Drilled 4x5 with a 2" pin buffer... First off let me just say I was extremely excited about a new low rg, pearl/asymmetrical in the Storm family!! For those of you who loved the original Paradigm and still love the Agent, your going to be in love all over again in a new way!!
Just got back from the 2008 Storm Utah Open in which we found ourselves on Brunswick Anvilane, with a very demanding tournament pattern!! Nothing right of ten, not to steep to the spot, scores were kept at the right pace in my opinion!! Getting a ball to face up to the pocket was extremely difficult, but not for the Gravity Shift!!
Used the Gravity Shift to shoot a 288 in qualifying and locked up the high-roller entry contest for high game of the whole tournament. Not too bad for 636 games bowled!!
The Gravity Shift has a tremendous midlane and a punch on the backend that pins will fear!! The ball features both brandnew R2X Cover(more durable)and a more dense Shape-Lock HD weight block. With the 2.48 rg and the .052 diff it gives this baby motion that you will not see from other pearl/assyms...
In conclusion, DON'T WALK, RUN TO YOUR LOCAL PROSHOP and pick one of these gems up!! For the Storm Faithful I know your already losing sleep waiting for this ball, but for those in question it will not disappoint!!! I quote Ferris Bueller "It is so choice, If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up".

I just recently drilled a Gravity Shift over the past weekend and boy oh boy does this ball curve.  I have a 2 inch pin and I drilled it with the pin about 3/8ths underneath the bridge of my fingers and swung and the cg out.  This ball reacts very smooth when it comes off my hand.  I have tried it on a variety of patterns.  On the house shot we have (37 feet) which is pretty easy.  It reads the pattern very well.  I can send it right and it will not overbump. And when you move inside of the fourth arrow it does not lose energy when the pattern breaks down.  It keeps on going and that's what I really like about the ball.   I also tried it on the USBC Open pattern they had in Reno and I played up the 5 board with it and when it came off the spot the motion was just awesome.  I tried it on the Scorpion pattern and I had to get it to 3 or it would check real hard.

So like the other poster recommends run very fast to you local pro shop and get this ball.  You will not be disappointed.

Box specifications:
Weight 15lbs 2 oz.
Top Weight 3.10oz
Pin Placement 3.5-4

Ball is drilled similar to layout #1 in storm instructions for length and back-end on normal house conditions (layout for best performance on normal house conditions).  The ball has some leverage weight.  Finger holes are drilled slightly below and to the left of the pin to provide length.

First of all, I am a 190 average bowler with speed averaging 14mph-15mph with moderate revs.  I only bowl in league or open play on house conditions.  I have not used this ball on sport or PBA conditions and my review is based on a typical house pattern (38-41 feet with lighter oil on the outside boards).  I have bowled on both wood and synthetic lanes with similar results.  I have used Storm equipment for years and have used an Agent, Shift, Paradigm, Tripe X, X-factor, and even the Roto Grip Illusion.  For me the Gravity Shift is long and strong at the back-end, and does not have a problem with some carry-down.

I have been using this ball in both league and open play for just over 3 weeks now (I got it through my ball driller at a Storm/Roto-Grip seminar for the Gravity Shift, Rapid Fire, and the Cell).  Compared to other Storm equipment, the Gravity Shift is similar to the Paradigm and X-factor, but stronger hitting and more continuous on the back-end (unlike the original shift which at times seemed to hit weak at the back-end in carrydown or in response to a bad shot). I have no trouble getting the Gravity Shift through the heads into the mid-lane as the pearlized cover provides generous length into the mid-lane area.  The ball is smooth off of the break point and once it turns over it keeps on going even through the pin deck.  The ball is a bit long on fresh oil, but still finishes strong on the back-end. The ball does not seem to over-react if you get out into the dryer part of the lane, and will hold the pocket if you pull it and keep the speed up. Even when pulled into the oil, this ball still has great carry.  The ball hits the pins with explosive power, more so than any other Storm ball I have used. This ball does not quit once it turns over and heads towards the pins.  The strikes are impressive with this ball (plenty of trip 4's and trip 10's). I am definitely shooting at fewer ten pins since using the Gravity Shift.  It is the first ball out of my bag and the only one I need to use for league conditions. Even when the lanes start to dry-up or break down, all I need to do is chase the oil line inside and the ball will still strike. In my opinion, this is the best all around ball Storm has produced for the typical league bowler on house conditions.  The Gravity Shift is everything Storm says it is and more.  I have more than 20 games on this bad boy with no signs of cracking or wear.  The chocolate cherry scent is a bit strong, but tolerable. My experience with this ball so far is similar to the prior posts on this thread, as well as Norm Dukes comments in the preview video produced by Storm.

This ball is certain to be favorite of the Storm Nation and league bowlers everywhere when it is finally released to the public.  Nothing hits like a Storm!

See profile for stats.

Lay Out: 4.5" from PAP at 55* PAP angle and 65* VAL angle. The pin ended up slightly under my ring finger. I put a weight hole 1" down on my VAL after I threw it for a few games to increase the flare ever so slightly in the midlane and to prevent the small bowtie from finding the middle finger of my grip.

Surface: I had left it box which is 1500 reacta-shine.

Purpose: To give myself a ball for medium to longer distance (41-39 ft) and house conditions that are starting to open up to the right slightly.

Initial Observations: I threw it some on our leftover league shot which is on second shift on Brunswick Pro Anvilane. I also tried it on a US Open pattern on HPL's and had a tough time controlling the ball motion due to the flatness of the pattern. I have used it on fresh league patterns as well. Here is where it excelled as I could find the pocket almost at will even on tugs and misses to the right. It held and flipped on the tugs left into the soup, and hooked up and set on the misses wide into the friction. I got a good hitting motion especially on off hits and half pocket hits.

Final thoughts: With the pin being under, I get a controlled move off the friction when this ball turns up for home. I will probably drill a second one or plug and redrill this one to experiment with the pin higher and the PAP angle at 25*. This should give the ball a hard hook and set type of reaction which I am lacking in my tournament arsenal.

Additional Thoughts: The Gravity Shift looks like a ball that can be drilled to get some length/flip for when the fresher conditions have "settled" down and are starting to transition slightly. Strong players would probably appreciate the length and hit. This is a solid replacement for the Domination with an updated cover. From what I am seeing so far, this is definitely a go long and move strong type of ball motion so far from Storm. I may need to tone down the pin to pap distance so it doesn't flare so much since the ball has a strong motor in it. This should be a great upgrade for anyone looking to upgrade from a Paradigm or Domination.

I recently decided to pick up one of these nice pieces, and punched it out the  other day.  I must admit, I was a bit reluctant to do so after having an original shift, since I really did not care for that ball.  However, I am glad I opted to go with the Gravity.  The drilling is 5.5" x 3.5".  Pin wound up in the middle finger, and the mass bias in the strong position.  The new shape lock core causes this ball to rev up quite nicely, and as a result, the ball does not snap off of the friction, but displays a very strong arc.  I must say I am very impressed with how easily this ball clears the front part of the lane, and how it doesn't quit once it makes its move.  The back end on this ball is impressive to say the least.  I have a polished Black Widow Bite with a similar drill pattern and this ball is longer and stronger in the back end by several boards.  Hitting power is exceptional.  Flush hits send 10 in the pit and light pocket hits throw messengers a plenty.  This is definitely a ball that you can use to open up the lane.  I can easily play very deep in the soup and still have no problems getting this ball to kick in the back end.  A great new piece by Storm.  I will amend my review after a few more games on different patterns.  So far, this is an excellent piece.

Got a few games on this one now, and wanted to share what I've seen so far with the Gravity Shift.  Drilled it 75-3-25 by Mo's dual angle system, and this is a very similar drill to an 'NSane LevRG, and a Break Pearl I have, so I can compare them fairly well.  The Gravity is easily the strongest at the breakpoint of the 3 of them.  I can see this ball as being a bit condition specific, but when you have the right condition, look out.  Giving it room to the outside on an easy house shot, I couldn't throw it wide enough, it came back, and sometimes a little too aggressively everytime.  Whereas the Break Pearl and 'Nsane would be just a bit smoother at the break, the Gravity makes a hard left and doesn't think of quitting.  I'm looking forward to trying this in my PBA league with a bit more oil, and see if it works making that quick turn on the friction on the backend, and will probably add to this review then.

I have thrown this ball in 3-4 different Tournament houses so far and have been able to play numerous lines with excellent results.
The Gravity Shift also allowed me some error room to the right without the normal over reaction that a pearl ball gives me
The combination  of  The Shift and The Attitude Shift  and The Gravity Shift gives me a great 1-2-3 go to combination,
The Gravity weight block vs. core causes this ball to rev up quite nicely, and as a result, the ball does not snap off of the friction, but displays a very strong arc.
I must say I am very impressed with how easily this ball clears the front part of the lane,
Cover stock provides generous length into the mid-lane area.
The ball is smooth off the break point and once it turns over it keeps on hooking even through into the pin deck
No quit once it makes its move
The back end travel on this ball is impressive to say the least
I recommend this ball to anyone who likes to get  controllable reaction On  Medium to Heavier oil conditions.
My Drilling was an,
DUAL ANGLE LAYOUT
I drill My Ball 45 degree
Drilling angles of 30°, 50° and 70° provide drillings that roll up between the earliest rolling 10° drilling and the latest rolling 90° drilling.
PAP 5 inches  Across I/8 up,
Pin slightly above ring finger

Drill 4x4 an let me tell you this was a mistake because I will never be able to throw it on the THS because it is way to strong and continuos. Threw it all 3 games last night even though it was not the right ball, but we have the league won already so I thought I would stay with this ball. So three games and two 7/10 splits and five 8 pins later(lefty)I have decided the cell(1500 polished) will be the first ball out of the  bag and gravity for weaker backend and carry-down.

Just bought the SHIFT. Ball is awesome threw it on THS I could play anywhere from 17 to 10 at arrows. I have about 18mph ball speed. 350-400 revs. I drilled it pin over bridge and MB in strong position. This ball has great length and even better backend. I would reccomend this ball to anywhere. I was standing about 28 at the dots. My PAP is 5 over 1/4 up.  I usually track about 1" from thumb.

10 !!!!!!!!!!! all the way

Awesome hard hooking ball. Disliked the drillings in the booklet. I prefer length drillings for all my equipment. Went with my favorite, having the fingers drilled under the pin and the mass bias was kicked a couple inches to the right. Ball clears the front part of the lane easily and right off the bat I noticed how much room for error I had. Once it makes it's move it let's you know. Like a magnet pulling it towards the pocket. I can't wait to try this on some different shots and houses. With about a decade of bowling since I got my first Storm ball, the El Nino, this company is still making high quality balls. I'm thinking I should start buying more from them.

Ball Spec.  Ball Weight- 15lbs. 1oz. Top Weight- 2.36oz. Pin -2.5-3 OOB Finish My PAP-4 7/8 & 7/8 Up  Right Handed Bowler   Just picked up my Gravity Shift yesterday from my buddy at his pro shop. We went with layout 1# on the Storm Drill sheet that comes with the ball. We placed the pin above and to the right of my ring finger for some added length. I went directly to my local lanes to try it out. When I arrived there they had just finished oiling the lanes, they use the typical house shot, 38 to 41ft. After throwing three games with the ball, here are my first impressions. This ball is a winner and this ball is a monster! This ball out hooks everything else in my bag. The ball reads the lanes extremely well, it goes through the heads cleanly & excellent through the midlanes and does not over react on the dry boards. This ball has a very strong backend and when it makes the turn to the pocket it keeps hooking through the pin deck. The ball does not burn up or burn out. One thing I noticed is that I leave far fewer 10pins with this ball, only two 10pins in three games. I was playing between 3rd & 4th arrow sending the ball out to the 1st arrow and it came roaring back to the pocket every time. I even lost the ball once to the right and it went out to the second board and still came back for a mixer strike. I pulled one shot four boards inside my target and it held firm for a high flush strike. So the ball has some forgivness in it. I did not have to make any huge moves with this ball over 3 games, like I do with my other balls. I ended up shooting games of 245 & 238 & 278 for a 761 series. I predict the Gravity Shift will become the hot new ball for league bowlers across the country. Get to your pro shops ASAP and get this ball, you won't regret it. Check out Stormbowling.com and click on the video about the Gravity Shift by Norm Duke. It does everything he says and more. I will do future reviews when I get more games on the ball.

I drilled my gravity shift 45/ 4.5/ 35  using the morich dual angle chart.  I am left handed ball speed around 18 to 20 mph and rpms is around 475.  I have bowled with on many differant patterns.  You can play any where on the lane with this ball.  I drilled one for a right hander the same lay out I put on mine.  Easily this ball clears the front part of the lane.  You can play it straight or you can hook the whole lane with it.  I am very impressed with this ball.  If you have any questions about this ball please let me know.

rev rate: 400+ rpm
PAP: 4 7/8 over 7/16 up

I recently drilled 2 gravity shifts. First one was pin 4 1/2 from PAP at 50 deg, weight hole was through the cg 5 1/2 over. This layout read the midlane very well and had a strong but arching change of direction with continous motion through the pocket. The second was drilled using the rico layout. This ball read the lane sooner than the first gravity shift but was much more even and more predictable.

Both balls hit with tremendous force and neither were too jumpy off the dry. The new R2X coverstock allowed the ball to not read the heads and get into a strong midlane roll which gave me a very even read and a ball that wouldn't over react at the breakpoint. This cover also had no problem with carrydown still giving me a very strong backend motion on lanes that were already broken down by open bowlers.

This ball is definately a must if you are looking for a strong ball with great midlane read and smooth but aggressive change of direction.
