Title: Omega Crux
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on March 06, 2020, 09:03:20 AM
Storm has brought back the Catalyst Core in the Storm Omega Crux high performance bowling ball. This popular core has been known for its unmatched power, increased entry angle, as well as allowing more room for drilling error due to dynamic asymmetrical design and vertical cavity technology. The GI-20 Pearl coverstock used in this ball stands for Game Improvement 2020. This special coverstock was specifically designed to improve performance in the modern difficult bowling environment. The GI-20 Pearl Reactive coverstock used on the Omega Crux is best used on heavier oil conditions and has a really good skid, hook and then roll reaction. This ball can recover for almost anyplace on the lane.

The newest Crux is back with the same Catalyst Core with the GI-20 Pearl Cover.  My only complaint with this ball is that the surface is a little too strong right out of the box.  I actually smoothed mine down to a 3000 grit surface and promptly had the front 11, my first game in league.  A filthy 8 pin denied me...  If I were to be honest, I haven't liked the Crux series, I was very skeptical when this one came out but curiosity got the best of me.  This ball is clean while still being heavy rolling.  It makes a great motion off the dry and my goodness does it go through the pins!

I have been tweaking some things in my game and my PAP has changed considerably.
I am now at 4-1/2" over by 1/2" up.
I went with 50x5x35.

I drilled my Omega Crux 5 x 3 x 4 and left it at its box surface, this ball comes with the same Catalyst Core as the other Crux lined balls but wrapped with the brand new GI-20 Pearl cover. First impressions about throwing this ball was wow, for being a pearl this ball didn’t really jerk off the end of the pattern or when I missed into the friction. The Omega Crux glided through the front part of the lane.  Multiple style of bowlers will enjoy the versatility of this ball and will shoot big numbers with it. I already have shot 839 with it just after a few times of using it.

Introducing the Omega Crux, the newest release in the Primer line. The Omega Crux uses the new GI-20 Pearl Cover wrapped around the Catalyst Core. The layout I used was 5 x 5 x 2 which put the pin right above both fingers and put the mass just to the right of my thumb. The Omega Crux is a great compliment to the Crux Prime. The new GI-20 Pearl cover helps get the Omega Crux to clear the fronts well but it still has that strong and continuous arc that is known from the Catalyst Core.
I'm gonna be using this piece a lot on medium-heavy conditions when I'm looking for that push through the fronts but still picks up strong in the mids.

Couldn’t wait for this one to come out!  A sanded pearl! $$$ The Omega Crux, the newest release in the Primier line. The Omega Crux uses the new GI-20 Pearl Cover wrapped around the Catalyst Core. The new GI-20 Pearl cover helps get the Omega Crux to clear the fronts well but it still has that strong and continuous arc that is known from the Catalyst Core. The layout I used in mine was 45 x 4.25 x 40.  This gives the ball a chance to read the mids well and still has great backend motion.  Excellent compliment to the Crux balls.  I wasn’t a huge fan of the Crux Prime for myself as it was very jumpy off the spot, but the Omega is not.  Strong motion but controllable.  The Crux definitely wants oil on the lane to perform at its best but a must have in the bag as it blends out patterns as well. You will not be disappointed with this ball.

Storm Omega Crux

The Omega Crux is the newest ball in the premier line. This is A stronger ball that out of the box comes with a 3000 grit finish. I found that grit to be a little strong out of the box for a THS. Very Strong in the mids and wants to stand up fast. As the carry down becomes apparent you can move left and still keep this ball in play. This will be for me more of a tournament ball where the pattern is longer or higher volume. For the average league bowler, this ball will be better with either some lane shine and/or polish. For the tournament player, this ball will be a must. Looking for a strong ball for the fresh, give the Omega Crux a shot.

Storm's new powerhouse is a sanded pearl with a core that has been a proven performer. The Omega Crux wraps the Catalyst core that has powered one of the most successful lines of bowling balls in the GI-20 Pearl Reactive coverstock. Don't expect pearl reaction with this ball however, the sanded finish makes this ball early and STRONG in the front of the lane.

I began hearing comparisons to the Alpha Crux almost immediately after staffers starting getting their hands on the Omega. Intrigued I decided to layout my Omega exactly as my Alpha had been. I was surprised to find that for me, the motion and strength was exactly what I had remembered my alpha being. The greatest complement that I can give to an early-rolling ball is that is still continuous like the Alpha was.

I tested the Omega Crux, somewhat fortunately, on a house pattern which had recently been changed to add a bit of length and some substantial volume to the front of the pattern. It was beyond enjoyable to watch 90% of the league watch their balls squirt throught the front and have no change to recover down-lane, while my omega would see the mid-lane with unreal consistency. Taking a quick look at the league sheet next week I saw the vast majority of the league bowl below average while I had my best set of the year.

I've since had the opportunity to throw it with less volume on the lane and even on a broken down house-shot. The sessions on the worn pattern in particular were surprising as I kept waiting to see the ball shut down in the back after forcing it through the early friction but it just kept coming. This has quickly become my go to ball on the fresh and I see alot of bowlers choosing the omega crux to tackle volume.

The Omega Crux.

WEIGHT BLOCK: Catalyst Core
WEIGHT: 15lbs
RG: 2.50
DIFF: 0.052
PSA: 0.017
COVER: GI-20 Pearl overstock
OUT OF BOX: 3000 Grit

Patterns used for review are HP modified.
Pattern A: 40Ft, 24 Mls
Pattern B: 43Ft, 29 Mls

PLAY
The Omega Crux was able to play both patterns from the inside and out with these differences. Pattern A allows for more movement inside and earlier. Pattern B allowed the Omega Crux to move outside.

The 3000 Grit really compliments the strong pearl cover.  For such a strong ball it scoots down the lane pretty well. If it seems any friction it just says adios. This does fairly well on Pattern B but could benefit from a slightly heavier volume.

Pattern A:
On this pattern there was no room for error.  I definitely had to keep the ball rolling end over end. Any slight reduction in speed and increase in axis of rotation and the ball would be through the nose. As oil pushed down it helped a bit but it would be best to change to a different ball.

Pattern B:
The three feet of extra length and slightly heavier volume suited this ball much better. I was able to get decent length and this ball shaped up really well. As I migrated left the ball started to react much better.

LOW DOWN: The Omega Crux with combination of the proven catalyst core and GI-20 pearl cover provide an extremely stable and readable ball reaction that doesn’t sacrifice any continuation. #StormNation

It’s rare that I can love a ball this much after only a few games out of the box. I put a 5x4.5x4 (pin under) layout on the Omega Crux hoping to create a rounder, more controlled shape. The Catalyst core tends to produce a stronger and rounder shape. Wrapped with the new GI-20 cover, you get a strong asymmetrical pearl that digs in just a little sooner to create that strong arcing backend that hits like it was shot out of a cannon.

In my 2nd game out of the box I shot 300 in a tournament on a 5:1, 41’ challenge pattern. My strong solid pieces just couldn’t hold energy through the pattern and my strongest pearl pieces were leaving me pinched and blowing through the break. Started a new shift on fresh oil and decided to put the Omega Crux to work. After striking 20 out of 24 frames, it started getting some attention.

This ball is for real. Very versatile. A day after throwing on that challenge pattern, I threw a practice session on my wood lanes and house pattern. I had no problems lining up and seeing that same smooth, strong and dependable motion.

The Catalyst core has been around for quite some time as it was in the original Crux in 2014. This core has a RG of 2.50, Diff of .052 and an Intermediate Diff of .017. The catalyst core is wrapped around the new Game Improvement-20 or GI-20 which comes sanded at 3000. The layout I chose for this ball was a variant of the one I used on the Gravity Evolve, for this ball I chose 5x4x2.
I have had a lot of great sets and games with the Alpha Crux, Crux Pearl, and the Crux Prime. I have also had a lot of success with the Game Improvement cover stocks on the lock and sure lock. So, to say I was giddy about this ball would be an understatement. I wanted this ball to be number two out of the bag behind the Gravity evolve which had a layout of 5x4x3. From time to time I do meet up with a lefty on league night and might have to ball down to maintain the line I want to play. The Omega fits into this role perfectly as the Catalyst core is very stable and smooth, so it blends the over/under with ease.
For me this ball works best on heavier volumes of oil of some house shots, but it especially handles heavier volumes of sports shots as well. It is strong enough to have a longer pin to pap layout for myself as I do not have a ton of revs. The smooth nature of the cover and core combination will be very useful to me on heavier sport conditions where I may struggle to get the ball into a roll soon enough.

If you’re excited for the new Storm Omega Crux you should be. When this first got released I had a few things in my head what it might be like, one was some similarities to my original Storm Lock. Soon as I threw it I loved the shape that it made and did bring back memories of my old Lock that I loved!! The more I throw this the more I get comfortable trusting my shots and seeing the great shape it creates. The Omega Crux creates a sharp entry angle and more hook down lane as the Crux Prime gets into an earlier roll. For the lower rev rate and speed players the Omega will get down the lane a little longer then the Prime but still have plenty of pop down lane. This ball is a little to much for my house shot but I can see this being the first ball out of my bag on longer/higher volume patterns. This ball definitely allows you to chase the shot left without the ball giving up on the backend. Overall this release is an A+++

The Omega Crux is Storms newest asymmetrical ball using the Catalyst weight block. I was really looking forward to seeing how the new GI-20 Pearl cover would perform on the lanes. WOW!! The additional length down lane and flare I get on this ball is spectacular. Pearl balls usually are fast responding through the front part of the lanes however with this ball being sanded, I've been able to play much further left to start and really open up my launch angles. This is a heavy rolling ball that reads the mid-lane aggressively thus giving it the strong continuous response off friction I'm looking for.

I find this ball to be earlier and more aggressive than my gravity evolve. I decided to hit the Omega with 4000 to speed it up through the front part of the lane and give it more back end motion based on storing energy a bit longer.

I highly recommend this shape in your bag!!

I drilled up my OMEGA CRUX at 55* x 4" x 35*. I have been throwing this one at 3000 tru-cut.

The OMEGA CRUX is a duller pearl out of the box. It works in well for me when it is time to get out of my stronger asym balls but shiny pearls are too over/under yet. I have thrown this with my PHAZE III and the OMEGA CRUX is slightly stronger and earlier.

Drill this one when you want a dull pearl option in your bag to compliment your big core balls. It also is a good step down from the CRUX PRIME.

When I saw the Omega Crux was coming out, I could not wait to get this ball. I have quite a bit of tournaments coming up at the end of April through the middle if May and I am trying to get my arsenal set up as they will all not be on a house shot. But since I haven’t used this on a non-house shot yet, my thoughts on the house shot where I bowl is I really like the look it gives me to start the night and even end the night. The first night of using this ball I used it for the first two games and started further left than usual. It was nice to be able to start further left than what I am use to on our house shot cause it means I can ball down if need to and move right. I was having issues with carry so I decided to ball down to my Phaze III for game 3 and move right. I started having issues with carry again so I decided to ball back up to the Omega Crux and had the front 8 my last game. I am speed dominant instead of rev dominant so I have a hard time kicking out the 10 sometimes. Swapping to this the last game really helped with kicking out that 10 and also with my carry. This ball pops on the back end and does not over-hook on me which is what I like seeing. Even though I wasn’t have issues carrying with the ball we decided to take it to 2000 finish. I will have to say it did look really good the few shots I threw and it snapped even more on the back end. I think we will leave it at 2000 for the time being and see what happens. Lately this has been my go to ball for league as I am able to keep moving my feet left as the night goes on.

I am really looking forward to seeing what this ball is like for me at other centers in our area and also not on the house shot where I bowl league. I cannot wait to get out there in tournaments to see what it looks like and what it gives me. I really like that I am able to start with this ball, move my feet left, and continuing to use the ball instead of balling down.

The Omega Crux uses the new GI-20 Pearl Cover wrapped around the Catalyst Core.  I'll be honest I was a little skeptical drilling the Omega because outside the Alpha the Crux series hasn't rolled good for my roll.  I took the recommendation from my Storm DSM and drilled it 5 x 5 x 2 which put the pin right above both fingers and put the mass just to the right of my thumb. I added a little Step 2 compound so I could use it for league.  I was pleasantly surprised!  Very strong asymmetrical pearl.  Hard to describe the roll of the Omega, very even to me not too early and not flippy at all.  Very hard arching motion, but the carry is unbelievable.  The Omega just goes through the pins the right way. When you get lined up you can strike for days.  Definitely above a Astro Physixs and below the Crux Prime.  The PBA guys absolutely love this ball!

Because of the strong Core in the Crux (Catalyst core) and the aggressive cover (GI-20) i wanted to make sure i picked a layout that ensured plenty of continuation downlane. I have 17mph ball speed at the camera, 425-450 rev rate, average axis tilt, but minimal axis rotation. This means i come up the back of the ball which causes the ball to want to read the lanes a little early. I chose a pin down 55 x 4.5 x 70 (roughly 4.5 x 5 x 4.5 in the Vector layout system) layout. Even though this is a pearl ball, it doesn’t act like a pearl. It reads the middle part of the lane nicely and produces a strong smooth arc on the backend. It is very predictable, controllable, and won’t exaggerate your mistakes. Misses inside hold but still finish on the backend because the ball picks up a heavy roll. Misses outside recover really well and don’t ricochet off the dry. The pearl cover with the 3000 grit finish has enough traction in the middle and enough skid in the heads to conserve tons of energy and split the 8-9 correctly. It doesn’t create weird angles that leave you weird splits. Shots that you don’t think will carry surprise you and strike. Aside from the slickest or driest conditions, this ball will work for mostly everyone. My Pro Motion is always the first ball out of my bag. The Omega Crux is stronger than the Pro Motion. It is a little cleaner through the heads but more continuous on the back than my Phaze II. #Stormnation

Storm Omega Crux

55 x 4.75 x 20

I was very excited when I saw a new Crux ball was being released!  I was a big Alpha Crux fan so my expectation was this ball would be a good one!  Whenever that white pigment is used in the cover the balls tend to torque a little harder a little sooner on the Lane which is exactly what I experienced with mine.  I chose a stronger layout to compliment what the ball naturally wants to do.  It does get through the first 15-20 feet very well, stands up in the mid-lane and is very smooth an controllable down lane.  This is a ball I will use on fresh quite often and is definitely intended for heavy and medium volume patterns.  Speed dominant players should like this one!

Storm Omega Crux

Cover: Gi-20 Pearl Reactive

Core: Catalyst Core

I was pretty excited about the Omega Crux. I didn't get the best look with the Crux Prime, mainly because I never see enough oil to let the ball do what it was intended to do. The Omega is much more playable for me. While it is still strong, it gets downlane enough to be able to use on a heavier house shot. Not a ball that I will be able to use all night during a 3 game-5 person league, but something I can start with when I need a little more to fight through the heavier oil (the 2 houses I bowl league in have had pretty heavy shots this season).

I tend to score better with pearls than solids (mostly mental) so having a big sanded pearl to add to the arsenal has been great.

This one will be the strongest ball I will have in my league arsenal and will be a ball down from my UFO in my tournament bag.

The Omega Crux is a beast in the back part of the lane! I did not expect the huge amount of midlane and back end traction that this ball possesses. Even though it is a pearl coverstock, do not let that scare you – this ball handles oil with ease. In fact, it was just as strong as the UFO for me. The pearl coverstock does lend itself to have more angularity than your normal heavy oil ball, however. As long as you have some oil in the fronts and midlane, this ball will perform.

Storm Omega Crux Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

The newest addition to the Premier line at Storm is the Omega Crux.  The Omega Crux continues to use the Catalyst core which has been extremely successful in the Crux line, but the cover offers the GI-20 version which provides a pearl coverstock to create length and a sharper response time down lane.  I’m seeing a ton of Omega’s go down the lane in league and tournaments.  It’s been impressive to watch so far.

I’ve drilled one Omega and love it.  I drilled it with the pin above my middle finger and the mass bias approximately three inches to the right of my thumb.  The numbers come out to: 5.5 x 4 x 45.  This Omega is a ball I can use on heavier volume conditions and on the ‘fresh’ of many patterns.  I call the Omega my “big ball” in my bag because it rolls heavy but is still clean and provides a slow-to-medium response time.

If you’re looking for a “big ball” replacement and need something for fresh patterns that has the newest technology from our experts in Utah, go drill an Omega Crux.

Review:
The new Omega Crux is very different than the Crux Prime. The Prime rolls super early and has a hook set type motion. This new Omega Crux goes a bit further but still grabs in oil due to the 3000 sanded strong cover. The Omega revs up and finishes strong on the back end. The Omega Crux has a lot of hook potential but shapes more like a shined ball. It seems to me there are distinct differences in the Crux family of balls. The ball finish looks rougher than the 3000 stated to me and does not lane shine easily. My Omega is low maintenance, I just use a good Storm ball cleaner or wipe and I’m good to go. I am very happy with the hit and motion of this ball. The Omega will not quit on the back. I have been getting away with good carry on some not so great shots. This ball works well on house shots as well as flatter patterns. The Omega is very versatile. This ball fits nicely between my UFO and All Road in total hook. The Omega has a bit more skid and flip than my UFO.
This ball is a bit of a sleeper in my shop but the ones we have drilled have had rave reviews by our bowlers. We had a Matchmaker planned but had to postpone due to the Virus but I know we will be selling a lot of these when we get back on the lanes.
Stay Safe!

Summary:
The Omega is nothing like the Prime in ball motion.
The Ball has a very strong back end move and hit.
The Omega works well on a wide range of conditions.
This is another fun ball to roll!

Omega Crux

RG / Diff: 2.54 / .050

Ball Specs: 3000 grit - GI-20 Pearl Reactive / Catalyst Core

Layout: 65 x 3 1/2 x 50

Results: This was much stronger then what my prior Cruxes. I actually moved right to about 30 and look at the bottom of the 4 pin to make the ball stay in the pocket. The ball works well on a THS with SPL roll a little early on HPL and less blended THS. Apollo Strong!!! I used this ball more of the 40ft Kegel flex pattern and found the ball roll better inside of the track area and where the oil was heavier and longer. This ball will suit those players that bowl on the harder lane surfaces like SPL, Pro-lane and Anvilane on the longer house patterns and needs a set up from the IQ Tour or Phaze II.

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 30 x 5 x 45

Finish: Wet 4000 grit

Surprise surprise surprise!!  Lots of surprises came when I threw this newest addition to the Storm arsenal  As I am more rev dominant, I tend to drill most of my assymetrics with a longer pin layout. For this one, I went with a 30 x 5 x 45 which put the pin above my middle finger and PSA kicked pretty far right.  What I was looking for was a clean reaction that would turn up a bit sooner. 1st surprise, this ball HOOKS!!  Whoa!  After throwing a game on it, I decided to hit it with 4000 wet surface and that did the trick! Where this ball will excel for me is when there is a decent amount of oil in the mids where I can still open up the lane a bit.  The pearl maintains the ball’s energy and this thing hits hard, seems like heavier rolling piece.  I did try adding polish and didn’t like the reaction I was seeing so took it back to the 4000 wet and really like this motion!  I was able to move in pretty deep and open up the lane so long as I kept my hand on the side of the ball, really going to enjoy this one!

If you’re in need of a bigger piece that can open up the lane without losing its energy early since it is a pearl, then give this one a shot and start bowling up a Storm!

I loved the almost every ball in the Crux family, so I drilled the Omega Crux the first chance I got. I put a stronger layout (50x4.25x30) on my Omega because I wanted to accentuate what the ball was designed to do. Even with the stronger layout and duller box finish it skids easily through the front part of the lane. Even though it is clean in the front, the Omega doesn’t have a ton of backend shape. It is more of a controllable mid-lane shape. I see the Omega Crux being great on fresh on medium patterns. I can see why guys on tour have fallen in love with this ball.

Storm's new Omega Crux subverts a couple of norms in the bowling ball market - it's a pearl cover, but still provides a lot of traction in oil AND it comes sanded from the factory at 500/3000 Abralon. It looks weird on a spec sheet, but take this ball to the lanes and it doesn't disappoint! It's got a new cover formula (GI-20 Pearl) paired with the asymmetric Catalyst core from the rest of the Crux series. Storm has billed this cover formula as their strongest ever, and even in pearl form this ball can hang with stuff like my PhysiX in terms of created friction on the lane.

So, what does this sanded pearl asymmetric package give you? Possibly the most throwable big asym to ever come out of Brigham City. It definitely feels controlled and rolly downlane (like the Alpha Crux), but also brings some of the energy retention and downlane responsiveness of the PhysiX to the equation. How it manages this is beyond me, but even just in the few weeks since I've drilled it the Omega has given me a great ball reaction when other bowlers around me are struggling to put up a double on multiple occasions. Make no mistake - this ball will eat through some oil. Give it that oil though... and it'll find a home VERY quickly at the top of your bag!

The Omega Crux is the 5th in the Crux line, all featuring the Catalyst core, but is the first to feature the GI-20 pearl cover, which comes factory sanded at 3000 grit.  The Omega feels like a throwback to the original Crux, and the reaction is what made the original so popular.  There’s traction, but not too much, a strong move down lane, but not too strong, and a very good control to power balance.  This means the Omega was built for versatility, both on the lanes, and in the hands of several different styles of bowlers.  There’s enough backend punch and hook to help higher speed or lower rev bowlers create an effective shape, but it’s not too strong or angular for slower speed or heavier hands.  It feels like a smoother and more controllable PhysiX, it has a strong and continuous motion, but it’s not quite as aggressive or “angry” as the PhysiX.  The Omega will do well both on house shots and on sport patterns for a wide variety of bowlers.

Review:
We are loving this addition to the Crux line. Usually sanded pearls don’t hold well for either of us on a typical house shot but this new addition is very surprising. Compared to the Alpha Crux this ball goes a little longer (as you would expect from a pearl cover) with a slightly sharper entry angle into pocket. It is important to note that the entry angle differs from your typical pearl in that it is not too “hockey stick” like in shape. We feel this is a perfect mix for people who like pearl and hybrid covers and need something to fit that gap. We hosted a matchmaker a few weeks ago and people were loving the shape down lane. It is a unique shape out of box and one ball in particular that stands out as a monster pearl. This is one pearl that you will not be afraid to use if there is some oil out there.

Wood Lanes
House Shot

The Omega Crux is the perfect compliment to the Crux Prime! These 2 balls together create a fabulous 1-2 punch for any bowler. With the Omega having the GI-20 Pearl Reactive Coverstock paired with the Catalyst Core you get a similar motion down lane with the Omega on transition as you do with the Crux Prime on fresh! The Omega Crux is an Asymmetrical must have in everyones arsenal!

The newest "Crux" line of bowling balls, with the famous Catalyst core, will result in success everytime.

This ball is not going to disappoint either. The new Omega Crux has a 3000-Grit finish with a pearl coverstock. I decided to drill this ball pin below the bridge, which is 2.5 pin-pap. This ball reads the midlane great. It's not to early, and it's not to clean either. I view this ball as a great step down to the Gravity Evolve, and a step above the Phase II. This ball will be used on multiple different shots, and lane conditions.

The Omega Crux should be a must have in your bag!

Orientation:  Right Handed
Rev Rate:  400 RPM
Speed:  16-17 MPH
PAP:  4 ½ over and ½ up

Location:  Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO
Pattern:  High Volume THS
VLS Layout:  5 x 4 x 4 5/8

I loved my Crux Prime, but it was a little too strong at times.  The Omega Crux solves that problem.  It’s still strong but it’s clean enough as a pearl that I wouldn’t call it Crux Prime slow.  I can use the Omega Crux on the fresh and the best part is it just keeps hooking.  I drilled the OC with a little bit longer pin to pap distance and that helped push it down the lane just enough.  The Omega is a great update to the Crux series!

The Omega Crux is a factory sanded pearl ball with a cover called GI-20 in the premier line of Storm bowling balls. The Omega comes from the factory at a 3000 grit abralon finish, and has a color combination of white, copper, and graphite. The numbers in 15 lb weighted balls are 2.50 Rg, 0.052 diff, with an intermediate diff of 0.017. The Catalyst core is the same core used in all the previous Crux balls.

I drilled the Omega Curx with a layout of 5 x 3.5 x 2.5. This layout creates a lot of motion in the late mid-lane, toward the end of the oil pattern. I went with this layout to use this ball to open up softer backends, and lanes that aren’t really crisp at the breakpoint. Comparing the Omega Crux with my 4 x 4 x 2.5 Crux Prime, the Omega is a lot more defined through the back part of the lane. The Prime is good when the backends are fresh, and the Omega is great to go to when the backends tighten up. The Omega starts up a few feet later than the Prime. Both of these layouts seem to work a little better when there is some built in area in the pattern. So far, the Omega has been really good on 41-43 foot patterns, with a nice crown shape built in. The GI-20 cover on the Omega  seems to hold the surface fairly well.

I like the Omega Crux. I can see this ball as being user friendly for most any bowler, provided they use the right layout and the ball on the right pattern. Rev dominant bowlers will get use from this ball on heavier volumes of oil and won’t need super strong layouts to get motion. Matched rev rate to ball speed players will be able to use this ball on the widest range of patterns, just drill to flare accordingly. Speed dominant players will want to use stronger layouts, and should see a ball that still has some change of direction for them. Thank you for reading my review of the Omega Crux. Now go bowl up a Storm!!

Storm Omega Crux
Cover: GI-20 Pearl
Core: Catalyst
Layout: 65 x 4.25 x 30

The Omega Crux is out of box at 3000, which is interesting due to the pearl cover. I have liked all of the Crux series of balls back to the original other than the Alpha (yeah, I know) so I was obviously pretty excited about another Crux. For me, I don’t really see much in common to my Crux Prime likely because of the SPEC cover on the Prime. I see this as a more controllable, sport pattern friendly version of the Physix. There is a ton of hook here, but for me it has more of an arching motion. With a surface of 3000 or less (I have tried down the 1000), it reads the lane pretty early and just chugs its way to the pocket and hits. It’s pretty easy to see why this is a favorite on the PBA tour.

LANE CONDITION
Length: 40
Volume: Medium
Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS
The Omega Crux is the newest ball in the famous Crux line. It contains the Catalyst Core, which is in every other Crux ball, but is wrapped with the GI-20 coverstock (Game Improvement 2020). When I first threw this ball with the out of box finish, it was very similar to my Alpha Crux. It picked up in the mid lane very well, but then kept hooking down lane too. I wanted to put some polish on this ball to separate the two a bit, and it did just that. Once I polished the Omega Crux, it pushed down the lane a few feet more, then never stopped hooking until it fell off the back of the pin deck. This is a ball that I would pull out right after my solid assymetrics, such as the Crux Prime or Physix.
