Question about ball repair

My wife took her brand new Mars ball to league last night and on the first practice trow the machine hung up and held her ball burning the surface and the rubber on the finger tip inserts and in a couple spots literally burning down below the surface of the ball maybe a 1/32 or 1/16th of an inch deep. The center does not have an in house proshop and is going to send it to a nearby affiliate center that does have a proshop. My question is are they going to be able to get this ball back to like new condition? I know the finger tips will have to be replaced and most of the surface damage can be buffed out and brought back to out of box condition but the chipped or flaked looking spots.... can those be filled or repaired at all? i know with out seeing the ball it is hard to get an idea of what the damage really is but any ideas?

Most damage like that can be repaired. You won't see any change in reaction as long as the damage is not in your wife's track. Always sucks for that to happen to a brand new ball

I had a similar situation with my Grand Illusion last fall.  The proshop ground out the big gouge area and filled it with plus material and then resurfaced the ball.  I have not seen any change in reaction but would agree it still sucks to have it happen to a ball in the first month you have it.

I asked to have my ball replaced and the center refused, if they will replace it great but if not then what are you going to refuse to bowl at their center?

I think it's all about making a reasonable case about ball replacement. All bowling centers I have ever bowled in have had the policy (either posted or not) that you bowl with your equipment at your own risk. That said, if you have damage to your equipment that alters the performance of the ball, you're a league bowler, and you can prove that the damage is beyond aesthetic, you have a reasonable claim (and most centers will honor a replacement).

Heck if I get a new ball and can make it a week let alone a month without some decent size scratch thats why I like used I dont have that issue. I threw my first 300 with my awesome flip and it made it past the 1 month mark for me and the game I shot 300 it got a couple real nasty gouges.
