Totally Defiant - ball of the year?
« on: January 15, 2014, 06:02:33 AM »
I don't see how this ball made ball of the year. I had one and exchanged it for a Soul. I don't see any being used in the leagues I bowl in. I would have picked the Soul over the Totally, but that is my opionion. What do you think?

Remember they asked 250 pro shops. They voted (or should have voted) based on the balls they sold. Although I wonder if some, out of some misguided sense of loyalty, might have voted only for the brand with which they were associated.

This is TOTALLY insane! This ball is condition specific at best. I've only seen a few people throw this ball. I've seen Defiant Souls everywhere! And the Soul is whole lot more versatile. Unbelievable to me.

I love my Totally, but I love my Soul more.... lol

I have both, have had a great time throwing them.  The Totally for me is the second ball out of my bag when I need to move in and get something to recover.  The Soul is the first ball out of my bag for fresh.

doesn't make much sense to me, I've seen a lot of Defiant Souls and I love mine. I've only seen 1 Totally Defiant at my center and the guy isnt very good to begin with.

I agree with 2handedrook12. The Soul, IQ Tour Pearl, Primal Rage, and Byte would be the top for me

M y totally defiant was absolutely fantastic out of the box but after about 40, it mellowed to a condition specific ball.  I can see where people that totally to buy in leave early in its life them saying that it is ball of the year but anybody with some traffic on it will probably say otherwise

This seems to be typical of the Rotogrip products the last few years.

As for "Ball of the Year", in my area, it's obviously the IQ Tour Pearl. I see them everywhere. And no, I don't own one.

I haven't seen this at all, I do find the Storm cover stocks in general a bit more labor intensive compared to others, but if maintained correctly they last forever. I have a Nomad with over 500 games on it that reacts like it did brand new, thats why I still havent drilled the NIB Nomad Ive had for over a year. The only ball from either compmany I had "die" was the Mutant Cell, but all other with proper cleaning and resurface are keep going...
