Why so little love for the Shooting Star?

I drilled a Shooting Star a couple of weeks ago, and I've been very pleased with its combination of power and control, and its ability to handle both outside and inside lines.  It's become the first ball out of the bag for me, and sometimes the only ball out of the bag.
 
So where's the love?

That ball should get a ton more credit than it has.  Even though I don't own one, I have seen it in action plenty of times and is a ton of ball for the money.  I may actually get one at some point to add another option in the arsenal.

Back to the original point of this post.  With all the attention on the Defiant and Theory lines, balls in the other Roto groups often get overlooked.  I know I throw the Rising and Dark Stars a lot.  I am wondering however, based on some of the opinions on the shot in Baton Rouge, if the Shooting Star might not be a good option.  Smooth rolling symmetric cores seem to be the ticket.  Something to ponder before the trip.

Here in Utah we sell tons of Storm and Roto. For some reason it seems to have been overlooked a bit with the volume of balls being released, and the attention the high end stuff receives. Those that throw it seem to love it.
 
I can honestly say that much of the mid-priced stuff out there is very, very good. For the majority of bowlers, and the conditions we routinely see, you cannot go wrong with the Shooting Star, Rising Star, etc.  (My Massive Damage is an everyday work horse.)

The only reason that I haven't purchased one yet is because it will be a bit too close to my Outlaw. I have a friend who throws the entire current Roto line, save for the Rising Star, and the Shooting Star is his favorite in the line. He shoots 750+ almost every week with it.

Shooting Star is a great ball...............purchased one recently and drilled it up with a Rico layout. Threw this ball on a double shift burn the day after and could not believe the reaction I got from this ball. I decided to give it a try and plan to take it with me to Baton Rouge. (Considering what I am hearing regarding the shot this year even this ball and layout is probably more than whats needed.) For me, the ball, core and surface work well together. Adding the layout and I got a phenomenal look.Working from the left side of the lane throwing anywhere from 17 left to 25 I was pleasantly surprised with the continuous roll and hold. And no carry issues. We have some practice sessions coming up along with a USBC shot tourney and I plan to give it a shot. Then save the ball.
P.S. The first time I saw the ball rolled was in CDB's hands winning the WBT Finals. She had a great look.

I never thought I would ever see Ray throwing Roto Grip.  Welcome to the Kingdom!   Now we just have to convince him to get his hands on a Defiant also.

Heh, funny you should mention the Defiant...JustRico's been working on me to get one.  
 
Gotta admit it's looked good out here at JANBA.  Saw Leanna Harada go back 10 for 280 one game with it, and the guy with the All-Events lead has been throwing one.  So we'll see.

Shooting Star is a very good ball.  Like someone said, mid or low priced balls don't get a lot of attention, but most of them are the bread and butter "money balls" on house shots.
In fact, in our tests, the Shooting Star was even better on a tough, long sport pattern.  
 
We reviewed the ball with video ball reaction on THS and Kegel Autobahn.
