Oh the Outcry
« on: January 07, 2015, 05:21:55 PM »
Recently won this ball in a raffle at a local tournament and love the reaction so far. The last few years I have been set on throwing anything but Storm/Roto just based on how popular they are in my area and it is a fun little battle with my league team.

Don't get me wrong, I don't plan on selling my Pivot anytime soon, but I have not had a low end ball give me such a look in a long time. I am a classic tweener and how this layout fell being pin down gives this ball a strong but smooth back end reaction.

This week with the Outcry I had my best week all year and I think it is time to give it a compliment from the Storm/Roto family. Since my Pivot is super early and smooth and my Outcry is long and smooth, I would like a ball to replace my Cyclone and Legacy which are my current go to options when I need entry angle from deep inside. Right now I am considering the following balls:

Storm Punch Out
Roto Grip Wrecker
Storm HyRoad
Roto Grip Unhinged

I have not put the UpRoar on the list due to the fact that I would like just a touch more core when I get in deep.

I have the punch out.  I call it my nascar ball.  goes long and straight then makes a left turn, and hits very hard.

I would consider a Hysteria. You get the best of both worlds as it takes well to surface changes.  Mine works well in a THS. Rolls well and not flippy even OOB. Take the shine off it and it works well in oil.

From deep angles I'd suggest the Punch Out.  It's cleaner through the fronts than the Hysteria and has a sharper breakpoint which gives it more "punch" (pun intended).  The Unhinged and Hyroad may be a tad over/under from deeper angles like that.

IMO get the Uproar, I have both, outcry and uproar. The difference is that the uproar is very versatile, you can play inside the lane kind of like stu williams, slow but with nice hook, or you can play it straighter  throwing it hard and you will be sure it will come back to the pocket, plus I think the pin carry is better in the Uproar.

What grit unpolished do you have your Hysteria?  Mine is going too long at box finish.

I have an Uproar and it can really be great.

These two  videos shows  great comparisons.  One to the Uproar and one to the IQ tour Fusion at minute mark I am a believer that the Up Roar has little push.  It quickly tells you if it is going to work with area on any night.  The Punch out is a more classic skid flip light to medium oil pearl and looks like it can really bring the mustard from deep inside.

Much more than the UpRoar or the IQ Fusion.

I have also thrown in a demo and seen the Hysteria, smooth with a strong almost angular backend!  Impressive go long solid!

I love the outcry. For me, it's very versatile. I was thinking about getting a punch out to go beneath the outcry.

I am leaning toward the Punch Out now as well. I'm sort of surprised there was no love for the Wrecker, but really there are so many good options. One last idea was a Deranged, but it appears to be a lot of ball.

I have 2 wreckers, love both!  The deranged isn't that strong...I used it as my weak ball the other night on torched wood lanes.  Very different than the disturbed, as that one was pretty beefy

How does the wrecker compare to the uproar?

I have a tropical heat Hybrid Black Silver, same core as the Wipe Out, Punch out, and also the Fast, and the old Tropical Heat Pearl.

The Punch out has the super R2S pearl, the Tropical Heat Hybrid and Tropical Heat Pearl, and Tropical Heat Indigo Violet Solid all use a version of Reactor.

My impression is the Reactor is a little touchier!

Here is a comparison video of by Chris Forry of The Black Tropical Heat Hybrid vs a Tropical Heat Pearl.  Note the slightly stronger Tropical Heat Hybrid!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8QNkPiYpUw

I am surprised at how easily my Tropical Heat Hybrid pushes down the lane, I am much left(left handed bowler here, compared to my Freakin Frantic)  Much more skid flip than my UpRoar.  I may lightly scuff the surface!

Luckylefty
PS avoid the confusion, I also have the Tropical Heat Purple Black Hybrid and it is quite strong!  It is close to a solid, Smooth with a kick at the back!  The Black Hybrid is a pearly skid flip type of Hybrid.
PPS these balls with the Turbine core are very good but not my top choice from Storm for a wet dry top hat.  I just found it!  Amassing weapons!
