Winner and Winner Solid Gone
« on: October 16, 2019, 10:12:24 AM »
Looks like Roto Grip dropped them from their site today or yesterday. I'm guessing a new announcement is coming soon, probably a solid MVP. Or maybe a pearl, that would be interesting with the original being a polished hybrid.

Anyways, the Winner series wasn't a long-lived line. HP2 is the most fluctuating category lately. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before a stalwart core is found for there too though. They've been nailing everything else.

Maybe it's just the nature of what the focus has been on - high RG, strong cover balls. Stuff like that seems to have a hard time matching up with a lot of people. I like them, the original Show Off has been a really nice piece for me (when I can actually throw it) and there's been other balls from other brands in a similar vein. Does anybody else have thoughts on the matter?

I've actually never thrown an HP2 line ball. If they announce something interesting here, I might go ahead and give it a try.

Hopefully no ugly color combos though please.

HP2 line is the best bang for your buck.  Winners were hit and miss for people, but you literally won't find better value elsewhere if you're looking for hook and performance for the price.  Yes I know I sound like a commercial, but it's been this way for a while.  Now this obviously doesn't guarantee that the ball is going to work for you . . but if you want a cheap ball that acts like a more expensive one, that's what I'm getting at.  Won't find more hook for the price anywhere else.

Absolutely. I think it was the Wrecker that first really started that bang for the buck trend that they've thankfully continued. The Outcry has been my favorite overall HP2 ball so far. Not a big hooker, but I could use that on a lot of conditions.

Hmm... wonder if it will still have a VTC coverstock or something different. And a two-piece Roto Grip ball is interesting. Not sure that's happened in a while.

If i remember right the Disturbed was a low price big hook ball.  never got one, but remember seeing them all over the place.

MVP is another example, its stronger than the Wreckem and i loved me some Wreckem

Not sure on coverstock... Just its 2pc and the core looks like it could be the Showoff core.

This reminds me of when Roto Grip had the Rising Star/Shooting Star in their HP2 line. Both had strong covers and matched up to where it was a ton of ball for the money.  Eventually the Neutron core ended up being modified.

Some balls you are sad to see go but not so much with the Winners (hard pass on a case).  Looking forward to see what replaces them though.
Here today.  Gone tomorrow.

I wonder if it is bringing back the old Silver Streak Modified Rotary core.

the one ball i saw the most of in high school was an hp2 ball. the wreck it. 5 people on our team had one and at least one person had one on every team we bowled against. the only hp2 ball i would have liked to try was the show off. i love a strong cover but i don't always need a ball that flips over like a lifted truck going around a corner at 70 miles an hour
can i AXE you a question
