Hello to all! First of all before I start this review, I'd like to thank everyone on this board
for all the help they've given me. I've been on this board since May this year and my
knowledge of the game has changed alot with the expertise and opinions of bowlers
alike on ballreviews.com. With a combination of different types of reviews, I've come up
with this one. I have read reviews from practically everyone on this board and it has
helped me tremendously with the format. I hope that this review will help others in the
future. Good luck and good bowling to all in the ballreviews.com community. Feedback
on this review is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Ram

Right Handed
STYLE- Power Player with Hi Revs
SPEED- Medium-Fast
TRACK- High Track (1/2" inch next to middle fnger and over edge of thumb)

BALL - 15lb. Storm Eraser
PIN - 3" inch
COVERSTOCK - Sanded with 1000 grit (wanted to try something different but not too dull)

LAYOUT
4 X 2 With Weight Hole in P.A.P
CG Placed 1/2" right of ring finger and CG kicked out to the right

LANE CONDITION BALL TESTED ON
Wood Lanes
Oiled 5-5 with drier boards outside of 5
Backends start moving at about 45-50 Feet

Hello to all. I've had this ball since December 2000. I originally kept the ball with it's
out of the box polish finish but I decided to dull the ball a bit to see what it would do on
heavier oil. The house I bowl at doesn't oil very heavy, but at times they oil pretty long.
I used this Eraser on my Tuesday Night League, First Shift with fresh oil.

I usually play deep with alot of area to swing, but with the longer oil, I didn't have that
luxury. I could've played the outside but I wanted to see if this ball could wheel in the
oil so I ended up playing a deep inside line, but this time tighter as opposed to bellying
the ball to the outside. I started the ball around 20 and swung it to 10. The Eraser with
the dull coverstock gave me a good read as it rolled through mid-lane and gave me a
nice little snap(not too violent) in the back end.

As the night went on, the heads started to get a little lighter, so I put more speed on
the ball. I was surprised how the Eraser mixed up the pins and was forgiving when I hit
the pocket light. It slapped the head pin around and carried light hits for me most of
the night. I was suprised to leave only 1 ten pin the whole night after adjusting my
speed.

During the last game, the heads started to burn up even more, so I decided to stay
with Eraser. I moved left and started the ball around 22 where there was still some oil
to play and still kept my ball speed up. This got the ball out longer and once it hit the
dry it made it's move.

Overall, on this condition, this ball didn't have an over/under condition. It was a nice
match with the way the ball was layed out. Pin about 1/2" inch to the right of my ring
finger and cg kicked to the right towards my P.A.P This makes for a 4X2.

This ball is a different story shined up. For the first 8 months I had this ball, I left it out
of the box shined. The reaction is noticeably different. The ball Skates even further
down the lane and makes a more violent snap at the end.(Goes long and snaps hard
as our Fellow Poster CLUTCH would say hehe) I don't suggest using this ball for heavy
oil since this ball skated all the way down the lane in a tournament I bowled earlier this
year with a very heavy pattern. Maybe the Erase-It might fare better on Heavier
Conditons. With the duller finish on the ball now, the backend reation is tamer, but still
retained it's hitting power(especially on some of the cream puff light hits).

Hope this review helped out. I am looking into getting another Storm Eraser. This ball
seems to be one of the Favorites. Great Mid Priced Ball for the money. Versatile,
Affordable, Fun!

I have had problems carrying the 10 pin (Righty) on dry lane conditions.  It wasn't uncommon for me to leave at least five 10 pins a game on dry lanes (which for me was the diffrence between bowling a 180 game and a 220+ game).  I tried bowling different lines, changed ball speed, changed balls, and changed my ball rotation all without success...the ten pin would not fall frequently.  After reading several articles and getting advice from some other bowlers, it was suggested that the I use a 14lb ball instead of a 15lb on dry lane conditions.

I purchased a 14lb Eraser and used the Storm Front drilling.  The Eraser got good length, reacted nicely in the midlane, and carried well (goodbye 10 pin).  I threw a couple of practice games on dry wood lanes to see what the ball would do (221, 206).  I then went to another bowling alley that had synthetic lanes with a dry condition and bowled a three game series (247, 209 with 2 open frames , 214 with 1 open frame) for a 670 series.  In summary the Eraser is an exceptional ball at a great price.
You will not see me on the PBA Tour, but I love the game!!!

First Review....and first reactive resin ball!  Pearl Rhino was my last ball....yeah I know, It's
been a looonng time.

Storm Drilling #1 16 lb.
I'm right handed, medium speed, medium high revs, outside line player, I've been looking for an all around ball that can satisfy most conditions, with dry conditions
being my worst enemy.

Just picked it up today and rolled a game during my lunch hour.  Not much to go on, but I've been
away from the modern technology and wanted to post my first experience.

Dry synthetic lanes-
Revved up for my first shot, original line, right foot on 15, fade to the right on approach a touch and
toss her just inside the second arrow.  The ball went nice and long even in dry, but she snapped
and I barely caught Brooklyn....WOW, welcome to the modern age of bowling Jeff!!!  The rack
carried even though it was a light Brooklyn, which I was impressed with.

One adjustment to the left and BAM, I found my line.  After 3 in a row I decided to see if I
could adjust to my original line.  So, I changed my release point ( so I'm not so much underneath the ball)
I was more behind it, same revs just different axis and the ball went long again and snapped controllably
and predictably right in the pocket and I buried another 3 in a row!  By the way, it hit like a ton of bricks too!

Now, considering the ball only has one game in it, and that it was only one condition, I'm not going
to give this ball a total rating just yet. However, with dry conditions being my nemisis, I was able to
totally control this ball which is VERY promising.

So far so GREAT on the Eraser.

It performs great, looks even better, and smells like a bowl of citrus !

I'll post another review after I've experienced more conditions......I can't wait

I have recently decided to drop down to 15 lb. equipment, so I'm going to have to completely restock my arsenal (darn it all).  I've got some of my other stuff on eBay (item 1034021750), check it out if you'd like.

Back to important stuff...

Specs:
3 oz. TW
3" pin
Box finish
Drilled 5 1/2 X 5 (pin over the bridge)

One thing I had decdided with my new equipment, along with dropping weight, is that my other layouts were burning up too fast and only worked on house shots.  Therefore, I drilled up the Eraser for length and recovery.

I got it.

Bowling on a 34' fresh house shot, I learned one thing real quick....the Eraser is a TON of ball.  With this drill, I COULD NOT pitch it too far out.  I got recovery no matter where I threw it.  Smooth through the heads, the Eraser got through the mid-lane nicely, but when it hit the dry, man, I haven't seen hook like that in a while.  At one time, I was sliding in the right ditch going coast to coast with it and throwing scouts.

For anybody looking for a powerful ball at a good price, I can't see anything better than the Eraser (well, maybe the Erase-It would give it run).  Smooth through the heads, good transition, and HUGE backends.  I may have to drill up some more with tamer layouts just do see what all this ball can do.
Where are all my 2001-2006 posts?

The Dude likes this ball and you get alot of bang for your ball dollar, good for high revs that like to play the outside in the dry, good for slow and the rev challenged that like to play a tight line. Sanded or Polishing can make this ball a monster or a kitten. I have had mime for over a year, and used it for about 8 months constantly. Then i changed layouts, for most of my stuff but left this one and Put Reaction Plus(Ball Cleaner and Polish) The Ball was dying on me some times, still had pocket power just wasn't hooking enough for me. The House changed shots and bought a Phoeix Lane Machine, The pattern was real heavy and the ball be came obsolite, I changed to the Vortex 1 and problem was solved. But i Had this ball and didn't wan't to give up on it. So, i gave It a Small Coat of Black Magic. She is the best Dry/Fried lane ball every, i drag it to every torni, just in case, and use it as Spare ball, in my different leagues. I trust storm and have fallin' in love with the Tour Power, But it is proving difficult to get here in montreal, Sept. 11 Has Made it very hard to get stuff from the US, Companies. My pro shop have about 80 Different things on back order form Storm and other manufacteurs.

I have only bowled 9 games with it so far but so far I am satisfied with the results I'm getting.  I am a medium rev stroker.  I throw around the tenth board and stand 3 boards right of the center arrow.  With this ball I throw around the 8th board and stand 5 boards left of the center arrow.  It has a lot of backend.  The lanes I bowl on are oiled to about 40 feet and the last 20 feet is bone dry.  The ball has a lot of backend.  Comes in really hard.  I love it!  I had the the Brunswick HPD and it doesn't have as much backend as the Eraser.  I was suprised about how strong the Eraser came in.  You for sure get moneys worth.  It did take me a few games to get used to it.  I average around a 180 and my first two games were in the 140's.  The other games I bowled a 188, 193, 173, 213, 173, 188.  It's nothing spectacular but I think it is good for the first time bowling with it.  I expect it will bring me lots of big games.  I am 15 and it's the start of my third year so I have plenty time to improve.  I will post an update when I get a better feel for the ball.  Till then, Good Bowling everybody!

HI! MY FIRST TIME HERE BUT THE BALL IS WORTH THE LOG ON, I'M NEVER HAVE BEEN A GUY OF FANCY DRILLING OR PIN PLACEMENT. ALMOST EVERY BALL I HAVE HAD IS BETWEEN 1 & 3 ó clock AND 1 TO 2 INCHES FROM COG FOR THE PIN. THE BOWL IS FOR MEDIUM OIL ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY BUT THAT IS MAINLY THE CONDITIONS I GET ON ANY BOWLING CENTER HERE AT MY COUNTRY OF PUERTO RICO.SINCE IT CAME OUT ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO THE 700'S SERIES HAD RAINED, AND EVEN THOUGH I BOWL 2 TO 3 TIMES A WEEK BETWEEN LEAGUES AND TOURNAMENTS, ON MAY 19, 2001 I SHOT (WITH IT OF COURSE) MY FIRST & ONLY 300. CASH HAS ALSO STARTED TO COME IN MORE OFTEN FROM TOURNAMENTS SINCE I STARTED USING IT MORE. CONSISTENT, RELIABLE 7 POWERFUL. IT'S GONNA HAVE TO BREAK IN HALF FOR ME TO STOP USING IT.

#16 lbs. This is a good finishing ball. very consistent on medium to light oil or as a spare ball.it has a hard time coming back unless you take the outside line in moderate to heavy oil. have rolled some consistent 185's which is 10 pins over avg.ball is drilled for a strong finishing arc.

Being a just above average 180plus for 30plus years and going thru
dozens of bowls, I can't imagine anyone with any bowling experience to
speak of not liking this ball.
I ended up after a few months use on med oil lanes going back to get another
one drilled for breakdown conditions at my regular league house. My driller
changed configuration with a weight hole right at axis. He used to bowl pro
and can watch a bowler throw a few balls and really doesn't pay too much
attention to standard drilling, rather the individual.
That said, I now have both erasers for the changing condition and haven't
had this much fun in years. These are very forgiving balls for the once or
twice a week bowler who's timing isn't right on. It's still challenging but
these balls roll so consistently figuring oil flow is much easier to me now
You can buy two of these balls for the price of one of many of the others and
I've no doubt some of those hit harder under the right condition but the value
built into this product cannot be overstated. Highly recommended!

See my profile for style.
Drilled pin above ring, 4.5x4 drilling.

The best bargain in bowling along with the Erase-it.  Same covers as the Trauma balls with cores that have similar specs.  As indicated by the number of users and reviewers, it is one of the most popular balls ever.  The Power Ball core has been used in various styles in many Storm balls and hits hard.  The med/low Rg and high differential gives you a ball that will roll fairly early and have some power.

I wanted the Eraser to be my medium to some oil ball and it is.  Due to my lower speed (15), I found it to be too much for dry lanes.  This is a strong ball if there is dry for it to hook off of!  I dulled it slightly to make the reaction smoother off the dry.

Consider your ball speed and the lane condition you bowl on, and this ball will work well for everyone on some condition.  Lower speed players should be able to use it on medium to oily.  Medium speed like myself can use it on mediums.  Higher speed players (18+) should be able to use it on fresh with backends, or drier conditions.

I've had this ball since the beginning of bowling season started this fall. (2001) It is a 16 pound ball with 3.14 ounces of top weight and the pin is 1.5 to two inches from the cg. I had it drilled using the Cold Front pattern on the illustration that came with the ball. There are three ways it says to drill the ball this way. I chose number three which states on the sheet, "CG west-southwest of pin puts the mass bias near the track for more length and a controlled backend reaction.
This is completely different from the other balls I have had drilled for me. The others are all drilled to go long and have a strong backend to the pocket. I wanted this ball to be a little tamer. The result is that this ball still hooks harder than the Nasty Nail Extreme I bought at the same time I bought the Eraser. The other difference is that the Eraser hammers the pins. The Nasty Nail Extreme is a darn good ball and it hits the pins very hard, too, but the Eraser erases the pins into the pit. I want to use this ball more, but I need to throw the ball with more speed to keep it in the pocket. I haven't used it an entire three game series, but I used it the last two games today and bowled a 229 and a 236. I average a 201 at this house. The 229 I missed a ten pin in the ninth frame and the 236 game I buried it in the pocket my second ball in the tenth and an eight pin was staring back at me. Believe me, this ball doesn't leave many ten pins and I was very surprised the eight pin stood.
As for my style I'm right handed, stand at either the 23rd or 25th board depending on the house, and roll it out to five before it begins it's trek to the pocket. This ball doesn't disappoint. I'm hoping to use it a lot more. I probably should polish it to take a little of the hook off of it. I rate it a very strong nine of ten. It crushes the pins!!!!
By the way, the other balls I've reviewed are all 16 pounds. I believe I didn't include the weight in the other reviews.

The Eraser is a perfect ball for people that bowl on Mid. Oiled lanes

Hit your mark and it will plow through the pins.

It is a great ball for everyone that constantly bowls on mid. oiled lanes.

Just picked this ball up this week... with a little help from the reviews posted here.

  Ball specs:
  16lbs
  Top weight @ 4.02
  Pin @ 3-3.5

Drilled for strong back end. Pin placed 1"(kicked out 45deg) above ring finger; cg right of palm, weight hole further out on axis.

Typical house shot; Medium to heavy oil from the 10's, lighter spread to the ditch, down to 45', clean back ends.

Everything advertised about this ball is nothing less than spot-on. I'm a down-and-in bowler (see profile) and this ball fits the bill; long and big snap to the pocket. All you need to do is to set it at your mark and let the ball work its magic. Even if you pitch it out a bit, it has the motor to make it back home. Wow. Had a 256 this week and I can't wait to get used to it.

Good job, Storm and great job everyone for the posts... keep up the good work.

This ball does about anything you want it to do. I can play inside or I can swing it at will.  The breakpoint and carry are easy to read.  I would suggest this ball for medium oil.  Watch out for out of bounds.  It has a tough time recovering from oil on the outside.  Drill it to go long.
overall - med oil: 10/10
          heavy oil:  7/10
          light oil:  8/10

AWSOME ball, for the money, it has to be one of the best balls on the market. I for one refuse to pay $200+ for a bowling ball, so i did some research on mid priced balls and chose this one and i made a great choice with this ball. don't get me wrong, i used to buy the top of the line balls when i was younger, and i am sure there has to be some advantages and disadvantages to the higher priced balls, but like i said, best money i have spent on a ball since the original X-calabur came out (another ball ahead of it's time). I can play a number of shots, and i have this ball set up to go long and snap at the end, but i can play just about any shot with this, it works best on medium shots, but if you can swing the ball, it hits like a truck on dry lanes. i'd recomend this ball for the in betweeners, it seems easy to control and gives good carry and hard hits. my average is about 205 in 3 different leagues, and i like the fact that i do it with a mid priced ball
