Raging Bull Drillings
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:07:17 PM »
This started in the'' drilling and layout'' forum, I thought I might get more help here...

I have a Raging Bull on order, the core is nothing like we have seen before.. Horn Core (or Dr Who K9 as I see it)

The core's secondary PSA looks like it will be at 30deg to Pin and also with a high intermediat diff im looking for info from anyone who has drilled and thrown one, and if reactions are same as standard layout reactions on asym cores.

Also my PAP is 5 3/8 by 1/2 down, so I have to watch what I am doing or the ball could do some funky things down the lane.

The patterns i want this for are long (43 to 45ft) fresh oil. ie Route 66 or Dead Mans Cure

Cheers MB

I have not drilled or throwen  one but I will be ordering one at the end of the month. But I can speak from experince using Seismic.

I owned the Requiem and have used that for two years as a oil ball and it is incredibly strong off the spot and reads the lane through anything you can imagine. And the Raging Bull is stronger than Requiem.

For my Requiem I used 70x4x40 dual angle layout which put the pin above my ring finger and the MB out about 1 1/2 inches from my thumb and it was more ball than I needed with that drill pattern. It came out only on the heaviest patterns i.e. the 50 foot US Open pattern or the PBA Shark Pattern and the US Nationals pattern other than that is stayed in the bag.

I know that is not the answer you are looking for but I hope it helps a little bit.

Out of curiosity, I submitted the inquiry to Seismic and got this response:
Thanks for the email.  The Raging Bull comes with drilling instructions,
however, despite the unique shape and design, the physics involved in
determining layouts for given reactions remain the same regardless of the
core shape, so you can you any asymmetric layout sheet.

If you would like any advise on the best way to lay out this ball for your
own style please feel free to get back to me and I will help you get the
best out of the Raging Bull!
