your best ever ROTO GRIP ball?
« on: February 25, 2012, 01:31:12 AM »
The title speaks for itself. what do you think is the best ROTO ball ( so far ) past / present and why? I have recently started to use Roto so my pick is the CRITICAL THEORY -  very consistant, seems to be my go to ball most of the time. I have 2 Criticals with different layouts. The RISING STAR is just as good as well so I may have to say both are the best.

I have had a few Roto-Grip balls in my time.I really enjoyed the Destiny which was an overseas ball.Very aggressive and versatile but died so fast.I am now throwing an Illusion that has become my benchmark ball. This ball is simply amazing. When I first bought it I didn't care for the polish on it.Too much over under.I took it to 3000 abralon and I woke up a sleeping giant.I haven't shot under 660 since having the ball.Best ball hands down.

Definitely the Epic Battle for me. The best heavy oil ball I've ever thrown. You couldn't put down too much oil for that beast. Bring back particle!

It's looks like I'm in the minority but for me the best Roto ever was the original Epic.  I tore up the local tournaments with my Epic until it finally cracked and I would kill to find another one.  I've several other RG balls (Oracle Vision, Epic Battle, Mercury, Cell, Cell Pearl, Rogue Cell, Riot, Nomad Pearl, Infinite Theory, and Critical Theory) and while I've liked most of them, none have given me the same look as the Epic.  I felt like I could throw that ball anywhere and it would find the pocket and it absolutely crushed the pins.

Nomad Pearl. Could use it on any condition, and feel comfortable.

Why no love for the SD-73.  Best ball ever for those of us that are rotationally impaired.

I just picked up the Defiant, what a great ball, I enjoy throwing this ball, it far out performs any of

my previous balls, I am a low rev stroker looking for all the help I can get on heavy conditions, this ball

gives me the movement I was looking for not a lot, but just enough where I can face up to the pocket.

For Me on drier conditions, this ball really shines with the low revs.

<div>update from my subject post ---- I will say the Rising Star has really been working well lately for me  --- i cant really use the Defiant very often. Critical is good but the RISING STAR is the best for me. </div>

On top of really enjoying the Nomad Dagger, I have to say that the Defiant has become my favorite with heavy oil.  I bought that to replace my VG Nano and have noticed a cleaner look up front.  Also, it is more predictable off the spot and carries better.  That has absolutely become a must have ball for me on league nights since the house will put down the flood.

For me the order goes like this:

Pure fuel, shot my high series of 775

Cell, win the washington state open in 2010 with that ball, making no moves with feet or mark I shot 754.

Rs-1, just an all around great pearl ball to have. I'm on my second right now.

Retro resurrection, I bought this ball single drilled on thurs and shot 300 with it my second game, almost have had 3 more since then. This is the best rolling ball in my bag right now.

I also own an Rsp and a rush.

For me it was a 1-2 punch that I carried for about 2 years, Cell and the Grand Illusion...

Best back to back years of my bowling career... 20-300 games and 12-800 games in those two years and averaged over 240 for those 2 years... I hated the day I had to give away those two balls... More recently, I have fell in favor with the Rising Star and Defiants... I have 4 Defiants and 2 Rising Stars I use primarily in leagues and tournaments....

RG 4 LIFE for this GUY!!!
