Saw the pic of the rush and OMG those are some ugly colors. Hopefully the ball in reality wont be that bright. Looks like new core though, change the color and I'd get one...

RotoGrip fan club members rec'd an email from Roger that contained a pdf file data sheet in color for this ball. It says the colors are Purple and Jasper Yellow - whatever. It is one ugly looking ball, but who cares if it strikes!

Wanna see a cool looking ball  click on the picture of the rush and highlight it as if you were going to copy it.  Sea blue with electric green.  Pretty cool looking to me.

The new Rush is definititely a different look than anything Roto Grip has or has ever had.  This is a super low RG ball with an all new solid reactive coverstock.  This ball definitely picks up strong in the midlane and really continues with a hard arc to the pocket.  I have thrown a few now and have noticed this ball truly does well on medium patterns to medium with carry down to heavier patterns and even some heavier patterns with carry down (depending on player style).  I am really excited about this ball as it is something very new for us.  For any of you backend nuts out there, do not think this ball is going to react like the SS pearl.  This is not a skid flip ball at all.  If you need control, with a predictable strong look, hard hit, this is your ball!

MG - So does this ball rev up like a V2 and how well does it retain the energy to the back end.  What surface have you thrown with it and what drill pattern have you thrown.

Doc,

So far I have used it on 3 different shots.  Not exactly sure about units but I do know the oil lengths.  All typical house shots.

1.  36 feet with medium oil volume.  less oil outside than in.
2.  40 feet heavy and flat.
3.  32 feet heavy in the front with an OB 5 board out.

I have been able to bowl on all 3 conditions with this ball with no trouble in hitting the dry boards to soon and still getting great continuation on the backend.  I have not yet matched mine up against the Top Fuel, but I did match it up against my Silver Streak Solid.  With the SS Solid I have to move 5-8 boards Left (LH) and the ball goes a good 2-3 feet longer.  I haven't done any testing with the CATS yet so all my analysis is based on what I see with my eyes.  All test balls I drill are layed out with a tall label pin position at 11:00 from the fingers.  This is about a 5" pin to PAP for me with the cg in the palm and the "MB" inbetween the first track line and the thumb.

I hope that gives you some more information.  I will post more later and if you have any other questions let me know.

Thanks,

Roger,

When you say, "With the SS Solid I have to move 5-8 boards Left (LH)",
does "LH" mean you are left-handed (it's not in your profile); so, you are moving further outside??

Thanks.

Haha Yes I am Left Handed.  So is Hank

I am sure that is going to open a can of worms...The Silver Streak Solid was going longer than the Rush and making a sharper move at the breakpoint.  My Rush flared about 4 1/2" and my Silver Streak flares about 6".

Thanks,

Cat's out of the bag now Roger !

So........is the Rush as strong, just not as angular ?? More smooth ?

Naturally because the Silver Streak goes longer and has a similar amount of differential that it will have more energy for the backend than the Rush.  The Rush really picks up sooner and has a very strong smooth continuous backend motion.

Karl,

I am not quite sure yet as I haven't matched them up right next to each other.  I can say that by looking at the core characteristics and by watching other people throw the Deuce that the Rush definitely gets into a roll sooner and makes a stronger defined move.  The Deuce might out right hook more, but in a different part of the lane.  I do think you see more mid lane roll in the Rush.

Mustang Guy, the Rush Core looks a little Track EMB ish what you think?.... they do have different RG factors before drilling.

I do recall when we were first designing this one that the EMB was the first ball that popped in my head.  But to be honest how many different core shapes are really possible with out getting somethign that might "look" similar?  It is bound to happen and has with many companies bowling balls.  The reaction of this ball though will not be anything like an EMB.

Hi Mustang, How would compare the Rush vs Top Fuel.
Title: Re: The Rush
Post by: Mustang Guy on September 24, 2003, 10:18:22 PM
My Rush definitely rolls heavier in the mid lane than my Top Fuel.  Due to the LOW RG of this core and our new coverstock this ball rolls sooner and handles some more head oil than the Top Fuel.  I still love my Top Fuel, but when you want flat out hook, roll and plenty of continuation with good hit on medium to heavier oil this Rush is it!  This is a must have in every bag as it reacts like nothing else.
