I´ve just got my Recovery, and I´m asking Storm:
Why peppermint scent?
I´m gonna bowl with the ball. Nothing else. Please no scent.
I could understand if Linds made a shoe that doesn´t smell,
but I guess we´re not there yet.
However, I hope this ball is as great as the other Traumas.
I´ll pop mine tonight.

Another great ball from Storm.
This one hooks later than Trauma and Trauma ER
but most off all smoother. Yet the strongest ball trough the pins I´ve ever thrown. I have a stronger layout on this Trauma, pin 4,5" and MC2 close to PAL, wheighthole on PAL, than I have on other Traumas. I give this ball 10

WOW!!!!

Starting Specs: 2-2.5" pin 2.04 ounces top (I think).
Setup: Leverage. 3 3/8 X 4 3/8 (MB stacked with CG). Finished with 3/8 ounces side...and quite a bit of finger weight (I like finger weight).
Condition: Synthetics, oil 40 feet with an OB 7 out, backends not touched

This turned out to be more ball then I expected.  Yeah I set it up strong, but I thought that I would do that so that I would not have to do so much on my end (I am trying to stop strapping the ball. Bad wrist.

Now I followed the oil machine.  I started standing 25 laying the ball on 23 crossing 14 out to 9.........WHOA.  I could not keep the ball out of the nose.  So I slipped left five boards and RRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!.  This one is a lot stronger than the original Trauma to me and I loved that ball.  IMO it is definitely stronger than the ER (because it conserves more engery).  Now when I say that I don't mean that this ball goes long...not at all (at least with the layout that I have).  It has a very smooth roll, as I expected with the coverstock.  It is smooth rolling like the SP Pearl with a backend that will lift the pins so far off the deck you will feel the need to wear protective goggles and helmet. This will be a beautiful compliment to my SP Pearl.  I am going to throw it on 42 feet of oil tomorrow, if there is a significant difference I will post those differences.

Whew!  I plan to sweep the pots in my Friday night league this week with it...if I do...I am buying another one!

With the help of Storm Rep and Team USA Member David Garber, I drilled my Trauma Recovery the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  We had two PBA Regional tournaments Thanksgiving weekend, and I wanted the ball for them.

The ball is 15lbs with 3.74 top weight before drilling.  The pin was out about 4 inches from the cg and the pin, cg, and mass bias were all almost on line with each other.

We used about a 4 1/2 inch pin from PAP layout with the mass bias in a strong or 75 degree position.  We didn’t want to use an extra hole, but used a small one to get the ball back to legal.  For me, the pin is over my ring finger almost on my span line, and the mass bias is below right of my thumb hole.  Remember the look of the layout may vary depending on where your Positive Axis Point is.

We bowl doubles on Thurs and Fri of the holiday weekend, and my partner was David Jay, also from Houston.  There was only one squad, and we bowled two (5) game blocks on Mendes synthetic lanes and approaches.  They had brand new (AMF I think) pins in, that made carry tougher than normal.  The shot was outside 5.  I played about 15-20 with my feet looking about 4-7 down the lane.  I tried two different Tour Powers, and could hit the pocket at will.  My break point was just too far down the lane to carry very well.  I tried a shiny Nino X It, but had trouble getting it to turn the corner.  The lanes were drier inside about 12 to around 25, so the lay down area was not very good.  Then very slick again from 12 to about 5.  I shot -73 the first 5 with David’s +38, we were in about 16th place of the 29 teams.

The second block, I decided I was going to throw some more aggressive balls and try and open up the lane.  Playing farther right was not an option for me.  My dullish Super Power was pretty nice, standing about 25 looking about 7 down the lane.  This gave me a little more room left, but it was worse trying to make the corner from way outside.  So I pulled out the Recovery with a couple minutes left in practice.  Now I am 35-38 looking 14-15 at the arrows trying to get the ball dead right off my hand.  I had to get the ball to the slick at 5-10 as fast as possible.  Suddenly, I had the WHOLE lane, or it seemed.  As long as I got the ball right of 10 it went in the pocket and hit VERY hard.  The ball did not quit on the back end finishing over the 8 pin all the way through the pin deck.  I love balls that do this!  238, 229, 300, 258, 181.  The last pair hooked a lot more and I should have changed balls, as I had 3 big splits.

This ball revs up faster and hooks earlier than a Super Power or Trauma ER.  It has a sharper break point than both of these balls also.  It will not be a heavy oil ball as the pearl makes the ball go too long.  The tweeners and straighties will be able to use this ball a lot.  The big hand players will need some oil in the fronts.  Higher speed players will be able to use this ball on most medium lane conditions but will have to put it away on oily lanes.  Hope this helps ya.....

I drilled up a Recovery fopr myself last week and finally got to use it on a decent shot. All I have to say is WOW!!!! But first the specs etc...

Pre drill...pin out 3-1/4, 2.009 top weight
Pattern...3-3/8 x 3-3/8, no weighthole

Post drill specs...5/8 top weight, 7/8 side and 1/4 finger

Now I drilled this ball to replace my Eraser and Erase It. I went with the aggressive drilling to put the ball (hopefully) just a notch below my X-it but just above my Trauma ER. My Pearl Trauma pretty much takes care of anything else I run into so I figured why not?

This ball flat out screams off the corner. I have never thrown a ball that hits this hard and is so consistent across 3 games. The ball has an incredible hit and mix on heavy, flush and light pocket hits.

House shot is simply a 36 foot christmas tree with 60 units in middle with 5 outside. Was able to play all the way into 4th arrow (nowhere near my normal ability with even the ER) and it still hit well.

Awesome ball Storm...Way to go...a solid 9.5 out of 10. Could be a 10 but I'll let you know.

drilled 4 x 4 small deep hole on PAP.

My new favorite ball
It is great on drier conditions, but not too much
with the factory polish

On mediums it thrives from different angles

On oil there are better choices, but I imagine if scuffed this would
be just fine.

I love the versatility of this ball.
When I compare it to my first Trauma that I thought was squirty and
sometimes too long,it is a great upgrade

And I usually hate Storm products so this ball is for real.

Just laid this out last week with a 5" pin MB on the axis plane.
Right Handed, Power Tweener.
Out of box finish.
No extra hole due to the fact that the CG was about 2 inches off the Pin/MB line. all I have to say is if you dont like this ball you had better have your head examined! This ball clears the heads cleanly and recovers better than just about any other storm ball I have thrown.(and I own them all!) The particle load is perfect. Great blend of control and flip. Great on most medium to heavy volume conditions but needs extra polish when the heads start to go away or go to a different ball. Fits extremely well into the storm line and compliments the ER and Trauma very well. The hit is as good as anything out there! Plays well from anywhere on the lane. I have used it from second arrow to inside 6th arrow and had the same great results so far. will have to see how well the cover holds up to tracking and wear and tear but so far so good. I dont bowl on the fluff stuff so its not just a good league ball!!! Keep up the great work guys!

I first have to say this, WOW, what a ball!
A little backround info.
I've been lurking around this site for awhile, but this ball has "forced" me to finally write a review.

I am a league bowler with a 170 avg.  This year I have been frustrated cause I don't hook the ball as much as I would like.
In an attempt to fix the problem I bought Three new balls this year.  I have the purple monster, Reaction Roll, and the Raging Red Fuze.  None of these balls was hooking the way I thought they should.  So with the help of my pro shop guy, he told me about this great new ball, the Trauma Recovery.  Says it hits like a truck.
Oh my, was he ever right.
With all my other balls, I sanded them down, even the Fuze was brought down to 320, still not enough hook.
I notice at the house I bowl at, the guys who play the inside line and bring it back into the pocket carry more strikes then me playin the outside line.
I normally would throw the bowl strait out over the thrid dot, and hope it came back into the pocket.  With the lanes being normally fairly oily, I was only getting about 5-10 boards of hook.  My dad says I throw the ball too fast, but I'm only at 15.5Mph.  To get the hook I wanted, I needed to slow my ball down to a point where it felt unatural.
Bring in the Trauma Recovery.
At practice, played the outside line, over 2nd dot, and it came in very strong.  But, I was leaving 7 and 10 pins on almost every shot.  Brought it into the pro shop, and had it sanded down to 1200. (factory is 1500) It was already hooking more than any of my other balls, but I was looking to play inside.
After sanding, Oh lordy did this ball hook.  I was able to play inside.  I started the first game standing on the 2nd dot over from the middle, and out over the 2 dot.  and it came back every time.  By the third game, I was standing in the middle of the lane, throwing over the 3rd dot.  Ball was going out about 2/3 the lane, then WHAM! back into the pocket.
I absolutely love this ball.  The only problem will be on dry lane conditions, which I don't have to worry about at my main house.  But, I think this ball might be too much on the dry stuff.
I give this ball a 10!

Sorry about the long review, hope this helps!

Here's an update to my previous post on this fantastic ball.

After logging a few more games I can provide some more insight. This ball carries VERY well from inside. The normal shot for me in our house is stand 20, play 12 to 5 swing with Trauma. Well, was struggling so I decided to move left. Ended up standing 32 and playing 4th arrow to 12 and this ball would blow rack after rack. I have never had this kind of carry or hook from any ball. I even tried the 5th arrow and if I could keep from swining it too wide it would carry from there as well.

Excellent ball and it does not seem to be tracking up too badly either. I love this ball. Thanks again Storm !!!!

I was skeptical about buying this ball. I hated the ER, to much over under for me.  As a matter of fact the last storm ball that I liked was the green bolt.  Enough blabbering. I drilled this one with a 5 inch pin from my pap.  My pap is 6 over and 1/4 up.  We put a weight hole in it to make it legal and the MB is kicked way out at 25 degrees.  On dry lanes put it up, I don't know what BTM was talking about saying this is a good dry lane ball.  On heavy oil put it up there a a lot of better choices.  On your basic house shot tell everyone else to put there balls back in the bag and go home.  IT IS A MONSTER BALL.  It revs up in the midlane and revs up some more when it hits the dry.  Someone told me that this balls changes gears down the lane.  On the fresh shot I stand 20 roll it out to 13 to 7.  This ball does a pretty bannana and hits hard.  When I release it I wait until it hits the dry and I yell out RECOVER, and recovers it does. Awesome ball.

I don't know about the rest of you but this ball has more hook than any Storm ball I have ever thrown. Layed it out 5x5 and although it had a fairly decent push to the right it could use a little more polish. The hit was incredible and kept the pins really low which I haven't seen from Storm too often so even light hits mixed the pins up well. It was the regular house condition 40' tapered to the outside and a nice taper on the end. This ball would not be good for dry lanes but if you need something for oil this would be a great choice. I drilled a few of them for some tweeners and they could not believe the reaction they now have with this ball so it means I need to practice some more because they will have more area than anyone deserves with this new one.

Ok, well i got this ball on dec 29th, and used it on the 29th and the 30th. Well i got this ball for some heavy oil, and my pro-shop guy, decided to go with the Storm layout #1, with the pin under the fingers and the Cg in the Pos. and a side hole 45degrees from my pap. And he hit it up with 1000grit.  Well i bowled with it, one a open bowling shot, light to med oil, with carry down from the night before, and the ball works well and hits like a mack truck.  And this ball almost like pivots and then starts to hook, lol. and it hooks very nicely,  well, i am hopping that this ball works cuz my Trauma ER isnt cutting the mustard right now, and my Trauma is hooking a bit too late lol, and my Recovery is drilled like my Trauma except for the Cg on my Trauma is in a weak pos. but anyways, so far i like what i see with this ball and i shall put up a report on this ball on Weds, after i use it that night,

*Another Great Ball from the #1.Ball Company in the World!

#1. The Trauma Recovery has tremendous Hitting Power NO Question!
#2. The Trauma Recovery will turn a strong corner on the Oil!
#3. The Trauma Recovery Must have Oil to work well!
#4. The Trauma Recovery Must have Lot's of Oil to work Well!!!

The Trauma Recovery is a great way to understand way
Particle Balls need Lane Oil in order to perform at their best!

To use this ball make sure your lane condition requires a ball that
will "Dig-In" threw the oil.
If You do not have LOT'S of Lane oil, you will learn or Re-learn the basic lesson of why Particle balls need it!

We found that the Trauma Recover was a very strong ball,
Even with its pearlized particle cover the ball is much stronger
than it feels and looks!

We drilled Our Trauma Recovery with a label drilling and the pin at 2:00

We tested our ball on a typical house lane condition,
and by the time we had finished our 15 minutes of practise time the ball was already starting to showing signs of "Over-Under" and that the track area was already burned up
too much for this ball.

But being a new ball we forced it for two and half games!
It was fun to stand on the gutter caps and send this ball out
over the fourth arrow to the 5 board and watch it come charging back
to the pocket!

As the lanes broke down more we found that we could play deeper and tighter line to the pocket and still get enough hit to carry most shots!

This would be Our "C" game by choice to play this type of shot,
but with a  248 and 249 out of the box on a lane condition
not suited for this ball we where very please!

by the fouth frame of the third game we could not get far enough left, and by the time I was asking permission from the two teams to the left of me
if I could stand in their lane to loft the gutter cap's
I figured enough was enough!

The Trauma Recovery is a very strong ball!!!
It has its place in your bag if you need an excellent Oil ball!
I recommend this ball to anyone who knows how to determine
when enough is enough!
