wreck it vs. hy wire
« on: July 31, 2016, 08:14:29 PM »
i have a hywire and i'm seriously thinking about buying a wreck it but i don't know if they will overlap too much since the specs for them are so similar with the only difference being that the wreck it has a slightly higher rg for the 15 pound equipment and comes dull from the factory. if you were to buy both of them would you use the wreck it as more of a benchmark reaction and the hywire to open up the lanes? i had a hectic that i liked the reaction but wished that it flared a little more to control the midlane and it seems as though the wreck it is what i'm looking for since it has the same basic core.

has anyone thrown the wreck it versus the hywire to give me any insight as to what direction i should take?

militant02,
I'm curious about that also. I guess the Wreck It is to new to get much feedback. I have thought about the Hywire to go above my Hetic, but would really like to know more about the Wreck It also.

i compared the hywire and the hectic when i had both and even though they both were easy to get down the lane and the hectic wasn't weak by any means the hywire rolled a little earlier because of its lower rg and slightly higher differential. it controlled the midlane better and had a noticeably stronger move on the backend especially when i missed outside because of the stronger core and coverstock also. it wasn't a night and day difference between the two but they are different enough that i would prefer the hywire on slightly higher volumes of oil and the hectic on slightly drier or shorter patterns.

i never owned a wrecker but from what i understand it saved most of its energy for the last third of the lane but i'm hoping that matte coverstock of the wreck it makes it roll up more in the midlane and smooths out the reaction somewhat so that i can go to the hywire to open up the lanes as the lanes break down.

I here ya. Our league pattern is usually 39 to 40 ft medium lite oil. The Hetic is almost to much ball on that pattern. I have to stay under it to control the back-end, or move left and swing it out. I'm hoping the Wreck It will be a little earlier and smoother. I made the mistake of going Pin up on the Hetic and the entry angle at times is way to acute.                      most of the time I resort to an old RG Sonic Boom for a more controlled reaction.
