Hi everyone, I just recently acquired a roto grip neptune with a 2 1/2 inch pin single drill, not sure on top weight yet. Well, I was wondering what drill I should put on it? I have a storm too hot drilled label, I was wanting my neptune to go longer than my too hot, but still have a little pop on the backend, not too much though, just enough so I won't be leaving a lot of ten pins. I was thinking maybe do pin 4 1/2 from my pap above my ring and cg towards the center of grip a little, or do a 5 x 4 above my ring? Let me know that you guys think, my stats are in profile

60 x 4 1/2 x 40 is the layout I put on my Counter Strike, and it does pretty much what you're looking for out of your Neptune. Decent like with a decent pop, no sudden snap but more like a hard arc. Considering the characteristics of the Neptune I'd say that should work out fine for you.

But the Counter Strike is VERY different from the Neptune, in cover and core. How can you compare drillings?

Counter Strike is nowhere near the same ball as the Neptune.
Neptune is a dry-light oil ball, a Counter Strike is a true medium oil ball.

If you put a weak drill on a Neptune, bye bye ball reaction, you now have a reactive ball that moves like a plastic ball.

Sorry, forgot to add my tilt and pap in my profile. Any way charlest, I can vary my tilt, but say more of a high tracker and medium axis rotation, I can change it when needed though. So basically if I were to do a basic label on my neptune that it would be what I am looking for? I was thinking a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 with pin above my ring, but would you guys suggest pin over or under, I know I am really close in determining what drill I should do, just wanted to get some opinions first

I have a 5x5 layout OOB finish on my Neptune and it is definitely a light medium to light oil ball that gets easy length and retains enough energy to consistently pop at the backend......as Charlest mentions here.

Thanks A_P_K, I think that I am either going to do a basic label or do a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 pin above ring. One more question, now if I wanted it to get more length than my too hot, but also be continuious on the back end, would I do pin below ring with a lower hole or do pin above and to the right of my ring, cg straight down and a hole just inside my pap?

I don't claim to be a ball driller, but I know which drills that I like. I don't know what speed you throw at, but if you are looking for smooth length in a drill. Check out the 5.5" drill, with pin close to the val.

BrunsNick uses it in his vid of the Copperhead on another thread, on this site.

Remember too, that the Orbiter core is a very strong core. So most probably you won't be losing a lot of punch, when you drill the Neptune for length.

This also means your pin will be a lot higher over your fingers than normal.

Thanks Jesse, the only problem with that drill is that my neptune only has a 2 3/4 inch pin, so putting the pin real high would not work, but I do agree with you about the core being real strong. I am thinking either to do a 5 x 4 under the bridge or a 5 x 5 over my ring finger.

Ooops, forgot to mention my 5x5 layout has the pin over the bridge with the CG right under it.

That being said it is about three or so boards weaker overall than my Illusion. The Illusion has a basic pin in ring finger label drill and also is in OOB state.

I tend to be a bit speed dominant, about 15mph-ish at the pin deck give or take, about 250 or so rpms so take that for what it's worth.
