Step down from a cell....
« on: May 06, 2008, 01:43:48 PM »
Right now i'm loving my cell, its really strong. And right now I'm looking at adding a few new pieces as I have some graduation money coming (hooray end of highschool lol) and really would like a piece better off the compliment it.

So any suggestions as a ball that would a step down, mainly a little stronger downlane and less overall hook potential.

Okay Roger,

I will take a shiny version of the Helios II core.  But only if the color is kickin'.  What color would you have in mind?

If the Saga and the Illusion share the same cover, isn't it a hybrid shell then?

The Saga is: Ultimate Vision Hybridâ„¢ Solid  Reactive
The Illusion is: Ultimate Visionâ„¢ Pearl  Reactive

So no the Illusion isn't a hybrid. If my mind serves me right, the only(U.S) hybrid balls that RG made so far are the Saga, Silver streak SE, and the Apocalypse. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Wow, this topic really took off.

Thanks for the comments everyone, a question to those who have owned/used both, how do the Pluto and Horizon Solid compare?

I really like the idea of the Cell, Fine Grit/Polished Solid, Snappy Pearl, Weak Pearl and adjusting surfaces as needed to give me a solid lineup.

I like the sounds of
Cell
The Solid w/ Helios II core or Horizon Solid
Illusion
Neptune

Along the lines of that, but its just guesstimation as of right now, an more suggestions would be great and i'll update upon purchase and use of the new stuff this summer.

Horizon Solid is a bit early and a bit smooth and a bit controlled and a great bit of hitting power!!

To me the Cell is a H. Solid on a bit of HGH.....I use the H. Solid when my Cell starts to jump too much.  The Solid fits right in and if you look at the reaction at the pin deck...it is very similar to the Cell.....just flat out hits....

The Pluto gets a little bit more length (H. Solid 800 matte...Pluto 2000 Abralon) but is still smooth and strong and very controllable.  I think the Pluto would give you a longer look than the H. Solid and the H Solid would be smoother off the break point (but the Pluto by no means is too sharp of the breakpoint).

My lineup is very similiar...

Odyssey - Silly strong on the back end ....
Cell - Silly strong throughout the lane...
H Solid - Smooooooooooooooooooooooth
Illusion - Loves the med to med dry and when the heads go...

Hope this helps somewhat!

Thanks for the reply, the detail was nice, it almost makes me wonder though if the pluto and h-solid at 2000 would be nearly identical.
