This is one of my favorite Storm Balls.  It is fantastic for the dry conditions or the short patterns such as the PBA Cheetah.  I bowled my first 300 with this ball.  The ball is laid with 4" x 4", with a shiny surface.  I usually start off with the a little more aggressive ball, and when the lanes start to break down.   I switch to the Rapid Fire Pearl.  Everyone should have this ball in their arsenal.

My Street Rod Pearl is laid out 4x3 with the pin under my bridge.  It gives me a more controlled hook when the lanes start to dry out.  I use this ball when my Hy-road is hooking too much and this ball gets me back to where I need to be on the lane for maximum score.

I picked this ball up along with the Solid version to see if I could get that reliable 1-2 punch in my bag. Layout looks like this

I took the cover on this down to 4000, to compliment my solid without having the hockey stick motion.  I will tell you that this ball is 3-4 boards stronger than the solid but it still starts up great in the middle part of the lane.  If you read the review on the solid then you can get an idea of where im seeing a little more motion out of this.  I do believe that this ball can provide me with a great look on so many different patterns with minor adjustments to the cover or hand position.

bought this on clearance for house shots drilled it using the rico layout

stats check profile

fresh house shot:
this ball is very clean threw the heads with a nice move to the pocket. works really good going up 10 light,and flush hits are strikes high hits the normal 4 and 9 pin seems to stay a lil more regular than other stuff

burnt up house shot:
the layout on this ball allows me to fire the ball hard and firm with lil hand up the boards but is a lil jumpy, with a move to 18 out 7 this ball is a beast it carries phenomenal

impression:
if you find one of these balls buy it try the rico layout it really is a perfect house shot ball clean strong and hits hard just what everyone wants right. really if you liked the fired up and spitfire try it its stronger and not quite as angular but very good ball

No ball could match my preferences any better than the rapid fire pearl. For bowlers that throw fast and crank hard, this ball is the ideal weapon. It goes long and snaps hard. I'm a palmer, cranker, and throw at fast speed. I like to roll over the 5 to 12 board at the arrows to the 1 to 5 board at breakpoint. Yes I do love to stay outside of the oil from start to finish LOL. This ball makes a monstrous turn and strikes at a heavy angle, producing awesome pin action.

I'm not technical with layouts but I have my pin placed above, slightly to the right of the ring finger, and the CG below to the left of the middle finger:

Some reviewers were right about this ball not liking oil, but, pearlized coverstocks aren't necessarily made for oily lane conditions. But this ball does overreact when the lanes are torn down or dried up, so be sure to have a good back up dry lane ball. It's a shame that they don't make this ball anymore, and leftovers are still being sold in online shops and Storm doesn't even have a Fire line of balls anymore

I will try and post a vid to demonstrate how the ball works as soon as my computer can get fixed.

5x4 pin just below ring finger. I wish I had punch this ball long ago.
It give me a great length and good snap at the backend yet with control.
I used on reverse block and was able to ride the outside oil and still comes back if I don't throw it too hard.
on house shot this ball let me stay at same line alot longer than my Big B C-2.5
I get the same amount of backend from this when compare to C which is drill 45 x 5 x 30 pin above ring finger.
I take Rapid fire over C anyday. maybe I need more games on the C but as of now

Got this ball from a guy who didn't like it. Here's how the layout looks:

The ball at OOB finish is very smooth through the oil with a nice predictable and strong backend movement.  It wasn't as snappy as my Fired Up, which was a good thing, we drilled it to go longer, but it actually hooks up a little earlier then we thought.  I haven't had great success with it, but it is a ball I will pull out when the lanes are a little drier and I want something smoother off the breakpoint.  No this ball doesn't like carrydown, but what polished ball does.  Yes it was an upgrade from the Fired Up for me, but still not as good as my Hy-Road or Eraser in comparison.
