Title: Wreck-it questions
Post by: Metal_rules on June 30, 2016, 11:42:23 AM
This ball is the one intriguing to me.  What I would like to know (staffers, anyone) if this ball is anything simular to the Rising Star. Please compare these two if possible, along with the general ball reaction itself, oob, dull and polished. Thanks.

When you compare the Wreck-It to the Wrecker at rotogrip.com, it seems very similar.
I am not sure why it was necessary to come out with something so similar, unless Roto Grip felt the Wrecker coverstock needed an update.

The Wreck-It is a Hybrid with a dull finish. The Wrecker was a reactive pearl with a highly polished cover. The 2 will compliment each other great.

The Wrecker was also a hybrid, not a pearl.  So add polish to the Wreck-It and what do you have?  Can't be too far off from the Wrecker.

Hard to say. It does have the coverstock that the Hustle S-A-Y uses so that's a good place to start.

I wonder how similiar this will be to the outcry.

So this ball is a wrecker with a dull cover, correct. I would still like to know if it is similar to the Rising Star??

To me the wrecker was stronger than outcry cuz stronger core ,the wrecker to the rising star are very close but cover on wrecker made it more skid/flip where the rising star was smoother off spot,so I'm guessing the wreck it will probably earlier and maybe more backend depending on the new cover match up

I'm fairly new with Roto/Storm. How does the Wrecker compare to the Hy-Road?

For me the wrecker Hockey sticks, and the hyroad kinda arcs, and just rolls predictably...

and handles less oil.

Since cover and surface are 70%  of a ball's reaction,
if they had the EXACT same coverstock, the Wreck-it would be a sanded Wrecker.
Since they don't have the same coverstock, we don't know what their relationship is ...

UNTIL we see some videos of both, drilled the same, with the same surface, thrown by the same bowler on the same oil patter.

I did that to my Hy-road and I love it even more without the polish.

I looked on the Roto site and compared the Wreck-It with the Hy-Wire and using their comparison tool, it shows that the Wreck-It and Hy-Wire are similar strength where I thought the Hy-Wire would still be a little stronger

I've always thought the comparison tool they use seems kind of too... compact to be useful. Doesn't give you a good look at what the differences in ball motion should be and lots of stuff looks the same or really close to it.

I'm taking their comparison tool with a grain of salt. I don't trust what they show or what the matchmaker suggests either.

I just thought it was a little interesting

What are the distinct differences between the Wreck-It and the Devour.  Is it just cover only?

Thank you for the input on the comparison between the Hyroad and Wrecker. Even though I don't own the wrecker, I had a feeling that it would be longer and flippier than the Hyroad. My Hyroad is pretty flippy and I knocked off a little of the shine with a 4000 pad. It's not as flippy but still makes a pretty strong move. I guess the Wreck-It will be my ball up or the IQ Tour Solid

I was always curious how the Wrecker compared with the Frantic...

Ive drilled multiple Wreckers for myself, its one of my favorite pieces for house. Really love it when I can get left and toss it to the friction. From what ive heard from staffers, the Wreck It is more overall ball than the Wrecker. The knock on the Wrecker was at times could be a lil over under, and just too sideways. The Wreck It adds a little more cover, gives you more strength overall and allows you to blend the pattern with a little more control.

yeah the rising star was polished like the wrecker, WHAT ABOUT A POLISHED WRECK-IT??

it would still have a bit of midlane and be mellower than the wrecker on the backend.  kinda like the eternal vs skid.

try a wreck-it plus polish....that would be your closest rising star!

Wreck -it with polish is what I will do if I decide to get one. I have to get the Snap Lock first  ;), then we will see if I really need the Wreck-it :-\?
