Different formulas for coverstocks.

Sometimes even different companies used to supply / mix cover materials

columbia was pouring the roto and low end storm stuff for storm, not sure who or what is going on now

Wrong. Columbia only manufactured storm low-end balls and Dyno-thane balls. A Roto-Grip ball has never come out of Texas.
