Its a pretty good ball. I like the length it has, with quite a bit of back end action on it. I would recommend it on on mid heavy to light oil conditions. I have left quite a few 10 pins with it, other than that its a great ball.

The Rapid Fire is a pretty ball! However, don't let the looks fool you. The way the Rapid Fire mistreats the pin is criminal. A picture of this bowling ball should be in the post-office or should be on America Most Wanted! Storm has always produced good bowling balls but on a typical house shot Rapid Fire is the King. My layout is a 4x3, with this layout I can play the same line almost the entire night with slight adjustments. The ball comapnies produced balls that are stronger, but in a typical league I look for consistency.

See stats for profile. Drilled one to try out.

Lay Out: 5" from PAP over my ring finger at a 60* angle. This would be a 60/5/40 dual-angle drilling. I have put a 7/8" weight hole on the axis to liven up the reaction in the midlane.

Surface: I have been leaving this at 1500 box Reacta Shine.

Purpose: To give myself a ball that could be used on patterns with medium volumes/medium distances. (I was looking for a WALL BALL for our league)

Initial Observations: I have tried this out on some house conditions and a US Open qualifier on a guardian-wood surface. This ball displays a lot of the "Stand Left, throw right" qualities which is what I was trying to achieve. On the US Open pattern, it was good for getting my target and feet separated. The surface in the center we bowled as is notorious for early burn. I was able to swing the ball more than usual and get it back.

Final thoughts: This ball gave me the indication that it could be "tweaked" by layout and cover prep. I have seen some of this by a few of the other players in our area who like Storm products and some of there layouts and the reaction potential of the ball.

Another good release from Storm and should be great for players looking to open up the lane after that first transition when the lanes get more wet/dry in league. This can be a good solution for players looking to open up there target and feet on tougher patterns once they transition.

I bowl for UCSB and use this ball regularly because it is so versatile for me in the 5x layout.

As long as you can adjust your line, you will never need to change balls with this one. By changing simple hand position and roll this ball can be used on lanes ranging from medium-light to medium-heavy oil patterns. Since most people don't bowl on patterns that are too oily or dead dry this ball is good for a league bowler to have in their bag. The core and cover stock give this ball a strong back end for those that can't put much hand into their ball.

Lane Conditions: Medium oil
Typical Conditions: Good ball for both THS and sport conditions
Type of Lane: Combination Synthetics
What part of the lane did you play? Standing 4th arrow from left, playing out to 10 board on THS
Did the ball track out? Makes a strong motion to the pocket, does not roll out.
Weight of bowling ball: 16
Lefty/Righty: Lefty
Surface of bowling ball: OOB
Likes:  Great length and snap to the pocket,  AND THE SMELL IS AMAZING!!!
Dislikes: None

I bowl Collegiatly with the University of South Florida, and i have to say this bal is pretty special. This ball is drilled with the pin above my ring finger with the CG kicked out. This ball makes it through the heads better than any ball in my bag, and makes a strong turn to the pocket and hits with authority.  I have used it with much success on both THS and Collegiate sport patterns, and would love to get another one and drill it differently to go with the one I have now.  It is another great ball from Storm, and can’t wait for the new equipment to come out soon.

P.S This balls sent is AMAZING. I have had it for 6 months now and the grape sent is just a strong as the day i pulled it out of the box. It's a great sent to go along with a great ball.

Lane Conditions: Medium THS, Heavy THS

Honestly i dont know my stats i have not had them done for me but i believe i am in between a tweener and a cranker.

My Observations:
All of the people that talk about the versatility of this ball are dead on i can move all over the lane and it carries from just about anywhere.  The Rapid fire is drilled for length and reacts just as expected.  It is not super sensitive in my opinion to hand positions or other small adjustments Small changes in speed, hand position, loft, or things like that change the balls motion just enough to be effective. we've all seen the balls where you bend your wrist and its all over the place but you un-cup it slightly and its like throwing a plastic ball. I also really liked the hit and carry this ball has. It really is amazing if this gets anywhere near the pocket 9 times out of 10 it'll strike. It holds its line very well, clears the head and makes a very strong move to the pocket and doesnt leave any question about who's in charge on the lanes. This was my very first storm ball and will not be the last.

I'm sure there is something wrong with me.  This ball seems like it has a lot of potential to be forgiving, but not if you throw it too straight.  I used it today in states and yes, it blows up the pins and comes back hard on wide shots. But I have to be honest, if you throw a good shot consistantly, it will not make up for the slight inconsistency in your throw (brooklyn/headpin).  I love my jolt, but it's old so I just ordered a street rod today in hopes to replace the jolt.  I encourage anyone throwing top end storm equipment to try some of their mid range.

Drill Pattern: 5x4 (pin over bridge) with small flare increasing hole
Surface: 4000 abralon

Strengths:  I have found the Rapid Fire Solid (RFS) to play better from inside angles, as it seems to come back from everywhere.  This is especially true on later games on longer sport/pba patterns, when you need to move left and bounce it off the burn area on the lane.  In addition, with my slower ball speed, I tend to have carry problems with other pieces, but not the RFS.  This is by far the hardest hitting ball I have ever owned, and I have probably owned over 100 different bowling balls from many different companies.  This ball clears the front of the lane very well, and i would describe its move to the pocket as a strong arc.  The RFS does not get completely sidewards on the back end, but definitely can create some angle into the pocket.  I have found it to be able to be used on most any length house/sport/pba pattern, except on anything extremely short or long.  Takes some getting used to at first, but once you get comfortable with the reaction, it seems to become one of your benchmark pieces.

Weaknesses:  The RFS tends to be difficult to use from outside angles, since it makes such a pronounced turn at the break point.  I am not saying it is bad from outside, but I believe there are better choices out there.

Comparisons:  The RFS is more ball than both my Gravity Shift (1500 Polish) and Spitfire (4000 abralon).  The RFS is about the same in hook potential as my Secret Agent (4000 abralon) and Rapid Fire Pearl (1500 Polish), but the Secret is smoother and the Rapid Fire Pearl is more angular on the backend.  The RFS is not as strong as my Special Agent (500 abralon) and Dimension (1000 abralon), as the RFS goes longer and makes a sharper turn than both.

Overall: 8.5/10 Great benchmark ball for those looking for length, recovery, and great carry on most any pattern you encounter.  A must for any serious tournament bowler who wants a ball that is playable on most anything.

Thanks for reading.

This is one of my favorite Storm Balls.  It is fantastic for the dry conditions or the short patterns such as the PBA Cheetah.  I bowled my first 300 with this ball.  The ball is laid with 4" x 4", with a shiny surface.  I usually start off with the a little more aggressive ball, and when the lanes start to break down.   I switch to the Rapid Fire Pearl.  Everyone should have this ball in their arsenal.

Well Ive been searching the Storm lineup for a ball that will give great standup in the midlane and good continuation. Here is the layout

4" pin to pap
pin 1.5" above midline
axis hole an 1.5" inside the val

looks like this

--0-0--
----p--
-------x
-------
---0----

I took the cover down to 2000 no polish and let me tell ya that this ball does exactly what I wanted.  I can get out of it with minimal effort and it creates the friction soon enough without having to feel like I have to grab a handful to get that.  It is a very smooth and continuous motion without too early of a read.  Ive used on a variety of patterns from a house shot to some of the heavier Kegel patterns with great results.  This is a ball that you can do alot with so dont count it out.

Hi folks, this is more of a question than a review, so I hope you can help me out. I have a Shift that is cracked around the fingers and also in the lefty's track area (I'm a righty.) I used it last night for the heck of it since my Brunswick piece is dying a slow death. I shot 748 with the cracked Shift and had people looking on amazed. Now I need a similar piece from Storm, 1500 grit polish, so I'm thinking of this ball and the Gravity Shift. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated...thanks!

very aggressive when met with the lighter lane conditions on heavier ball can go quite far down the lane. best on medium lane conditions so dry.

This ball has a 2-2.5 inch pin. The pin is directly above the bridge. The cg is below the ring finger kicked about a half inch off the mid line. I have had this ball is little over a year and half now and it still hits like a mack truck. The carry with the corner pins is awesome. The cover has been tweaked to fit some college sport patterns but the best finish is out of box. The best pattern for this ball is medium-medium heavy. If u need something that archs with a continuous back end this is the ball for you.

I just got a Rapid Fire less than a month ago and this ball is a very nice compliment to my arsenal. It has a very continuous motion to the pocket, and has a somewhat angular move to the pocket. My Rapid Fire is polished so it has a strong backend move, and clears the heads extremely well. great ball overall

This was one of my favorite balls when it first came out. I used it a lot of the time on a house shot, but it still works well on the sport patterns.
