No Rules Exist Video from Hi-SP
« on: July 03, 2017, 11:53:33 AM »
Hi-SP in Japan recently put this video up.  Ball looks exactly like I expected, a big block Trick.  All the smooth controllable goodness but chuggier.  Really love watching Akio bowl, just a very smart simple style.

I wasn't sure what to think of the Exist, but it does look pretty good in this video. I'd definitely agree it looks similar to the Trick with more core

Seems like Akio was about 3-4 boards left at the arrows with it compared to when he was throwing the Sure Lock.

I felt the same way, couldn't get a total feel of it, definitely close to the trick.

On a completely unrelated note...I wish we had access to shoes sold in Asia because I think they look so much better.

I love watching the Hi-SP videos. More bowlers who are closer in style to me. Akio is close enough to my style that I can get a pretty good idea how the balls will react for me.

If this ball is what it appears to be, and should be, then I'm pretty sure it will be a great addition to my line up. The Trick quickly became my go to ball near the end of the season. Nice predictable reaction. It really allowed me to read lane front to back. Do I need the Exist? Probably not, but it hasn't stopped me buying balls before.

Hai.

I bowl on plenty of sport shots. Unfortunately, most video reviewers don't include sport shots in their videos for many reasons. Even if they do, they are usually limited to one or two. The only way you are going to get a true feel for a ball on multiple sport shots is to watch bowlers bowl at tournaments. You're not going to get that in a video review.

Personally, I generally score better on PBA patterns than Kegel, WTBA, etc. Not sure why. Maybe because I watch more tournaments on these patterns and have a good idea where to start and how they generally break down.

Even though balls are much closer on a house shot than sport, there are still differences. And since most of us bowl on house shots the majority of the time, it makes sense to see the ball react on the house shot. The only true way to know how a ball will react is to try it yourself.

This is why ball reviewers shoot videos on normal patterns... what's the point of all the extra time/effect when the overwhelmingly majority couldn't tell the difference, not to mention wouldn't understand how to play the tough shot, where to start, and how to adjust to the conditions of the challenging shot anyway?

Somebody help me out on this: I've never understood the purpose of the tape strip. What am I supposed to be looking for? I know that at release one end of the tape is in the PAP, but then what is it telling me? That the ball flares? Yeah, I get that already. Is it supposed to roll end over end at the finish or something? I often see it used on the Japanese ball videos but I can't make anything of it.

How quickly the tape starts rumbling tells you how long the skid face was and how quickly it starts rolling after that tells your how long the hook phaze was
