and dull balls dull.  Renew-It is also a deep cleaner, but has a polish in it, so you clean and slightly polish with each use.

Liquid Nitro after every set (this is like an everyday, energizer cleaner)
Hook it or Renew it every 3 weeks or so......

i definitely agree on the Neo-tac. i use renew-it ALOT with my black cherry bomb. that ball picks up so much trash its unbelievable. each week, i spend 10 minutes watching TV, cleaning the ball, and its good as re-NEW.

i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. does it carry the 7 and level the deck? did i just beat you? aren't i clearing the heads with my $60 ball?
