Introducing the latest pearl release in the Hot Line, the Punch Out. This ball utilizes the turbine core wrapped around the famous R2s Pearl Reactive Coverstock and comes at 1500-grit polished factory finish. The Punch Out at 15lbs comes with an RG of 2.55 and a Diff. at 0.038.
After throwing the Punch out on multiple conditions, I saw a great length with a strong wicked backend motion. On house conditions, I was able to stand left and get it far right into the friction and saw a tremendous amount of backend motion as it packed the pocket. On sport conditions such as USBC Open Singles/Doubles and Team event patterns, I saw this ball come into play after the oil started to transition and the oil carried down. I was able to move inside and this ball allowed me great push through the fronts and didn’t over hook in the backend. It allowed me to get in and wheel on it and showed some room for tug. Compared to the Lights Out, this ball goes longer and has a stronger snap at the breakpoint.
Based off performance, I give this ball an “B+.†Great backend and hook for the price point. Based off cosmetics, I rate this ball an “B.†The orange logo lettering doesn’t stand out on the white as much as I thought it would. The colors of this ball looks very similar to the wrecker, so it is a little hard to differentiate watching it go down lane if it is a wrecker or a punch out.

I drilled this one as a ball down for my Byte. I’ve rolled a few tournaments where the Byte just becomes a bit strong and need another option. I decided that’s what the Punch Out would be.
The first use came on a late league 3rd game. I had been using a Defiant Soul and it was just rolling up too early. I pulled out the Punch Out and attempted to keep the same line. Oh but no… The Punch Out is significantly longer than my Soul. I had to work a couple of frames to get it right, and once I did, it was quite nice. It has exceptional length, but it really makes up for it with a sharp move on the back end. My Lights Out always seemed to be a bit early for where I wanted it in my arsenal, but the Punch Out seems to fall exactly where it should. With this layout, I can see this being a late league or late shift tournament ball. It may even work well on a THS with lower volumes, but the length that it achieves will be a problem on higher volumes.
I also tried it out during the practice session on PBA Regional Chameleon (43’), old wood. During the last half hour of the practice session, I really found a good look with this ball. The motion was quite similar to the Byte, which is what I wanted. My Byte has always been more successful on tournament patterns than a THS. The Punch Out really got down the lane and cornered as needed on the beat up 43’ and could have been a viable option during qualifying, but the lanes don’t open up in qualifying the way they do in practice.
From what I’m seeing, the Punch Out rolls very similar to the Uproar. It has exceptional length, but more than makes up for it with an angular breakpoint. With the success of the Uproar, I believe the Punch Out will be a must have for anyone who liked the reaction of the Uproar. I’ll be putting more games on this one to make sure I know where it needs to me in my arsenal.
This is a great all around ball that could help any bowler’s arsenal. Being a light bulb symmetric core give you so many options for your favorite layouts. I would suggest this piece for any serious bowler wanting something angular.

This ball is the definition of versatility and can fit into everyone's arsenal. The R2S cover allows the ball to get through the fronts unlike any ball on the market. The Punch Out is smooth off the breakpoint and very predicable. Once this ball leaves the pattern and sees friction... The pins are history. It takes well to surface adjustment whether you want to sand it or polish it. This ball works best on medium to dry patterns and is a powerful step up from the Tropical Breeze. At this price point this ball is a steal. When you're stepping up into the tenth and need to Punch Out this is the true ball champions chose.

The Punch Out features the proven R2S Pearl Cover Stock with the very reliable Turbine Core. This ball gets down the lane with no problems and makes a wicked move off the spot. This will be a great ball for someone having problems getting balls through the heads or looking to create entry angle. The first time I used this was in game 3 of league. I had been throwing the Wipe Out and towards the end of game 2 I was having problems with the Wipe Out picking up to quickly.
The first ball I threw with the punch out I was amazed as to how far down the lane it went. I thought I had gotten it way too far down and out too late and the ball came screaming back to leave a solid 9. Right then I knew we had something special.
Anyone looking for a ball that goes long and makes a sharp turn can look at this ball. This would be an amazing option to have after the shot has begun to break down. This ball will allow you to open up the lane and get through the fried heads and still retain enough energy to destroy whatever it hits.
If anyone wants to build a great 2 or 3 ball arsenal pairing this up with the Wipe Out and Lights out will not disappoint. Check out the video to see this ball in action !!

Storm Punch Out Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
The Punch Out is a ball that is well worth its price point. It packs a ton of power for its punch. Marketed as a mid-performance ball, I feel this ball can be used in many different ways. I will get the most use out of this ball on high friction surfaces and when the front of the lane starts to hook and my feet need to be left with my eyes to the right. I don’t see myself using this ball on fresh sport patterns or flatter conditions. The response time is very quick, thus requiring some oil down lane to slow it down.
The one I drilled is approximately 5 ½ x 4 with a hole two inches under my axis. This puts the pin in my middle finger. Out of the box, this has to be one of the most angular balls I have ever thrown. Typically, I am not a huge fan of that type of reaction because of the risk/reward profile it presents. The extra hole helped slow down that response time, but I also used a 2000 pad by hand to help knock the shine off. This controlled the motion a lot more and made the Punch Out hook when it sees oil and not make as jerky of a motion off the friction.
To recap, I love the Punch Out on house patterns and sport patterns when after the pattern has developed and become more tapered. On fresh sport patterns, I think this ball will be too responsive. When the time calls for that motion, this is a perfect fit. I also find the Punch Out still reads the mid-lane strong enough so it doesn’t blow through the break point.
If you are missing that stand left/throw right ball that you will use late in blocks or when the lanes start to hook, the Punch Out is the way to go!

I drilled my Punch out with a 5in. pin and went with 50*5*50 layout. This ball is a great compliment to several balls in my arsenal. Its very clean through the front and middle part of the lane. The change of direction isnt too sharp downlane. Makes it a very versatile ball. I really like it so far when the lanes start to transition and i need something that will get down the lane with not alot of effort and that will not over hook on the backend. It goes really well with my Wipe Out. Definitely a go to ball when the lanes are really dry.

Well this ball is surprisingly awesome. I went with this drilling just to play down and in on house patterns. This ball has great recovery for Storms lower line. I have used the past couple months in league play and look forward to this being a big seller in the proshop. The black berry scent along with white/charcoal look and the back end reaction this ball has will be good for the entry level to experience bowler to use in league play.
Similar core to the Lights out the Punch corners and has stronger recovery.
The Punch Out along with the new Wipe Out make a great 1-2 punch for league play.

The Punch Out was released in May and is in the Hot Line series. The Punch Out and the Wipe Out were introduced together. Both releases utilize the same Turbine Core that is the only similarities between the two releases. The Punch Out has the R2S Pearl Reactive cover stock whereas the Wipe Out has the R2S Solid Reactive cover stock. The Punch Out is a go long ball with a dramatic reaction on the backend. With that being said I drilled my Punch Out pin down with a slightly large hole down also…. The coordinates are 75 X 5 ¼ X 45. My axis point is 5 5/8 over and ¾ up with medium to slow ball speed (15mph to 16mph) with a rev rate around 300. I am right handed and my I am more up the back of the ball.
The Punch Out with its pearl cover stock is perfect for medium to light volume patterns with really good backend. On a typical house pattern, I was able to square up and go up the dry with success and follow it left as it broke down. However, the Punch Out needs dry to react and the farther I moved my feet left the more I had to get the Punch Out to the right. The launch angle became extremely drastic. At the same time, I was using the Wipe Out and I could move my feet and breakpoint to the left because of the solid cover stock. However, the backend motion was stronger with the Punch Out than with the Wipe Out. The last pattern that used the Punch Out on was a version of the Cheetah. The Punch Out made this pattern look easier than a house pattern with recovery and hold. I could square up and also give the Punch Out room to the right. The Punch Out really got through the front part of the lane with ease and the backend motion was impressive. I also used a Tropical Heat Pearl to see what the differences were and what I noticed was the Tropical Heat was not as easy to control as the Punch Out. The Tropical Heat was more sensitive to the pattern. If the Tropical Heat touched the dry too soon it jumped but if you did not get it to the dry no reaction. The Punch Out blended the pattern and made it easy to get to the pocket.
The Punch Out will be in my arsenal for the shorter and lighter oil patterns.

The Punch Out is a ball that can exploit the weaknesses of any medium to dry oil pattern, especially house shots. The ball has plenty of down lane flip, and saves up lots of energy for going through the pins. This is a ball that I can see a lot of use out of, being that the house shots I see in my area rarely are above middling oil levels, and the Punch Out shines when you have to get left and circle the lane some, without sacrificing pin carry.
The Storm Optimus is a great running partner to the Punch Out, as it is a few boards stronger overall, and has some more midlane roll to control fresher oil. The Punch Out is an easy 3-4 feet further down the lane than the Wipe Out, with better energy retention. You will see the Punch Out run over the 8 pin pretty often.

The Tropical Heats are reborn with a serious upgrade in the form of the Storm PunchOut. Same proven Turbine core, but with a new cover in the R2S Pearl Reactive which is found on the very popular HyRoad Pearl and IQ Tour Pearl. The result is a much stronger and more predictable motion in the mid lane and on the backend. For those who were missing the Tropical Heats or want a ball to fit between the HyRoad Pearl and the IQ Tour Pearl, the PunchOut is the best option. The RG (2.55) and Diff (0.038) fall exactly between those two balls. You can drop the pin and get a smoother motion or raise the pin and see a much sharper backend. This makes the PunchOut one of the most dynamic balls on the market.

First of all, if you owned the Turbine core previously, then you know why this ball is a must! One of the selling points of the Turbine core is that it works for a range of styles. One of the big selling points for the rev-challenged is that it revs up. For those who can make the ball look like a blur, this ball just opens up the down lane motion.
The ball is smooth but it does show some muscle down the lane. If you are after a more angular move than opt for the Hy-Road Pearl. The Punch Out has no trouble finishing even with the “lake†known as a top hat resting in the middle of the lane. When you drill a Punch Out, for a lot of people it may be the first ball out of the bag. Lower RPM guys will probably be able to use it as the lane break downs but the high octane guys will need to tame the drilling down if aiming it at the friction is the goal.
Stay alert and don't let the white & charcoal rock run you over!!!

The Wipe Out and Punch Out are both drilled the same pin above the ring, cg out a little bit with no hole. Both with the same great cover stock technology that has been used on many balls the R2S which is my all time favorite Wipe Out being a solid and Punch Out being a pearl. Both great balls for a house condition on typical day of league or when your bowling on a higher volume oil pattern and your other equipment starts to lose its down lane motion when the lanes start to dry up you can go to one of these that will get down the lane saving energy when the heads are burnt.
Wipe Out being a solid it is smooth on the back end and controllable. For a medium to dry lane ball it is one of the strongest balls money can buy in its lineup. Punch Out is a pearl that has a wicked back end motion for a low end ball. For low end balls they both pack a punch. My best experience with these 2 have been on house shots during a tournament when the inside is oil and outside is dry and I just stand a little right and watch them slide left and make strong moves on back; Wipe Out being smooth and Punch Out being stronger on the back end. Only thing you have to make sure is be consistent on speed especially if its on a little bit more oil other than that you will have fun with both of these.

The Punch Out is the latest pearl ball in the Hot Line from Storm, The Bowlers Company. The Punch Out has the proven Turbine core wrapped with the R2S pearl cover. The Punch Out is white/charcoal in color and smells like blackberries. The 15lb ball has an Rg of 2.55 with a differential of 0.038. This cover and core combo, offers a generous amount of recovery on the backend of the lane compared to other balls in this price point.
The Punch Out is all about saving energy and change of direction. The comp ball for this Punch Out will be an identically drilled Freak’n Frantic. Both balls have the same cover, and the Punch Out is basically the replacement in the lineup for the Freak’n Frantic. Both balls are drilled 5x5x2. The Punch Out gets down lane a little straighter than what the Freak’n Frantic does. Since the Freak’n Frantic has a lower Rg and higher differential, I need to add a little more head belly to the ball in order to keep it in the pocket. I can basically stand at the same spot with the two balls, but move my eyes in deeper for the Punch Out, and it will still push out to the same break point. This makes the Punch out more beneficial for me when there is a little less oil in the heads, and I need the weight block to roll to the spot easier without it hooking too early. The Punch Out is “snappier†on the backend, allowing for a change in entry angle that helps my carry percentage as I migrate further in on the lane.
I like the Punch Out. It will have its place in my arsenal as a very moderate step down from my Freak’n Frantic, and a slight step up from my Roto Grip Uproar. This is a good bowling ball for the price point. The cover and core has been proven in years past, and compliments the Wipe Out and Light’s Out perfectly. Between these three balls alone, the average league bowler could have a near complete arsenal, at a very handsome price point that will cover most average house conditions. Really this ball is just wicked. When the lanes get dry this one is a ultimate weapon. Finding its way through the heads seems almost effortless even on the driest of conditions. When it comes off the end of the pattern it turns left and goes through the pins like they aren't even there. It makes such awesome angle and keeps so much energy at the pins its amazing.
The Turbine core strikes up another winner in the punch out!
If your house doesn't like to put out oil and you always find your equipment burning up or checking up early this is a great one to consider!
Lots of use and a great rolling ball at a value price point, cant beat it!

The Punch Out is Pearl Version of the Wipe Out in the Storm's Hot line. I drilled mine 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 2 1/2 or 40 x 4 3/4 x 40. The reason I chose this drilling was to try and slow down the response time when this ball sees the friction. The Punch Out is very angular down lane off of the spot. The drilling did just that for me, as the ball is very strong at the breakpoint but controllable. I have used this ball on house shots and sports conditions. But on house shots I need to wait till 2nd or 3rd game as it is too strong on the fresh. Same for the sport shots, when the pattern transitions and blends out and I need to get left this is where the Punch Out shines. As I able move in and have plenty of recovery and hitting power. Very good and strong ball for the price point.

Compared to HyRoad Pearl at 3000 polished
After receiving the information regarding the Storm Punch Out I was on the edge of my seat waiting to drill this ball up. Ever since I was signed to Storm amateur staff I have been waiting to find a ball that could replace my Roto Grip shatter and I definitely found it in this ball. The layout we chose for this ball was 45 x 4 x 65. For this video I was throwing it out of the box 1500 polished but since I was out at Queens I have had it at 2000 abralon and that ball does the trick. All things considered it is in the Hot line of our Storm lineup, but this ball really performs like a midrange Pearl. Compared to the HyRoad Pearl my Punch Out is a hair more angular down the lane, so if my HyRoad Pearl (for some reason) stops kicking the corners, the Punch Out becomes my ball change. Also, I'll add that since I've done the videos I got the Optimus and even though the Optimus is a high end pearl and the Punch Out is a low end pearl, in my hand they make a similar shape and really play off each other quite well especially since my Punch Out has some surface making it a hair more aggressive then intended.

I don’t remember why but the Punch Out from Storm sat in my car for a long time without me using it. It might have got lost in the shuffle because I sometimes drill a lot of different balls at once, and on top of that I still use older balls that I like a lot such as the IQ Tour Solid and the Marvel S. Then one day I went to shoot the video for the Punch Out and I struck the first 9 times I threw the ball that day. I wonder if that was a fluke so I took the ball to league that night, on a completely different pattern, and I had one of my best nights in the summer league. I couldn’t believe how good this ball rolled, and how hard it hit the pins. Needless to say this ball now comes with me to every tournament.
What is amazing about the ball is it allowed me to square up, because I was able to trust that the ball would go through the heads and mid lane without me forcing it. Once it hit the back ends it stored so much energy it crushed the pins.
The price point on this ball is amazingly cheap when you match it to its performance. This ball as well as the Wipe Out is a perfect fit for parents looking for an upgrade for their kids that aren’t quite old enough or good enough to throw $200 bowling balls. It is perfect for someone looking to upgrade from the ball that they won in a have a ball league. At the same time this is a great ball for the scratch tournament bowler. This ball is a sleeper just like the Fringe was. It will perform well for many different bowlers, so I feel it belongs on the list the next time you’re thinking about buying a bowling ball.
