Title: Why do you like Roto?
Post by: BackToBasics on June 06, 2007, 06:03:08 AM
Just trying to stir up some life in the Roto forum.  Summer time and lack of new releases have caused us to die down a little.

What are the reasons you like Roto? They can be anything you want.  Color, price, performance, etc.

Here are mine:

I like them because they're always reinventing themselves and coming out with something "new" when they do come out with new stuff.  If they are coming out with a new mid-priced ball you know it's going to be something genuinely new and not an 8 year old core wrapped in some leftover reactive coverstock from a discontinued series ball.  I guess I'm trying to say they don't keep reinventing the wheel.

My first piece from Roto-Grip was the Horizon Solid.  Excellent ball at a great price.  One of the smoothest balls I've thrown.  I recently picked up an Epic Battle on ebay that I am anxious to drill.  I want to get the Venus before the fall leagues start.  I think the Horizon Solid and Venus would make a great combo for a THS.

I like Roto Grip because:

1. They match my game. I'm bowling better with them.

2. Their high end stuff is great at a reasonable price.

3. Their medium level stuff is great...best value for the money in bowling.

4. No aroma's.

5. They last. They don't die like Ebonite's have a habbit of doing...as long as you take care of them.

1) longevity,tuneability of the covers
2) they don't just pump out a ball a month, they strengthen the lineup with each and every one
3) constant and never ending improvement
4) they listen to the average joe
5) customer service that exceds expectations

The main reason is that they out perform what you might think that they should do, Their mid-price balls out perform alot of others high end stuff. I think the Mystic is their best ball on the market, extremley strong ball for a mid-line ball

Product development has a logical progression and intelligent design (I lifted "I D" that from another thread sorry Greg T and righty)

When balls are re-released they are not hiding under another name and promoted as new.

Customer Service is above and beyond any other company.  Roger and Hank listen.

The people they put on staff seem to be smart, friendly, and knowledgable.

Best value and performance for the dollar on the market.

Yeah, it's almost an industry standard with other value performance lines.  Not to say that the balls aren't good because the majority of them are, but it's just nice to see some new R&D on something other than high end.  Seems like only Roto is doing it.

Roto Grip is an honest company. King of them All.

  • Roto Grip is a small company that caters to the needs of the Bowler. This allows them to have better contact with their end user - the bowler

  • Their limited releases usually mean something - giving an excellent selection of various reactions that are usable

  • When you purchase a Roto Grip ball - you will get more ball than is advertised; they are very conservative in their appraisal of their product (never over hype)

  • Any issues that might arise with the product are quickly and efficiently handled in a professional manner

  • IMHO, their products tend to yield more strikes than other products (through my eyes, can't prove this, of course) - they don't know how to make a weak coverstock. The mid performance and entry performance lines are incredible values in the bowling ball industry. (For my game - their high performance line, if one is able to find a condition to use them on - is more ball than can be imagined - Ultra Strong  [ref:Asymmetrical Maximus wb]) - good to have that option; if such a condition would magically appear

  • Roto Grip is an honest company - Ditto

I agree with all that KeglerX said. It's right on point for me.

1. You flat out get more bang for the buck with RG! Their balls outperform RG's descriptions, and I am never disappointed.

2. You can honestly build a very effective arsenal with Roto balls, which leads to them definitely being a bowler's type of company.

3. Can you say smmmmmooooothness! I don't have any other pieces that give me this kind of smooth and sneaky power, all at the same time!

4. Versatile beyond belief. I have used Roto balls on conditions that I was positively assured they would never work on.......and surprise......they worked anyway!

5. Very predictable and readable. You can't beat this for instilling confidence in a bowler, no matter what the situation and/or condition.

6. And tops on my list........reasonably priced. If I had my way, I'd buy one of every ball they ever made.....(I might also get evicted from my home, by my wife)...but if I could, I would.

I need some help. I do not want the Columbia or Track stuff made by ebojunk, so I want to try Storm or Roto Grip/Roto Star

Does Roto make their own stuff?

Are they made in the USA?

What is their cover quality like?

Do PBA guys use them?

I will not pay the high prices of Lane 1, Lane Masters, Morich, Elite, and Visionary balls are too hard to get in my area. Dynothane and AMF are gone and Banger and Insite I have never even see one of those balls in person.

1)Customer support that is second to none. I don't know if anyone has mentioned that.

2)Bang for the buck factor is great. The horizon was a big seller for us, but infact every RG ball was a big seller.

3) Reliable product, yet still cutting edge. Pushing the envelope but keeping it all still usable.

4) Sometimes being a small brand means not having over exposure. and ppl will want to know what makes them so special. not already have preconceived ideas about them.

5) Maxius 2 core is the absolute strongest and most angular Asymetric to come in a solid coverstock.

6) Kenna and Roger( hank as well). I call them up and i just say Tim from Montreal. Instantly they remember me like a cousin calling.

Blueraider86 the Roto balls are made in the USA they a manufactured by Storm. The are PBA guy like my self on the regional tours that do use Roto-Grip. The products unfortunately are not registered for the exempt field. The cover quality is one of the best I personally have Roto-grip balls with 1500+ games and still work great just like they were new. I have never had a issue with the quality of the products. As you can see from this tread Roto-grip has been good to lots of people. Any other questions feel free to PM me and I will do my best to answer them the best I can.

I like them because they have great performance.  Also, they provide some different options to my Storm lineup which I like.  Also since someone mentioned color schemes, they make some really nice looking pieces and like Storm they have really sleek logos.

I think outside of Storm's stuff, they have the most complete setup that I would be interested in.  Probably the best low end stuff out of everyone, the Horizon stuff is probably all the performance you can ask for and with a low price, and everyone loves the high end balls also.

dont know that anyone answered,
Roto's are made at the Storm plant
Cover quality is good, lasts long (goes back to being built at storm)
Roto did not pay the fees to use for the PBA guys (national tour) last year, its why you didn't see anyone on tv use it.
