Special Agent
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: 100.00
Intelligence has reported that conditions are becoming increasingly volatile. The agency recognizes this threat and has constructed a new, super device - code name: Special Agentâ„¢. Our laboratory has taken the EMCâ„¢ weight block and has encased it with the next generation of the original Reactorâ„¢ coverstock - the new R2Sâ„¢ Solid Reactive. Specially formulated for medium- heavy oil, micro additives give the R2Sâ„¢ amazing traction and friction.

Combined, this device produces heavier roll that smoothes out the transition and generates an unstoppable reaction to the pocket. The agency is depending on you - DO NOT FAIL

Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 1/2,no x-hole

I started with box finish (2000 Abralon) on a broken-down house pattern, but I couldn't get the ball to the spot because it was too aggressive.  I tried it on a longer high-volume Sport Pattern (42 feet, 26 mils, no buff-out).  The ball rolled very well, but I wanted a little more hook.  I put it on the spinner and used 360 Abralon, then back to the lanes. The ball picked up about 5 more boards hook, and still continued strong through the pins even with a lot of surface.

This ball is about 10 boards more hook than the original Agent for me on the Sport Pattern, and earlier and much smoother off the break than my Paradigm Domination.

I then polished the Special Agent and tried the fresh house pattern.  The ball still rolled very smooth, blended out the house pattern and made the back-end reaction very controllable. This is good for me, as my ball speed is a little soft, so I normally have trouble with over-reaction on the fresh house pattern.

This ball should match up pretty well for almost anyone, as the surface is very tunable and the ball reacts very true regardless of ball surface.

Purchased the SPECIAL AGENT from Mike Miller of 10 Pins and More in Rio Rancho, NM on November 9, 2006.
Ball Specs are as follows: 15lb. 3oz. 3.10 oz of TW before drilling and a 3.0" pin, ball is laid out with pin above and right of the ring finger (at around 2 o'clock from ring finger)) with a weight hole 6.0" from grip CL through the CG. Threw the ball on 38' of oil buffed to 45' with OB outside the 8 board using CONTROL oil. Current lane conditions were just after very light league play (only one team bowled on the pair I practiced on). Compared this ball to my DOMINATION, AGENT, and DOUBLE AGENT (all OOB condition). OOB the SPECIAL AGENT is about 4 boards stronger than the DOUBLE AGENT, it is much stronger in the midlane and overall hook than the AGENT and DOMINATION, but of course not as angular as the DOMINATION and AGENT. The SPECIAL AGENT was evidently much more stronger over the entire length of the lane, similar to the TRIPLE EXTREME, VERTIGO and PASSION in their primes. The ball does cover quite a few more boards than anything in my current line-up, but then again that could be due to "New Ball Syndrome". I am hoping this new coverstock will keep me turned-on to STORM Solid Reactives. In the past I have had mixed reviews with the Solids, maybe it's just that I don't match up well with them or I seem to experience a little ball death with them (even after extensive cleaning instructions I received directly from STORM). I will post another review later on after the ball tames down a bit or after tinkering with the coverstock.

Overall this ball revs up beautifully and carrys extremely well.

This new ball from storm that is strong and has more hook than my passon on oiler lanes and with the pin under the ring finger and the cg in the strong position,i could not throw it thew the break point and it could be the strongest ball of all my storms and with a roll that does not stop. I layout this one out for a friend at the shop and with his game more up the lanes and on a house shot he could move forth arrow and to the ditch and truckit right back , with the pin under the ring finger that i have on mine , and with a label drill one i have it is stronger than my passon and Double Agent , if you want hook this is the one with a new cover and a great weight block match , it can go head to head and out hook any other ball out to day ,try one if you need a oil ball ,you cant go wrong with this one.

I kept my Special Agent with the box finish.  It's very aggressive in the midlane and it seems like the ball never "squirts" through the breakpoint.  I used it on a regular house condition and it gave me the entire lane.  I was able to stay with it much longer then I expected.  Just made moves with my eyes and feet.

On a fresh sports pattern (40 ft) I had a little trouble on the fresh because it made a very strong turn on the backends.  Once they carried down some my reaction got a lot better and I was throwing pins all over the lane.

This ball doesn't grab as early as the Double Agent but more then makes up for it down lane.

The Storm "Special Agent": I kept it with the box finish and it's just amazing. Very aggressive through the midlane with a strong controllable finish. A must in everyone's bowling ball arsenal.

I drilled the Special Agent a couple of weeks ago and feel that I have thrown it enough to give a helpful review. I drilled the ball label and left it in box condition. The ball picks up very aggressively in the midlane and has an unbelievable backend and hitting power. It has similar midlane as the Double Agent, maybe a hair longer through the heads, with a much stronger backend. Probably at least 5 boards stronger on the back. Compared to the Agent, it picks up considerably earlier with a little less backend. Basically the ball fits nicely in the middle of the awesome Agent line. The new R2S cover is very impressive as it is just enough stronger than the original Reactor to put it on more oily patterns.I can't wait to drill a second with a stronger drilling and more surface to see just how much oil it can take on. Another wonderful addition to Storm's arsenal and potentially the best of the Agent line.

My PAP is 4 1/4 over 1/2 up
Right hand Tweener

Drill Pattern Provided by Steve K at STORM. 5" x 5" PIN above fingers and MB slightly right of the thumb hole. This ball is truely SPECIAL! Clean throught the heads and mid-lane with devastating hit and carry. Plan on keeping this one in box finish condition. No fear of playing in oil anymore. This is a must have for anyone looking a medium to oily lane condition.

Bowl up a STORM!

This is by far the most amazing ball I have thrown. I have thrown a few others by storm, a trama, xfactor reloaded and a diablo and loved them all but this ball carries better than any of the others. I have mine drilled with the pin about a half inch above the fingers, pretty centered between the fingers. Basically the same drilling I have had for all my other storms. My house shot is a basic christmas tree pattern, medium oil.

The thing I like most about this ball is it seems to find the pocket even if I miss a board or 2 on alot of shots. Mainly because of the oil pattern but nonetheless, is hits the pocket well. To give you an idea, my last year average was 206 and I have had 1 700 in my life. So far over the last 2 months, I am averaging 210+ and my last 3 series have been 740, 685, 742. And of the last 9 games I have had the first 7 3 times leaving 2 10 pins and 1 8 pin. But if you haven't guessed by now, I defintiely recommend this ball!

Tell you what as I get older I lose a bit more hand and feel that I may not have what it takes to open up the lanes when I need to. I drilled this ball up and wow I get back in the game!! I would say leave the box finish on this ball as it appears it may not get through the heads to well but sure enough it does. As Weber said on the show when he WON with it weeks ago, "Storm has a winner here" and I agree with him.

Wanted a ball for heavier/longer patterns to compliment my Thunderstruck Solid. Both balls driiled the same (Storm drilling #2)

Special Agent is just what the doctor ordered. As an example, on a 35ft buff to 38 pattern, was consistently in the pocket playing 15 at arrows to 10 at breakpoint with the Thunderstruck (I should specify that I took the cover down to 1000 abralon to tame down backend reaction). Had to play 22 to 8 with the Special in box condition. Used it last night on a 40 ft buffed to 45ft pattern (THS) and was very happy with reaction. Usually have to play straight up 10 with the Thunder until the mid lanes breakdown a bit. Was able to play 15 to 8 from the get go and only had to move to 19 t 12 as the breakdown outside took effect. If you want someting to be really strong in the mid-lane and super continuous at the end (not snappy). This is the ball for you.

If you blame the lane conditions for your bad scores, then you had better thank them for your good ones!!

Got this ball the other night.

tried this ball yesterday at a synthetic house that has a little carry down, THS.  This ball was great on the inside, but if I threw it out past 7 the ball would scream back to strong, but pretty much baught this ball for tournament use.

This ball is good in oil and says what it is supposed to.

This is probably the best ball out there, I have four of them now and use them more often than anything else. My favorite one is drilled 4½ pin to PAP, 90 degrees (stacked) , and small wt hole on my Axis. I also brought the surface  to 4000 Abralon and Highly Polished the ball w the Storm polish. The others are drilled stronger and in box surface w diff layouts, for heavier volumes of oil and are fantastic balls. Go get one.
