Probably the most reliable ball I have ever used. I can send it anywhere right of the 1-3 pocket and it will still hit inside the pocket hard. I can use it for a league or tournament and it is as reliable as ever. No matter how huch oil is on the surface it is extremely consistant shot after shot. It doesn't have a very good 1-2 pocket hit if it crosses over for some odd reason. I'll leave splits 90% of the time, but other than that it is the best ball I've ever used.

this is the STORM i've thrown,i've had the ER for about a year now and i love it,i can throw it anywhere on either wood or synthetics and it shoots back into the 1-3,but then again when your getting 400 revs anything will hook, but this is the best ball i've ever thrown, now i have to go out and get the new trauma so i have something with a nice snap to it,overall the ER is a great ball for oil but will hook on any condition if you throw it right

Ball Specs 15lbs, 1.75 top weight(after drilling), 4" pin, & w.s. to 1000 and polished
Drill specs- pin above bridge, cg kicked out right, mb in strong position
My house decided to prep for the fall leagues by laying on the oil a couple weeks before the start. I picked this ball up used. I always wanted to try this ball and a new drill pattern so it worked out well(since I am cheap). This ball was top notch on this med-heavy condtion. It easily out hooked anything I throw by 5 boards and just clubbed the living daylights out of the pins. I thought my Blaze hit hard but this one is special. I've only got 15 games on it and I've had more messengers take out the 10 pin than I've had all summer. On light hits the head pin shots back across like a rocket. I am really excited about this ball. First league set with it last week was a solid 694. The only problem I have is that when polished and the lanes have dirty backends or carry down it doesn't recover and drive like I would like. So I am going to experiment further. I have taken it down to 320 but haven't thrown it yet. I will just keep going up with the grit until I find my happy medium. Overall this ball is another winner from Storm and I continue to grow more fond of Storm. Good luck to all and find me the Pearl Urethane ball I am desperatly searching for.

The Ball I am actually reviewing is the Trauma XR which was released only in Japan to Japanese Professional Bowlers.  Was able to get my hands on one thru E-Bay.  Specs are as follows:  16 lbs. 4.94oz. topweight, pin 4-4.5.  Coverstock is ACCU-Tread Pearl Reactive with Ultra-Fleck.  Color is Purple/Yellow.  Ball is drilled with pin over the ring finger and mass bias in the strong position which produces and earlier and stronger breakpoint.  Extra hole added to make ball legal.  This ball is devastating.  Used it on a Xmas tree pattern and makes a strong yet controllable move to the pocket and carries everything.  Hooks about 8 boards more than my Trauma ER and actually outhooked my Buzzsaw Super Carbide.  First three games were 279, 258, 239.  It is hard to find any info. on this ball.  Every where I searched on the web, I was always taken to websites in Japanese.  Ball sold in Japan for $399.99.  If you ever see one on e-bay don't hesitate to grab it.  It is well worth it.  It is also very cool having ball nobody else has ever seen.  Thanks and Good Bowling!!!!

i got this ball used in vegas at a tournament when my old stuff wasnt working i dont know the topweight but it has a 3 inch pin.

i had this ball drilled with the pin under the ring finger and the cg kicked out 30 degrees. the ball has a 29/32 weight hole drilled 1 inch deep 4 1/8 down and 2 1/8 out from my axis. the ball is polished with diamond gloss. this is a really aggressive ball even when polished. the ball slides through the oil and when it hits the backend it snaps left and destroys everything in sight. the ball becomes a little squirty when it encounters carrydown and thats when i move to the shock trauma. i highly recomend this ball to anybody lokking for a go long snap and destroy ball.

I had this ball drilled for heavy oil conditions, 1" from the pin.  Not sure about exact drilling, but there was an imbalance in top weight and i have a hole that is barely legal in the side (LOL)
Anyway, I threw this ball on wood lanes with a 10-10 wall, a guardian-synthetic lane with about the same condition, and synthetic lanes here at Lindenwood with an 8 to 8 wall variant.
On all conditions, I found that it reacts very well and hooks very strong, and hits pretty hard.  I got the most hook and backend on the wood lane, although it sometimes got away and went high.  Shot a few 600s and 650s, only used it for 3 league nights.
The guardian-synthetic was at the PA state championships minor events, and very strong on the backend but the oil slowed it down somewhat and took away from the hitting power, but was still effective.  Shot 655 and 640.
The synthetics have a weaker, but more consistent reaction, which I like.  I've shot a few more 650s with it here, but not much in league action, I mostly bowl in practice with beat up conditions.

Reaction--7.5 (somewhat inconsistent but still a decent ball)
Value--8  (good heavy oil-med heavy ball)
Overall Rating--8 (have had better scores, but is a strong ball)

Last ball to review on this site of the many Storm balls I've owned, and nothing's different.  This ball is incredible, especially in the backend.  No other Storm ball has this kind of backend on everything but drenched backends.  When nothing else pulls up, this ball (and the El Nino X-IT, but not with this hard of snap)will.  I even put some polish on mine, and it does the job.  I drilled it for as much length as I could get, and it still sets up a little early, but that just helps the backend.  When I throw it right, it will be going straight when it hits the backend, and then it just decimates the pins.  It's not a slide and snap ball, it's a curve and snap/continuous hitter.  It's amazing, I've never seen a ball with this much snap in the backend that kept drilling through the pocket.  Most balls that I've seen that snap at the backend run straight through the pocket.  They take the five pin out straight on and run between the 8 and 9.  This ball, however, snaps right into the pocket and (I'm a righty) then proceeds to head straight for the 8 pin, pushing the 5 into the 9.  I have left a few 9 pins, but no more than with any other ball.  There's nothing more beautiful than watching the ball arc out between the second and third arrow to the 6 or 7 board, making a subtle move just before the backend and then crushing every single pin off the deck.  Nearly every shot I throw with it turns heads because of the noise it makes when it hits the pins.  Even when you make a bad shot and you know it, you still have to scratch your head when it leaves a pin or two, it doesn't seem possible for this ball not to carry every pin.

Very VERY Awesome Ball!  I first bought the ball and did not like it, it tended to flatten out on me, and I think I only shot 591 the first time I used it.  Terrible.  Things changed quickly!  I have since shot five more series and none were ever that terrible!  647 - 718 - 736 - 684 - and then tonight the ball just would not stop ....... 269 237 300 (805 Series)  I had 31 out of 36 Strikes and the only problem with them was Solid 9 Pins and one 4-9 split when I pulled the ball (converted that).  I just purchased a New Blueberry Buzzsaw but after using this ball more, I am not sure I need it!  Also, best of all, I got this ball plugged twice and only paid 25.00 for it, so I am shocked at its performance as compared to its previous usage.  I would love to try a new one and will be buying one shortly!

Well, I havent posted a review on this ball since the first one, which was about a year ago,But i stopped using the ball when i got my Recovery, But i did have the ball re-sanded from 400 grit, to 800 grit, and there is a ton of difference with the ball at 400,, it would set up really early and have nothing on the backend,,, and with the ball at 800, it would go longer and hook a ton at the end,, even on the oilest condition.  I have the ball drilled up with the pin under the fingers, and CG and mass bias in the positive, and a small hole on my pap. I will say that unless you have this ball polished up, this ball does need oil,

Got my Trauma ER drilled in mid-summer, plain vanilla label leverage.  I'm a medium rev stroker, a down and in "zone bowler" who plays a usually plays a moderate inside line and hits at around the second arrow on a standard house shot on synthetics.  I've had success with a Messenger Titanium in this house (back to back 300s in 2001 -- my first and second!).  The carrydown gets bad enough that an agressive coverstock is almost a necessity, and I've had to put the Messenger Ti away and use an Ebonite Vortex III or a Track Silencer to get the ball to hit the break point properly and turn the corner.

After a few weeks of shaking off the "lane rust" I came to appreciate the ER's devastating qualities.  I've shot 667, 694 and 687 the last three weeks, and my average is normally about 208.  Cover was left at factory finish.  This ball revs up early while still storing energy and while moving in a fairly smooth arc, closes quickly on the pocket, and crushes it.  In fact, I think I made a mistake in drilling a 16, because I've left so many 9 pins and a few "fast eights."  A lighter ball might have given me a better mix.  There are some balls and conditions that drain your confidence and make each shot a real struggle in concentration, just to hit the pocket.  The ER is NOT one of these.  In fact, I can't wait to hit the approach with it -- every shot is that much fun!   In fact, the last time I had ball from Storm that was so incredibly dominating (and I do have an Eraser, which I like), was when the Storm Thunder was released.  In the world of reactives, the Trauma ER strikes me like a Thunder on steroids in terms of reaction.

I bought this ball to replace my aging el nino gold as my storm heavy oil ball. This ball flips hard, turns and doesn't stop. Mine's polished w/the pin above and to the right of my ring finger, cg lined up with it, with an extra hole (was going a tad bit to long for my taste) this ball has no forgiveness for not being let out, when the lanes start to dry out, put this up, it's too much. 2nd ball out of my bag at all tourny's. 2nd only to my tour power.
The pleasure has been yours.

Update, after about 40 games with this ball.

The struggle with heavy oil and carrydown continues to be a war in the house where I bowl, but it's one which I am winning with this ball, which continues to have a combination of great read at the breakpoint,  and a wonderful closing arc, no matter where I throw it on the lane.

Shot my third 300 with this ball, two nights ago, when nearly everyone else was struggling with over-under.  Every ball was dead solid in the pocket.  No doubts.

A great job by Storm.

Just bought an X-Factor on the web, and can't wait to get it drilled up, so I can make comparisons with the ER.

Love this company!

I,m new here and thought I would give my opinion on the ER.  I bowled a little when I was a kid.  I,m 23 now.  I just got back into bowling in September of 2002.  I bought a regular Trauma and was averaging around 165.  I left it in my car for a couple of day ond it cracked from the hole in the side to my pin which is just above my ring finger, I,m right handed.  I don,t know all the ball drilling talk.  For about a montha nd a half I used a Piranha C/Core from like 1995 or something.  I shot 267 with that.  Got to the tenth and left a solid ten pin on a pocket hit.  Storm gave me an ER for my Trauma Being cracked.  After I got the ER my average finished the year at 180.  I also shot my high series to date which is a 686.  This year I,m averaging 192 in one league and 204 in another.  They are both in the same house, and I,m not sure why I bowl better in one league.  In the span of a week I raised my carrer high game from 267 to 279 another solid ten pin on a pocket hit on the tenth ball on a Wednesday.  On Friday I shot 299.  On the twelfth ball I tugged it a lot and it crossed over brooklyn and left a 5 pin.  I love the ER.  My wife is looking for a ball for people who are just learning to throw a hook.  Can I get some info from more expierenced bowlers.  My email is brother_jd@yahoo.com.
