How does the Totally Defiant compare to the Critical Theory when it comes to ball motion?
They have same RG at 15lbs of 2.49. Looks like the CT has a little higher differential and is matte, where as the TD is polished.
-
Not at all close --- I had a Totally and IMO it was to lane specific. It would go long and labor to recover ( at least for me). The Critical pushed through the heads and had a strong flip. So for me, the Critical is a MUCH better ball.

^^^^^^^^^What he said!
The Critical with its matte finish has a big, but much smoother move than the Totally.
The TD is extremely condition specific. You'd probably have to scuff it up to get anywhere near the same reaction as the Critical.
I believe you also have to be very selective in the layout you choose to put on the TD, in order to consistently be able to get use out of it. I would choose a strong, but controlled layout for it.

^^ What they said...haha. I haven't thrown the Totally but the few I have seen thrown definitely make it look like a hit or miss kind of ball. I'll put it this way, when it won ball of the year, my initial reaction was "HOW??". Not impressed from what I've seen from it. The Critical Theory on the other hand, is an amazing ball. The 4000 finish makes a huge move off the spot but never seems to be jumpy. I love mine and have a second stashed away for when the first retires.

Actually i like the Totally Defiant more than the Critical. The Defiant is first out of the bag on longer patterns with med volume or when i can throw it left to right @ the gutter. There the Critical needs alot more oil.

OK. Thx.
Sounds like the Critical Theory is the favorite.
Too bad a 15-pound NIB is nowhere to be found!!

I was lucky enough to see the semi finals and finals at the Senior tour stop this year at the villages.
Norm Duke near the end was using a or some Critical theories. Bunches of 279s off his hand! In one match he got beat by Tom Baker with a Totally Defiant (I think) 300 to 279 Critical theory.
Norm went on to win throwing another 279 I think somewhere in the finals. Whatever it was, he looked great!
It shows you how much bowlers love this ball. I have a plugged left handed one. Not sure what I am going to do with it.

Luckylefty
PS I bet you Norm can get his hands on a NIB one for you! Staffers still using a ball what 3 years after release!? Unheard of!

I have one, along with the original theory and infinite all NIB. Matched up really well the that line. I'll probably be buried with them one day. :)
Had a nib marvel too but the godfathet made me an offer I couldn't refuse! Lol

Oh and the critical is a beast, like they said. My sinister is pretty darn close though. You might want to look into one of those..
-
Also for me, its way closer than the defiant soul was..I MAY end up being more of a fan of the sinister. It seems a touch weaker, and therefore I'll get more use.
