Title: Theory
Post by: Big Jake on May 10, 2012, 06:43:56 PM
Hey Rotoheads,
I took my Theory which was in the garage since I had used it a lot this past year and made a surface change to it.

I used a fresh grey scotchbrite pad to it and then used Storm #2 polish/1500 grit to it and then put a very lite extra coat of polish on it last week

and wow! this ball has been amazing for me. Last Friday in league I missed a 300 but got a 279 (12 buried pocket shots) and last night in league I missed a 800 series as I shot a 795 with it :)

The moral of this story is don't be afraid to try something different to your bowling balls as it just might pay huge dividends for you!

You are 100% correct. the cover is the main focus of how the ball will react. i always start with oob - then i adjust it from there. i have a Defiant that just didn't finish as strong as i wanted too. so after making some cover adjustments the ball  is working how i want it too. take big jakes advice, if you have a ball that just is not doing what you want, going to long, breaking too much, etc. adjust the cover! you just might have the ball that you've always wanted, but you already have it. you just didn't give it the correct surface.

The majority of my honor scores are after knocking off the oob finish.  Lol and my theory must be a zombie because after regular use...and three resurfaces....its still pumping out honor scores, it WON'T DIE!
