Author Topic: Looking at Seismic - First balls (Read 2451 times)

I have followed Seismic a little, but never invested in a ball because at the time I was bowling in a few PBA Regionals and didn't want to fall in love with a ball I couldn't use there. But now I have moved and am not near any Regionals, so I am coming back to Seismic. I saw Buddies Pro Shop has a deal on two Seismic balls, and I was looking at getting the Requiem and Aftermath combo.

Now, I believe the Requiem was designed as a longer/heavier oil ball correct? And the Aftermath is more length/more angular? If correct, then similar drills would give me a good step down with the Aftermath when the Requiem becomes too much.

Also, just wondered if anyone has any drill advice on these? I am 18MPH, about 380-390RPM, more up the back of the ball/more forward roll then around the side. Without seeing me, know it's a crapshoot, but thought I'd ask. I was thinking of drilling both on the label, more of a stack drilling. Maybe a dual angle drill as well....just not sure.

Basically, I am hoping that the Seismic world on BR's can give me their impressions on these balls and push me over the top to getting them, lol. Although I have seen a lot of good reviews on the Blackout too, lol. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I have a Aftermath Pearl and I can tell you that my Aftermath Pearl hooks about the same as my Storm Reign give or take a few boards, depending on the lane conditions. But my Aftermath has a much, much stronger mid lane move than my Reign, and they are drilled the same, with my favorite ball drilling. Reign more skid flip and when my Reign slides past the break point, my Aftermath with the mid lane will usually work.

I have two AfterMaths and two Requiems. I gotta say both balls a very strong.

Requiem IMO is the stronger of the two, rolls earlier and is smoother off the spot. the AfterMath is longer and stronger off the spot. I think the AfterMath is better across more conditions than the Requiem, with the way I have my stuff setup (check my profile for details) But both are very very good. Both are carry machines also.

We have about the same ball speed and revs I come off around more than you do though by the description you gave. So I wouldn't hesitate drilling them they way you were thinking. Brace yourself for the backend of the Aftermath in the OOB condition can be...violent...at least in my experince with it, I had to take one down to 2000 abralon to smooth it out.

The AM is a beast, I have mine at 2K to smooth it out a little, but it is still very angular... unless you are looking at a lot of time on very heavy oil you might want to consider a AM and then a AMP or even a blackout. The requiem is even stronger than the AM... I think of it as like having a Invasion and a Virtual Gravity, they do compliment one another but really only on heavy oil.

I am actually kind of happy with my Medium Oil equipment. I havea Hy-Road and an Anaconda. My heavier oil balls are where I was looking for an improvement. Especially for Nationals and longer/heavier Sport shots.

Mainzer, I will definately take a look at your drillings and see since we are close.

Anaconda is an INCREDIBLE ball. I too am interested in Seismic pieces. I'd love to try a blackout.

Requiem and aftermath will both be great choices for Nationals.

I used a Requiem last season had 1822 all around.
