This ball is the MotherLoad. I have never threw a ball like this that started motoring early
with this much backend reaction. It has to be the new coverstock. I don't have alot of hand and
it doesn't matter with the PARADIGM. I hit half pocket in league last night most of the time and
got the ten out every shot. Three other bowlers in my league drilled one as well and they all love
this ball.

I didn't even drill this ball that strong. Pin above the fingers...MB kicked right of the thumb.

This ball comes 1500 grit. I have never witnessed a ball this shiny that digs into the oil the way the PARADIGM does. The continuation through the pins is great. THANK YOU STORM!

Had this ball drilled up by Mike Miller(PBA)at "10 Pins and More" in Rio Rancho, NM. Ball started out weighing 15lbs 1 oz with 2.48 oz top weight before drilling and a 3.5" pin. Laid ball out with pin just above and right of the ring fingert(Right-Hander), RAD+ swung out 1/2" right of thumb, x-weight hole, polished up to 1500.
Threw ball on my typical house shot 38' buffed to 45' Synthetic up and around the 10 board(see profile for style), there is OB outside the 5 board. My benchmark ball is a XXX-Factor drilled pin above fingers and RAD swung out 1/2" right of thumb with comparable top weight as the Paradigm and I can tell you that on this shot the Paradigm easily outhooked/cover more overall boards by a minimum of 7 boards to start and tamed down to about 5 boards difference after 6 games of practice and 3 games of league(League set: 230, 267, 258 = 755 Series). The ball is very aggressive throughout the entire lane. No matter how hard I tried, it was very difficult to get this ball to blow by the 1-3 pocket. If the ball got out too far it would come flying back, but if I pulled it the thing was way too aggressive and would cross over.

Another Excellent Ball From STORM!

Got the ball punched today and threw it tonight.  House shot with a little more oil than usual house.  Shot was a little drier from 5 out.

Layout:
Pin over fingers (middle) cg kicked right slightly.  MB directly under thumb.  Pin is out roughly 2-3 inches.

I throw 19+ mph (usually higher) with 450+RPM, lower track.

This ball flies.  Absolutely awesome.  Have a Fired UP drilled same way, but with cg in middle and it outhooks and outflips the Fired by a lot.  Ball covers up bad releases with stunning results.  Get the ball out it still comes back.  My team asked what I did with their regular bowler.  Once they dry out a little the ball leaves 10's from entry angle.
Ball clears heads awesomely.  No effort at all to get the ball down the lane.  Did not burn up one bit for me.

It is like (quoting someone else here) someone kicked the ball at the 50 foot spot.  It flips that hard.  And carries like crazy until you play extremely deep. (30-5)

Highly recommend this ball.

Joe

P.S.  I do have 2 Total Shock & Awes, and an EPX and this ball makes them look like my Target Zone.

This ball is the best ball on the market.  I thought that the ball would not pick up in oil, but I was wrong.  A shined up 1500 grit ball that picks up in oil that's great.  My drilling pin right of the ring finger 1 1/2 out.  Drilled leveraged.  I have a ball speed around 18-19 mph with a lot of revs. I could play deep inside or right up the boards with this ball.  The backend on this ball is outstanding.  The hitting power is like a recking ball knocking down buildings.  The new EOX cover is great.  If you miss a little right dont worry it's coming back.  This is the best ball on the market as of now.  So watch out absolute inferno storm has taking over once again.

I must admit that when I got my staff ball about a month ago I was a little skeptical. I thought, how much different can this really be then a Triple X-Factor and the rest of the Xfactor line. I must say that I am truly surprised. This to date is the best asymmetrical ball I have used.

Ball specs: Pin out 3 1/2, top 2.68. CG is 1/2 left of the pin to Rad marking

Layout: Pin 4 1/4 from PAP, Rad 5 1/8 from PAP, Pin 3 inches above grip midline, NO Xtra hole

My PAP is: 4 3/4 over

I have tried this on a variety of conditions including our long and heavy house pattern (41 ft, with about 80-100 units in the middle), to another house pattern (37 ft, medium volume of oil), to sport patterns (37 ft and 39 ft with medium to heavy volumes of oil). On our long and heavy house pattern I had to play 10 and right (no ball is really any good inside of ten). The ball gave me the front end roll of the Triple X-factor but the strong breakpoint of the original X-factor. The Paradigm nearly seemed like a hybrid of the two in ball motion. On the shorter more normal house patterns that most centers run and the sport patterns, I was able to move left and wheel it around the front of the lane and get great recovery. Each time I use this ball I am more and more amazed at its great recovery. In comparing to one of my favorite balls (Fired Up) how get more recovery from the mid lane with the Paradigm. So for me when my Fire Diablo is to early or stands up to soon and my Fired Up is just a touch to long and late the Paradigm is the answer.

I would recommend this ball for all bowlers. Guys that get in and boom it will love the Paradigm for its unbelievable recovery and straight players will love it because it will give them a sharper, stronger breakpoint then the ever popular Triple X factor.

Pick one up today. Even though it is a few bucks more then the X-Factor line, you will not be disappointed. Each time I use mine I love it even more.

I talked to a rep from Bob's Business and he says the Paradigm has
the strongest move to the pocket of anything on the market. The cover
is very tweakable. I can't wait to see it in Pete or Robert's hand on the show!

I drilled a Paradigm. Used in house known for tight lanes, Brunswick Pro Anvillane, lots of carrydown by game 3 (5 Man league). Sad to report a disappointment w Paradigm. Ball does NOT flip as hard as advertised. The ball "wheels" due to the weight block, but would not face the pocket enough to carry 10's and 7's. Tried multiple angles, speeds and releases. Ball was factory finish (too shiny perhaps) drilled 4½ x 4, pin high. I do like the ball but not the 50% carry percentage I had over 2 nights of bowling. I will drill a Trifecta with a similar layout for this house. That should give me the extra read that I need but as I said, the ball was similar to any other pearlized reactive resin, the only difference was the ball motion which was very impressive; sadly did not equate to strikes. I'd say this ball is good for a medium shot, and needs some dry boards to generate the desired crisp reaction.

I just got the Storm Paradigm today and had a chance to use it on the two leagues I bowl with. This is just a short review since I rarely had time to get used to the ball and used my X-factor deuce most of the time instead.

I used it on my second shift lanes and it was very consistent and had a very strong yet smooth arc to the pocket. After the first game of the second shift, it was pretty much time to put the ball away because it was starting to burn up. For me, it has possibly the most perfect arc to the pocket I have seen. This ball is sort of like the Original X-factor on steroids, which is a good thing because the Original X-factor is discontinued.

I will post more about this ball as I practice and use it more. From the few times I threw it, I've liked what I saw.

I just got the Paradigm. Drilled 5x3 3inch pin buffer. X-hole though the grip center though cg to the VAL or PAL. specs on the ball 4.5 pin with 3.5 top weight.

We bowl on old wood lanes long oil heavy blended pattern. The ball was everthing said to be. Clean though the heads and very strong midlane and strong backend reaction. This ball is a must for Med to heavy oil.

Got my Paradigm from Buddies Thursday afternoon and had it punched up by Friday. Here are the specs:

15lbs, 2 oz.
3-4" pin, 2.65 oz. top
Drilled Pin right of ring, cg under ring, RAD just right of thumb hole

Left in box finish.

Tested the ball on the following patterns:
PBA  Regional/Senior Tour pattern No. 3
http://www.pba.com/resources/oilpatterns/laneconditions.asp?ID=19
THS--second shift mixed league

For me, the true strength of this ball comes in its versatility. If you are able to change your hand positions and releases, this ball will be whatever you want it to be on medium conditions. I've been able to stand left and swing the lane from inside at 5th arrow or pipe it hard and straight up second. In either case, the ball delivers good push through the heads, a slight check in the midlane and a powerful arc on the backend. As is the case with every ball made these days, the hit was outstanding.

This is not a magic ball, it doesn't give you 50 boards of extra room or guarantee that you're never going to leave corner pins. So if you're one of those people who is going to ask "why should I pay $165 plus shipping when I can get a Rampage for $90," don't bother buying this one. However, if you're bowler that is looking for a very smooth, predictable and versatile pearl resin bowling ball, this will be a very nice choice. I see equally strong scoring potential for strokers and crankers alike. If used properly, this ball will be whatever you want it to be. As a nice bonus, it looks and smells nice, too. Aromatherapy: concentration my arse. The ball smells like Fruit Loops!

This ball ROCKS!!  I have the pin above my ring finger with a 10:30 drilling.  The ball has a similar motion to an Xfactor but stronger.  This ball absolutely slices through the pins.  It won't make a bad shot look good but it definitely rewards a well rolled shot.  I can play this ball on any part of the lane, the ball just wont quit!  I bowl on a fairly flat oil pattern and this ball matches up well.  Throw a good shot and it's a strike.  Throw a bad shot and get what you deserve.  This is all I can ask of a ball.

Thank you STORM!!

First three series with the Paradigm 685, 704, 702.  High game was 279, split in the first frame and then struck out.

Got a second one of these, and laid it out very strong this time with the 4x4 A (1½ buffer). Ball is sick. There is a tremendous change of direction with this layout, and a beautiful ball motion. Extremely clean in the front of the lane, really revs up nicely and makes a left turn downlane. Ball hits the pins so solidly, with a loud sound. When the lanes carrydown, it was not necessary to put the ball away. All it took was a nice move left, with softer speed and the ball reacted beautifully. It's really hard to leave a pin if you execute properly.

Drilled one up for my brother. He has no hand and loves to just throw the ball down the lane. Punched it up with the pin about 2" away from PAP and mass bias just on the positive side near the thumb. This is the first ball that he has ever had that allows him to play inside while kicking out the corners on a walled up house shot. The ball seems to allow him to miss right a little bit and still hold line. Awesome ball for anyone looking for a little more kick for playing those inside angles.

Simply Amazing...Had this drilled to a 4x4 as instructed by Storms diagrams...I am a lefty that has a high rev rate and throws the ball about 17mph...The conditions were initially heavy oil and this ball just ate the lane up....When it turned the corner it turned hard and hit the pocket with explosive force....But be careful cuz I dried up the lane and the ball hooks a lot...Ive gotten some Jersey strikes when I threw the ball over board 35 and deep so it hooks a lot

I just wanted to post another review cuz the last one I did was when the ball had less than 10 games on it and now I can fully put my opinion up.....THIS BALL IS A MONSTER....Im a lefty and usually stand at 10 and throw it over 33, which gets the ball deep down the lane and it snaps very hard and just barrels thru the rack...The break point is very smooth and you can see when the ball stops skidding and hooks into the pocket..Since the RAD+ weight block is about 2 inches left of my thumb the 3 lbs. of weight is traveling right to the pocket and the ball picks up speed when it flips for some amazingly loud shots with a lot of pin action

Had this ball for over a month now (20 games)...and this ball is very well suited for my arsenal.
Drill Specs:
Pin: Above and in between fingers.
CG:  Kicked out at 5 o'clock from pin 6" down
Weight hole:  2" at 3 o'clock from cg
PAP:  2 inches down from CG at 5 o'clock.
Surface:  sanded the ball with the 1000 pad

I have been a once a week bowler for about 2 months now.  Got this ball because I was struggling getting my other equipment to react soon enough.  This ball definitely reacts soon enough for me.  However, I bowl on AMF HPL 9000 synthetics and I have trouble getting this ball to react consistently downlane when I try to stroke it from 12 out to 6 or 17 out to 10 depending on the oil  pattern.  This ball suits well for me playing a power game.  Throwing straight down 8 or 9 with about a 17mph ball speed and a 20 foot loft.  This ball hits extremely hard and loud.  This ball knows how to kick the back row out pretty much every time.

The interesting thing about this ball I discovered at the pro-am for the pba in Mechanicsburg last week was that I could use this ball all three games playing straight down 11 on the pro-anvilane lanes.  When the lanes did get a little dry in the third game I moved two boards in and slowed the speed down and stroked it a little better.  At my home house, the lanes dry out starting at the end of the first game.  Since I have trouble stroking this I just switch balls and move in and put this ball in the bag. I do have the appropiate equipment to switch for the drier lanes so it is not a big deal for me.

This ball defintiely serves its purpose for what I got it for.  I have since improved my first game average from 202 to 211 in the matter of 5 weeks with a 268 as the highest game and 218 as the lowest first game.

This ball is another awesome ball by storm, keep it coming storm!!!  I love the smell on this ball too!!!   Definitely a 10 out of 10 for what I use this ball for.

Ball Specs: 15 lb
            3 oz top wt
            3-4 in pin

Drilled: Drilled ring finger thru pin, cg kicked out, rad 2" right of thumb
(modified 4 x 4).

Man oh man. Used it for first time on a 42' 5 to 5 pattern. Played 12 to 8 first game, moved in to 15 to 10 second game, and 20 to 12 third game(Arrows to breakpoint). Normally not much backend from in and pretty wet/dry out.  Was looking for something I could play in with and not have it either burn up early or be too squirty. Shot 256-251-254-761. Most amazing thing is that my poorly executed shots still gave me a good look. Ball is smooth thru the front w/ an amazingly smooth/continuous recovery. Not real skid flippy like past Storm pearls I have thrown. And the way it dices up racks and throws messengers reminds me of my old cranker days w/ urethane. Acid test will be tomorrow night on a spotty 41' 5 to 5 pattern w/ deadish backends (only strip once a week.) I'll update after. Anxious to see how it reacts to different hand positions. But so far really amazing. Had many guys in the league asking about ball.
UPDATED: 12/23: Used ball on spotty pattern stated above. Ususally use my Thing Lives on this pattern w/ pretty good success (Averaging 224 on it). Well, lanes were a little drier than usual. Played 13 to 5 w/Thing Lives and had a good look. Decided I wanted to try the Paradigm. Normal release was way too strong. Went flatter w/soft release and ball really responded. Shot 232 them decided to try real deep (25 arrows to 10 at breakpoint) with more hand. Have never had a pearl ball respond like this. What a monster reaction. Clean thru the fronts w/readable midlane and massive pop at the end. Shot 228 257 last 2. Practiced afterward to really shake it down and it really responds great to hand positions. Really looking forward to a solid version of this ball (if it happens).

If you blame the lane conditions for your bad scores, then you had better thank them for your good ones!!

Ball specs: 16 lbs.
2 - 3" PIN
3 oz. TW

The ball's drilled with the Pin under the ring finger and CG kicked out.  At first i was not impressed at all.  The ball would go too long and not make the recovery back.  After almost thinking about selling it, I wet sanded it to 800 and it's like a completely different ball.  Clears the heads very nicely and is very aggressive on the backends.  There was just too much shine out of the box.  But now after the shine is off, I like it a lot and it hits like a truck.

i love my paradigm. its a monster on the oil. i couldnt believe that a high polished ball could do what it does. even after 50+ games, it still rolls just like it did out of the box, the ball was drilled 4x4 (my opinion when looking at the drilling sheet), the guy that drills my ball looked at me werid and didnt think that it would work, but i showed him, better yet the ball showed him. also was able to throw the new passion today and i think i might have to get that ball to go with my arsenal. i thought that the passion actually hit harder than the paradigm did if u can believe that. check out both the paradigm and the passion

at first the paradigm was a strong ball i had it drilled using layout 4c in the PSA guide book, used it in my league on tuesday night. on synthetic lanes with med-heavy amount of oil, this ball performed no where near my expectations. the polish on the ball made it look like i was throwing a plastic ball most of the night, even worse after 9 games of use it cracked right down the middle fo the cg. i was using an xfactor ace and now with this ball being useless im dropping storm and im going to go pick up a brunswick..... do not buy a paradigm, paradigm passion of the epx T1 the coverstocks will crack

I just recently bought one of these monsters and was extremely pleased...at least for the first five games.  Unfortunately, the coverstock cracked on the bridge inbetween the fingerholes halfway through game six.  i didn't get too upset because I know that sometimes these things happen, plus my pro shop was willing to compensate me for the damaged ball.  I wasn't even going to post this review until I talked to another scratch bowler in my house who had the exact same thing happen to his paradigm after only three games.  i started asking other bowlers and pro shop owners and found out there have been several other people who have experienced this same flaw with the paradigm.  As I said earlier, before it cracked I had nothing but praise for this ball and will own another one if Storm can fix whatever is wrong with their fantastic new coverstock.

Before they cracked they all loved their ball. 1 guy even threw a 300 game/804 series with it. Heard alot of priase but also heard alot of cover stock problems.

I have a Columbia 300 Messenger Ti (the original) that cracked from my middle finger left and it has not cracked anymore then were it was 4 years ago and I still use it on occasion. Just mark the cracks with either an engraver ot crayon and see if it moves any more, if not then it might be okay.

I felt in love with this ball when I first tested this ball out in the league I shot 176 200 and 251 627 series with that ball finished strong 3rd game with 6 strikes in a row. This ball was drilled 5 from my PAP and 2 from the RAD+ to my PAP and 2 Inch Pin Buffer the ball reaction was a hook, snap, and set drilling and axis hole was on my PAP. As I was saying using a hole on your PAP, with less positive side weight(possibly neg. side) will help towards achieving a hook set reaction. I had thumb issues but I fixed it last game I used my fingers without worrying about the thumb and that was my biggest adjustment I had to make by the 3rd game. I've bowled very well with this type of drilling overall in leagues last one I had it was 14 months ago from my first Ultimate Inferno drilled Heavy Oil 1L and axis drill on my PAP I hope I can keep it behind from me and move on.

Predictability- Grade A+- reads the lanes very well without overreacting on the backend without that dynamic transition.

Coverstock- Grade A+- coverstock is reliable and does not die out as other bowling balls do.

Midlane- Grade A+- reads the fronts good because the RAD+ is in the strong position.

Backend- Grade A+- has the backend that I need to endure inconstent transition and hit of the over and under reaction.

Overall- Grade A+- this is one of the strongest and reliable balls out there on the market today I like this ball I never had a problem with this ball give it a try today. This is our Paradigm. I use this ball for medium conditions with fresh backends. DO NOT USE FOR DRY OTHERWISE ENERGY COULD BURN UP TOO QUICK CAUSING A U TURN FAST OR NOT MUCH BACKEND!

Hi All, new guy here.  Just letting you know I also had a Paradigm crack in TWO places right above both finger holes with 2 games and 4 frames on it.  Storm is well aware of the problem and are replacing mine.  It is taking them quite a while (going on 4 weeks) since I sent it to them.  Personally I didn't like the ball anyway.  It hooked way to much for me.  Drilled 6X4 on the drill sheet.

My first Paradigm cracked.  It had small cracks centering aroun the pin that I noticed after 9 games and continued to get worse.  I had the ball replaced after 15 games.  The replacement ball has about 30 games and has no cracks.  I have seen 3 other Paradigms that have cracked.  Does anyone have othe info on the cracking issue?

New ball specs: Right handed, 15lb ball, pin is 2-3, above fingers and slightly to the right, CG is kicked out, PAP 2 1/2 below CG and slightly to the right.  I release at about 25 out to 7-10 with an average speed is 16.25 mph.  Ball is very predictable with oil and works great.  Rolled 721 and 728 first two sets.  Averaging about 224 with it the past month.  The ball tends to get very unpredictable with very short or dry patterns.

I noticed a small cracking from the inside the bridge , I hope it wont get out from there..

so far, I loved this ball and can't wait to try the new Passion ,, Bowl up a STORM

Drilled this one up for MAX backend!!!  Pin above fingers 3 3/8 pin to pap with MB in strong position.  This ball flies on the backend.  If you can't get this ball to recover off the dry then you may as well start playing checkers.

Despite the cracking problems this is a fantastic ball.  Mine cracked with less than 4 games on it.  I hand carried this one to Reno with me to prevent that but it cracked before I could use it there.  Not Storm's fault though bridge was too close.  If you are thinking about buying one of these make sure your driller gives extra room between fingers and has good bevel on al holes to prevent cracks.  Plugged and redrilled fingers and this ball is as good an new.

Layout give great length and very angular hook on backends.  This ball looks like someone kicked it when it turns the corner.  Love to watch it rev up in the midlane.  I have never seen a ball that revs this fast off my hand.  Hit is incredible and pins stay low on the deck improving carry %.  This ball makes it hard to leave Storm after 8 years but it will probably be the last one I buy for awhile.  Their equipment is good but not good enough to cost $30 or more than say "The One" or any other manufacturer's equipment.

Mine cracked after 3 games. The pin is about 3/8" from the ring finger (no inserts, fairly sharp finger holes). A crack developed that ran directly from the finger hole to the pin, and down through the shell to the core (about 1/2-5/8"). The pro shop that drilled it fixed the crack, and I haven't had a problem since.

Pin - PAP 4"
MB - PAP 4"
Pin - Midplane 3"

As Storm's drill sheet would put it, I have about a 2" pin buffer with this ball.  I have strayed from Storm equipment over the past couple of years.  The Vertigo was a really bad piece for me and the XXXs weren't stellar either, so it was with a bit of prodding from their rep that I finally tried this ball.  I had drilled many of them for customers and everyone seems to love this piece, but I was slow to try it myself.

The ball is amazingly clean through the front for the amount of roll that it develops toward the end of the pattern.  When this ball starts to see friction, it looks for it's preferred spin axis quickly.  I've thrown alot of Morich stuff lately, and my current favorites are the One and Big One, but this may very well displace the One in my bag.  All of the strong MB balls that I carry want to tip quickly but this one reads the condition a little better.  The quick revs at the point of friction and great forgiveness for a pearl make it very easy to find carry.

If you're looking for a ball that's clean through the front, rolls through carrydown, and makes a solid move on the big end, this could well be the one for you.  Good job to the folks out in Utah.  I'll be knocking holes in a Passion tonight as well.

Everyone around here has been drilling these up so I decided to give it a try.  Put the pin over the fingers and kicked cg out about 1 1/2 inch and put a medium hole even and to the right of my ring finger.  Kept it shiny.  This ball did not really impress me.  It rolled flat for me!  I could get to the hole, but was leaving flat ten after flat ten.  I move a little left and leave a bucket.  This ball did not stay in my bag very long.  However, I am the first person to drill one up and the ball hit bad so.....Could just be me! LOL!

I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and I was finally able to throw it last night.  I have it drilled in the 4x4A drilling.  Pin out 4-5 inches and 4.5 top weight.  Let me just say that this ball is an absolute monster.  When I finally moved far enough left to throw it, I couldn't have been happier with the results.  I didn't leave any soft 10s (knock on wood).  The only bad breaks I had were two 4 pins (they were a smidge high), an 8 pin, and a solid 7 that kept me from a 290 game.  The ball hits like a truck and keeps going all the way through the rack.  When the rolls down the lane it looks mean but it sounds even meaner when it hits the pins.  I actually went back into the pro-shop and had it re-weighed to make sure it was legal.  I have thrown a lot of bowling balls and this is the cream of the crop.  Storm keeps putting out quality equipment.

This is my 2nd Paradigm, purchased 4/20/06.  Had ball drilled up by Mike Miller(PBA)at "10 Pins and More" in Rio Rancho, NM. Ball started out weighing 15lbs 3 oz with 3.02 oz top weight before drilling and a 3.0" pin. Laid ball out with pin just right of the ring fingert(Right-Hander), RAD+ swung out 1 1/2" right of thumb, x-weight hole, box condition.
Threw ball on my typical house shot 38' buffed to 45' Synthetic up and around the 10 board(see profile for style), there is OB outside the 5 board.

I just got my second paradigm yesterday and "WOW".  Have it drilled pin above ring finger CG and RAD swung out 2 inches.  This ball flips insane.  Used it in a tournament and there wasen't really too much oil out there at all.  Light tournament shot, But the ball allowed me to get extremly deep, 5th arrow swing back to the first and shatter the rack.  Pins were everywhere.  Can't explain how good of a feeling that is when you have confidence in a ball like that, just a ultimate combo in a bowlers aresenal.

Ok, after drilling the first one up and not liking how it hit, the boss had me drill up another one alittle stronger.  I must say that this is a very good hitting ball.  When this ball turns over it drives through the pins extremely well.  I left the box surface on it and put the pin above and slightly to the right of my ring finger.  Kicked the cg and mass bias out about 2-2 1/2 to the right of my thumb hole.  What can I say it rolls great.  Gets through the heads very well and turns the corner nice.  The only thing you have to be careful with this ball is when you are on a house condition and you sneak it right early it reads the lane well and will jump on you.  I have had success with this ball on sport conditions as well as house conditions and I have been able to play up the boards and swing it.  This is a great versatile ball.

Good Luck and Good Bowling,

Mine just cracked again. It cracked in February, soon after buying it, between the ring finger and the pin. The proshop manager fixed the crack, and I didn't have any problems with it until this week. It developed fine cracks between the finger holes, above the finger holes in a semicircle, and one on the outside of the middle finger hole. I'm going to see if I can get these repaired as well, since I have a regional this weekend, and I'd like to bring the ball with me, even though I think it will be a little too strong for the short pattern they're using this week.

I just cant say enough about this ball.  This ball in my hands is by far the most versitile ball i have ever thrown.  On a house shot i can play the lanes straight up, swing the lane until its over the gutter.  Then this is probally the 3rd time I was on a sport shot with this ball.  First shot was the 36ft, 2nd time was the 41ft and yesterday was the 44ft pattern.  Each being challenging in you have to play different lines to make it to the pocket and this ball had like a homing device on it to always find the (1,3). Insane hitting power and just such a strong reactive cover.  Just the ultimate versitile ball. Gonna buy the Solid Paticle one to handle more oil.

This will definitely be the weirdest Paradigm review here.

My Paradigm came with an 11-inch pin (not kidding), 2.8 oz. topweight. It's a "pro-pin" ball, or you might call it a blem depending on whether you buy into the "pro-pin" marketing idea.

The easy thing to do would have been to invert the pin and drill this ball as if it were a 2-inch pin, upside-down to the label. Instead, we went pin over the ring, MB in the palm (correct as written) and CG about 5-6 inches due south of the thumb hole. The ball then got a lunar crater-sized weight hole about 4 o'clock and two inches from the thumb.

What we ended up with is a ball with MAJOR midlane read, nothing up front, and nothing in the backends unless you're bowling on a flood and just happen to have the ball pointed in the right direction.

As such, this is an extreme hook/set ball that is very condition-dependent if I'm trying to throw my normal shot. But it definitely has a place in the bag.

The upshot to this drilling is that I have extraordinary carry when the ball's in the pocket. This ball rarely leaves a corner pin, and is actually more prone to leave a light 7 than a 10. It is very effective at playing up the boards, and in this regard it excels on multiple conditions, because of its hook/set nature.

I imagine, drilled differently, that this ball could be anything from skid/snap to hook/set to medium. Like most Storm balls, it is very versatile. The only negative is the smell -- whatever "aromatherapy concentration" is, it stinks. But that's a small price to pay for having such a nice piece of equipment.

Pin to CG Distance - 3"
Drill - 5x3

I bought this ball for Nationals last year where I had it drilled 4x4.  I was only able to throw it 5 or 6 games before we left and really struggled @ Nationals mainly due to the approaches but also due to the fact that unless I played straight behind it with my hand, it wasn't consistent.  When the lanes broke down, I was dead because I couldn't get it to push.  When I got back, I asked them to redrill it to 5x3, which yielded much more positive results.

This ball is pretty versatile for me to the point that I can play it straight down the boards if the conditions are right.  Most of the time, I have to play left and feed it right.  A couple of things I noticed about this ball is that it has a pretty strong midlane and strong, but not snappy reaction.  It's not nearly as snappy as the Fired Up for me, but that's probably partially because of the drill and mostly because of the core designs.  For me, this ball is at it's finest when there's oil up front coupled with high friction back ends because of the smoother reaction.  I shot 704 in the AZ State Tournament with this ball and it could've been alot more if I was rolling the ball a little better. Carrydown and lower friction backends are trouble for this ball, but that's not a total surprise considering the coverstock.  The only downfall of this ball is that it's not anymore effective on house shots for me than some of Storms medium line balls like the Fired Up or the Thunderstruck solid.  That makes it hard to swallow the extra $75 I paid for it.

I'd like to take this ball and use it on some sport shots and PBA patterns to see what it could do there because I think that's where this ball will set itself apart from the Fired UP and Thunderstruck Solid.

Hey BR Family!

I acquired this ball from BR user Tracy Brockette (T Brockette). I left the drilling and layout alone and went ahead and plugged and redrilled it in the same spot. Our spans were nearly identical! I wanted to see just how good this Paradigm was and since it is supposed to be Storm's version of their High End Go Long and Flip type of ball.

I only have 15 games on this ball, but I figured that was enough to warrant some type of initial review. It has been used in league and tournament play. It has also seen game time on Wood and Synthetic surfaces. Here is what I've experienced, observed and noted down since I've acquired this ball in June 2006.

Versatility
In regards to lane conditions, I would say this ball is good for Mediums all the way up to slightly Medium-Heavy type conditions. On 2nd shift shots or when the lanes start to fry up, the ball in a polished state still cannot get enough push. The weight block, coverstock, my 15 mph speed & rev-rate ratio combined is too strong for dry lanes.

On another note, this ball will squirt on some carry down, hang or on Heavier oiled lanes. On Heavier oiled lanes, I would find myself squaring up to the pocket, but with the Pearl coverstock, it just fights to get through the oil. I'd rather take something with a Solid coverstock that could handle more soup. The jury is still out on this ball on whether or not it will adapt to a light scuffing or a sheen finish. I'll let you know if I decide to experiment with a sheen surface in the future.

Hook
With the Pin up over the ring and MB around 75*-80* degrees, this baby turns on the back with the best of them. On normal crowned/top hat style house shots this ball recovers with a pronounced "Hard Arc." I wouldn't call it Flippy, but the shape it produces on the backend is more of an angular motion.

Length
With Ebonite Factory Polish applied over a 1000 grit surface, the ball seems to clear the front and mids with ease. When the heads/mids break down, I find myself chasing the oil in a little more and this seems to get the ball to push. With this ball, if I get it through enough head oil, it usually gets the job done and gets me enough push before it starts to make it's hard move to the pocket.

Control/Readability
The natural ability to clear the heads and a hard arcing backend do not qualify this ball as a control ball (for me at least). I have a Columbia U-Turn Particle Pearl scuffed at 800 grit that reads the lanes and arcs evenly on the back for control. If I need some help in the back, I usually pull out the Paradigm.

Experience on PBA Pattern #5
On August 19, 2006, I found myself practicing on a somewhat broken down PBA Regional Pattern #5 Pattern (After a win a spot event). On this pattern, the ball was too strong on the back if I got the ball in. It would squirt on the outside where there was an OOB. Best line to the pocket semmed like a slow hook from around 18 playing a small swing to about 12-13 at the breakpoint. Other than that, this ball was too strong for the backs and too squirty in the oil. My U-Turn Particle Pearl was a better choice as it blended out this tough PBA Pattern. Neat experience for my first time on a PBA Pattern though!

Hit & Carry
One thing I've noticed is that it mixes up pins a bunch when encountering those light pocket hits. For me so far the Hit this ball generates is outstanding. So far I've left a couple of solid 8 pins, but other than that, the carry has been awesome.

Compared to Other Balls in my Arsenal
Ebonite The One (Virtually Same Drilling) 1000 Grit W/Ebonite Fac. Polish -The Paradigm has a heavier arc while the One is snappier. The Paradigm will also handle a pinch more oil with the same surface prep.
Brunswick Rampage - The Paradigm will check up a little earlier than my Rampage with Pin over ring finger and CG stacked below. It will also handle more oil than the Rampage. Rampage gives me about the same hard arcing motion, but later down the lane
Columbia U-Turn Particle Pearl *800 Grit Scuffed* - The Paradigm will clear the heads and midlane better than the U-Turn. It also has a mroe angular backend than the even-arcing U-Turn. You can truly see the difference when you throw these two balls side by side.
Storm X-Factor Vertigo 800 Grit - The Paradigm and Vertigo have almost the exact same layout/drilling. Paradigm goes down the lane a pinch further. The Vertigo has more of a hockey stick type shape movement. These two balls compliment each other well. I believe they both have the RAD+ weightblock as well.

Overall Impressions and Final Thoughts
I really like this ball a lot. This is my first encounter with Storm products since the Orange Flame Reactive and Original Eraser PBT Reactive. I'd have to say with all the problems Storm had with the first batches of Paradigms cracking, they have stepped up and corrected the problem with flying colors. I see myself buying Storm in the future. The RAD+ weightblock is also very impressive as it revs up quickly. I def. would like to see them utilize the EOX coverstock more. If you need a ball that will handle most Mediums to Medium-Heavy, I would suggest the Storm Paradigm.

Got this ball about a year ago.. I must say ball is a beast.

I am about a 180 average, have been bowling since I was 5 (currently 19) at a very tough house.

39 foot pattern house shot, with not alot in the middle.

Ball goes out through the heads clean, hits the dry and makes the turn amazingly.

Have had some great scores with this ball, my first 2 700's and I have had 10 in a row twice.

only complaint is that I must keep it very shiny or it starts to get inconsistant in the reaction...

All in all a brilliant ball by storm...

This review will have several layers of dust on it, so here goes...

I have had the Storm Paradigm since late May of '06.  It is a fourteen-pounder with a very strong drilling.  With the higher RG and lighter weight, I chose a 4" X 4" setup (pin to PAP, RAD to PAP).  My thanks go out once again to Mike Corum of Empire Pro Shop at Southwyck Lanes in Toledo, Ohio.

The smaller weight allows me to generate more revs AND more speed.  I love the fact that this Paradigm will not deflect through the rack; it has early pickup with a strong, continuous backend reaction.  I have used this ball on both house AND Sport conditions, namely the PBA Chameleon and Scorpion patterns.

This rock lives up to its name: a Paradigm!

This is my second Paradigm review, because I now have a second Paradigm. (g)

This one, unlike my other one, is not a pro-pin ball. This ball came with a 4.5-inch pin, unknown top weight (ball was bought used). Drilled with the pin over the bridge, about 5 inches from my PAP. This is my preferred drilling on most balls.

We took some of the polish off. The ball is at 1000 grit.

Ball has been tested on a variety of house shots, nothing more difficult yet. Most frequent shot it sees is a low-volume THC but without a real flood in the middle. Ergo, the track burns up fairly quickly and most people end up having to go to weaker equipment/drills earlier than otherwise.

With the drill and surface prep on this ball, it stores energy nicely, makes a decisive move to the pocket. By far the most impressive attribute of this ball, however, is its pin carry. Like my pro-pin Paradigm, this "regular" Paradigm has incredible drive through the pin deck and doesn't leave many corners.

If anything, I've had issues getting the 9 out. The ball allows above-average recovery outside without overreacting off the dry. It also offers me good hold on pulled shots.

I'm very happy with this ball and hopefully will always be able to have a Paradigm or two in my arsenal.

Great Ball, actually my first Storm ball. I have it for 8 months now, bought it used in about 95% condition. Here we go...

Drilled 4.5" to PAP, above finger and about 50 degree angle, finish OOB.

In THS synthethic this ball is monster for me. I love the length and power it brings when it made its way to the pocket. One thing she didn't like is carry down. When it becomes dryer I usually take her out again and play from deep left, but I have to make sure I stay away from carry down.

On 37 feet christmas tree wood lane, I have to cross the ball standing on 25 throwing it to 15 and brake on about 5. On this house I have to keep the speed up for it to avoid early break point.

Overall, I like this ball very much for its consistency and awesome hit/carry. The down side only in carry down. If only they have this ball with particle load inside to overcome the carry down....

16lb Ball, Medium to Heavy Oil, Pin Above fingers to center.

I bowl 13.8 mph with a high rev.  This ball was obviously not designed for me, but wanted to get a big hook ball for tournaments with heavy Carrydown.  I have found great sucess with this ball is exactly that situation.  This ball hits HARD.  I do have a complaint though, if the ball becomes even slightly off axis it never comes back.  I find the same happens if I try to put more revs on it to try to get it to come in harder (which, I'm probably getting it off axis because of).

I find my Jolt Pearl responds better/harder if I try the same tactic of increasing revs.

Overall the Paradigm is a great ball if you stick to the basics.

I just used this ball on the cheetah pattern and I was very good.  I have mine drilled lefty with pin down and cg out to the left.  This ball gave me plenty of length and still had strenght for the backend hit.  carried well and was very consistant on the break.
I used a playmaker for league and stayed after for more practice and this ball really shined.  the lanes were breaking down where I couldn't use the playmaker with great accuracy so switching to the paradigm I was able to move 5 boards in and still hit the same breakpoint with power for the pocket.
This is one great ball.
