AfterMath Cover alterations

Hey guys looking to calm my AfterMath down at the break point a little bit. Right now drilled pin over bridge MB Swung out 3 inchs OOB Surface, and it is a very angular, very strong ball. I like that strength but the angle is a little extreme.

Do you guys think hitting it 4000 abralon would calm the BP down a little bit? smooth it just a tad that is all I am looking for.

Probably not Mainz .. its 4000 OOB.

You could try a balance hole close to the pin if the layout allows, but think about it first as you say in your profile that you use it over many conditions.

I love a ''3 Finger'' layout for early to midlane roll with smoother backend, to me its much preferable to freakish pin placements.

Mainzer,
    As you know, I don't have one of these, but here are some suggestions you could try:

1) Actually take it down further to like 2000 or even 1000 abralon, then hit it with the 4000 pad again. This will, hopefully start the ball a little sooner, smoothing out the reaction.

2) Take it down to 1000 abralon then lightly polish it. The polish over the lower grit will again start the ball sooner the polish alone, it might still have the angularity you are looking for, just not as pronounced, especially of you hit with full polish (like you could shave in shiny, lol).

Could try these first before the weight hole as these are reversable the weight hole really isn't. Hope it works, good luck.

We went Jorge's idea but a little more extreme, 500 Abralon first, then 4000 using the Storm Surface Factory.

The Cover has some more teeth now, hope that gets it to roll just a hair earlier and smoother.

Go 500 then 2000.

I polished an aftermath to use on a house shot and i dislike the reaction very much. Too smooth. Just leave it box and when you hit something longer it is an animal.

Let us know how it works! My AM is very hit and miss this summer (lack of oil!) and I would love to smooth the reaction out a little.

Okay Brought it down to 500 abralon then back to 4000 nothing in between. As Drrev indidcated the ball is angular no matter what you do but the cover adjustment I used mellowed it to the point where the reaction wasnt out of hand. Reaction now is a bit earlier a touch smoother still very strong off the spot just not quite as much.

AfterMath was used on the Shark pattern both before and after the surface change. Both times the pattern was fresh. OOB Surface I had to play deeper to avoid the heavy volume on the outside of the lane, a nasty over/under reaction was prevelant during the first couple of games IMO due to the flipiness f the ball, New Surface allowed me more room at the break point, I had a board two extra at the BP didnt have to be nearly as perfect. I also was able to play a little straighter with less over under. Mind you I still was playing 20 out to around 12 with modified surface, Line played with the OOB surface was closer to 25 out to 15. Still had the easy length through the head hit/carry were the same. I like the new surface as it will be a little more useable across more conditions.
