THANK YOU - CELL CONTEST
« on: April 30, 2008, 04:23:00 PM »
30 minutes to go!  LOL

I can't say Thank You enough!  It was extremely entertaining to watch all the videos and I really appreciate the creativity that went into each and every one of them.

The feeling I got watching bowlers from all around the world praising the Cell & Roto Grip just makes it all worth wild.

Thanks for being our customers.

To show my appreciation I'm going to give 1 FREE T-Shirt to every person who entered that isn't selected as one of the 10 finalists.

I'll post the link for the T-Shirts tomorrow.  You will want to check these out, very cool looking!

Now I'm going to bed.

A lot of great suggestions and some ideas for next time.  We really thought the American Idol format (you decide) was a good idea, but I'm going to venture to say now that it wasn't.

We will decide in the office.

Far be it for me to stop the conversation but I don't think anyone should have to explain themselves.  Nor do I think it is fair to blame anyone for the currenty voting turnout.  Lets try to leave it at that.  As bowlingmytmouse stated it is over $700 in free equipment and I can only imagine that need to win that.  I'm sure other people who saw videos climbing fast did what anyone would do...follow suit.  You can't blame anyone for that.

Thanks again.

The problem with the initial voting is, all someone had to do was make a bot, and blow everyone away.  If you had some kind of ip logging that only allowed folks to vote once it would curb it some.  If I had wanted to, I could of had my teammate spam the University of Iowa email list and I could have had 1000 votes in 2 hours, all from different ip's.  Then I could just say its cause I live on a college campus of 10,000 people.  Not that the other guy did that, but you can see how easy it would be.

You say I only score because I'm a lefty... you whine about the crappy shot... the same crappy shot I average higher than you on?  There are bowlers, people who try to bowl.  The bowlers find a way to score no matter the condition, and the people who try to bowl whine about the shot.

My wife and son wanted to vote for me, and I found that by simply closing your browser and opening it again, that they could cast their votes. You could vote untill your clicker finger wore out if you wanted.

I also think the number of views on the You Tube page is a moot point. I campaigned everybody I could think of to vote for my video,I'm sure they just voted and never watched the videos.I'm sure everybody else with a video told their friends and family to vote for theirs. They would be crazy not to.

I think you made a good choice by having the office staff decide which one they like the best. Simple and safe.

Good luck to all, and thanks again to Roto Grip.

Also for future contests I think that maybe you could have 2 categories like: one for just on lane presentation(For the people that just want to be graded on vid skills throwing a certain ball) and Dramatic(Those of us who want to do a little more).

I think its hard for the 2 to go up against each other.

Good point... really depends what type of video you prefer!  I didnt even think of doing an "acting" style one, not to say just as much effort was put into my vid  But i think if there is a similar competition again, I will do some acting.... not that any of you will be able to understand my accent!! haha

Loving this competition either way, ROTO GRIP RULES!!!
