Title: Nothing on Photon?
Post by: Jorge300 on November 19, 2014, 12:17:23 PM
I am surpised there hasn't been anything posted about the new Photon Low Mass Bias yet. Has any staffer gotten it yet? Any first impressions? I tend to like smoother rolling equipment and this seems like it would be that, but wanted to see if it that held up in real life.

I am guessing in the future we will see a High Mass Bias version as well?

Thanks everyone.

Umm... the high mass bias version is the bull series. Same core but they modified it for the photon

Mine are on the way to my door as we speak, I attempted to put the poster up but the server wouldn't let me.

I guess I jumped the gun a little, sorry about that. For the past few releases I have seen/heard about them here before getting an email from Seismic....that wasn't the case here.

I am overdue to start a thread in the USBC Forum to see where the checks are from the 2015 Open anyway  :P .

SVstar, good point  :-[

Thanks guys.

Also using the Venator Pearl cover which hasn't been used on the Horn Core. Really wish I could have thrown it today.

Jason How did you lay yours out?

I originally did 55*4.5*40 but shifted everything a little cause I was going to take it only half the pin and didn't like that. I got to either take it all our none. I moved everything down need to go back and get the new DA. I was going to throw it Thursday but has a situation and hopefully will get to throw it tomorrow.

Just threw mine finally. Forgot the camera so no video unless I can grab someone to hold my phone for a shot or two. If you have thrown the Desp TSE it reminds me of that just a bit stronger on the back end. Nothing to angular and still has that Seismic control. You can move in and play a tighter line and the Photon still creates the angle needed to carry the corners. Only a couple games but happy so far. First pearl since the Euphoria I have liked with the OOB surface.

Had every intention on filming today following thre high school practice. After the kids were done with their 3 hour practice, every lane in a 60 lane house, the shot was gone. I didn't want to put up a video without it being on a fresh shot. However I ended up finding a great line playing 28 to 15 with the Photon. The ball was able to get down the lane with ease and carry the corners, however did leave a hand full of 9 pins. I would definitely not be afraid to use this ball on a fresh THS or in later games of larger game set.

Wouldn't shooting on a burnt trashed lane condition show more about the ball (supposedly a light-medium ball 15 lb. 2.58 .030 .011)  show more of it's ability than shooting video on a fresh house lane condition?

That was on a very burnt house shot. Venator wouldn't have held the pocket on that. I did their the Venator Pearl a bit on the same lanes and was about 5&3 left with my hands up the side of the ball a bit.

Most house shots these days are light-medium and what a majority of what bowlers bowl on so I feel it is good to show what the ball does on everyday seen conditions.
But I did put these shots up on a burnt condition so people can see that it can be used on late shift oil and end of 6-8 game blocks with having to play the entire land.
