Ball Arsenal Help and Layout Help
« on: January 28, 2009, 03:53:57 PM »
I now have 2cells and cell pearl and was wondering about what would fit under htem maybe a illusion or grand illusion. The Grand illusion looks as strong as cell pearl on rotogrip website ball chart i want something just under cell pearl. Both Cells layout is 50x30x4 1/2 and Cell Pearl is 60x40x4 1/4. I track close to thumb so my pro shop guy said that i'm pretty much stuck with these drillings so i will have to do it will different balls. I had him drill a Columbia Jazz weak for drier lanes he drilled it 6inch pin from pap which pin ended up in my middle finger and cg in middle of palm. It tracked right over thumb hole. So now im lost anyhelp on any of this matter i would appriciate.

I have had the Illusion and Currently have the Grand Illusion, 2 Cell pearls and 2 Cells. Probably the best fit would be an original Illusion. The Grand Illusion can be step up or down from the Cell Pear depending on how it is drilled. Another option is to get another Cell Pearl and drill it weaker....

I use a Cell Pro CG drilled long with the MB kicked out right. I polished it and now it is the perfect 6 board drop from the Cell Pearl with the exact same motion.

first of all, unless you track on your thumb, or on your fingers you can use different drillings.  I roll on my thumb insert and use pin up, pin down, anything from 4 1/2 to 5 3/4 from pap.  you have a lot of options.  Go with that grand illusion.  it's a much weaker ball than the cell pearl, just on core alone.  drill it pin up, 5 to 5 1/2 pin to pap, adjust cover accordingly.

I personally like the Grand Illusion much better then the Cell pearl.  The Grand Illusion pin up cg kicked right reads the break point very well, revs up very easy, can play any line with the ball just chase the oil line and the coverstock adjusts very easily.  I didn't match up well with the Cell pearl and I continue to work with it, but it is not near as consistant as the Grand Ilussion.

are you sure he has your pap mapped correctly?

For you a 6" pin to pap doesnt have to be in your middle finger every time...
