Title: Trend 2
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on October 08, 2021, 03:23:18 PM
The Storm Trend 2 is another high-performance bowling ball in Storm's Signature line of bowling balls that they have created in collaboration with professional bowler Jason Belmonte. This ball uses an adapted Piston Core that has a lighter density which creates a higher RG and a lower differential. This Piston LD Core offers the bowler more continuation and constant motion. This core is covered with the NRG Hybrid Coverstock. This ball works well on medium oil when the front of the lane starts to dry out but you still need a strong backend.

The Trend 2 is the latest Jason Belmonte signature ball. The Trend 2 has a stronger cover and redesigned weight block than the successful original Trend pearl ball. The piston core has been modified to raise the RG and lower the Differential to create more powerful reaction giving the bowler more continuation through the pins. The NRG hybrid reactive coverstock still allows the ball to be clean through the front of the lanes with a strong move coming off the oil pattern. I tested the ball on a 42 feet THS. As a medium to low rev player, I see this ball being great on medium patterns. I was able to play in the track area and deep inside without any loss of ball reaction or pin carry. The Trend 2 is a must have for league and tournament bowlers. Anticipated release date is October 29, 2021. My ball reviews are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.

WOW…This. Ball. Is. Sick.

I’m a big fan of the motion the Piston core makes.  I enjoyed the uniqueness of the ProMotion.  The OG Trend was also a motion that was unique in my bag.  Finally, this newest incarnation, is the most versatile of the Trilogy.  The nano cover is the same cover that was on the OG PhysiX was a ball that I had multiples of because of all the success that I had with it.  I really liked this cover.
The combination of the this cover along with the modified Piston core, created a monster of a ball.  It’s the perfect combination of skid, strength, and angularity.  There aren’t many balls out there where I am instantly like, “WOW.”
This ball is one of them!

The newest Belmo ball is most certainly his best. The new Trend 2 is a stronger and more angular version of the original Trend. It’s a step up in overall hook and is a ball that will allow you to play steeper angles without losing hitting power and continuation through the pins. Trend 2 has the NRG Hybrid cover and a modified Piston core. Trend 2 will look good on a variety of conditions and will give you a new option for moving left without seeing the ball burn too soon or lack “pop” down lane. This ball also will bridge the gap between the stronger earlier balls like Axiom or Proton Physics and the mid-range type balls like the Electrify or Hyroads.

The newest collaboration between Storm and Jason Belmonte is here! Who else is excited?!

The Trend 2 features a redesigned core from the Trend, wrapped in a hybrid cover stock. These changes have lowered the differential to an 0.041, which makes this ball smoother than the original Trend. I compared these two balls in my YouTube ball review, and the Trend 2 is a little bit earlier and will give you a more rounded motion. I actually thought this ball would be earlier than it is, so I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it gets through the fronts. The Trend 2 is a ball I will throw right after the Zen, but before I get into the Trend and then the Hustle series. Belmo hits another home run with his signature ball!

Trend2 is a new look from the Belmo line. Definitely hooks a lot down lane with a very continuous motion. The cover still allows you to move in and handle the higher volume in the middle without any problem. A step down ball for me from the top shelf Proton Physix and Axiom. Definitely a ball that fills a spot in any league or tournament bag.

The newest collaboration with Jason Belmonte has us with a lower differential core and the NRG Hybrid cover. The Piston LD core has numbers of 2.54 for the RG and 0.041 for the differential. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3, which is also the same drilling that I have in my Trend. My first impresses of this ball is that it is very similar to the Trend as far as ball motion but after awhile I started to see the differences. The Trend 2 is a couple of boards stronger and actually more off the end of the pattern. The Trend was very smooth for a pearl and the Trend 2 picks up the lane sooner but is more in the back. I can see myself using the Trend 2 a little more than I did the Trend because of the stronger cover and the extra motion it gives me in the back part of the lane.

Every once in a while, you get a unique new ball to drill up that rocks your world. A ball that, out of the box, is simply poetry off your hand! You know. The kind of ball that makes you remember why you love the game so much! A ball that makes you think, "Hey, I guess I'm not that bad of a bowler after all!" Well, the new Storm Trend 2 was precisely that for me! So, let's take a closer look at the fantastic results the Trend 2 provided on a THS.

The heart of the Trend 2 is the new lightweight Piston Core. To go beyond its tech specs is to say this core has a fantastic ability to rev and roll from the moment it leaves your hand. The Piston Core is smooth through the heads and revs in the mid lane with a constant heart-pumping rhythm. I loved how the Piston Core had a brisk turn off the pattern and rolled with a distinct authority to the pins. Further, this symmetric core has a vibrant and robust continuation through the pin deck that leaves nothing standing in its way! For a high-speed/low-rev player, you couldn't ask for anything more!

Hybrid Covers give you the best of both worlds in coverstocks, and the NRG Hybrid Reactive Cover completes the top-notch quality of the Trend 2. Out of the box, the NRG Hybrid provided the reaction I needed all night. Early on fresh oil, this cover had excellent traction throughout the lane without burning up its energy as it made its turn towards the pins. As the night progressed, the NRG hybrid read the changing lane conditions quite effortlessly. It also provided a smooth motion off the pattern all night. I like how this cover kept its predictable movement and stable reaction as I moved inside, targeting 18. For a high-speed/low-rev player to move in with that much confidence speaks volumes to this cover's ability to keep you in the game!

My conclusion of the Trend 2 is to praise this brilliantly designed new release by Storm. Further, I would say you don't have to be a high-rev, two-handed superstar like Jason Belmonte to score with this ball either! The Trend 2 is truly a game-changer for an older, high-speed, low-rev player like me. It brought a refreshing excitement back to my game. But, more importantly, it elevates the fever to win, which keeps you coming back week after week. So, talk to your local pro shop owner and have a Trend 2 drilled up for your next league competition. And see for yourself why Trend 2 belongs in your arsenal!

I have been extremely impressed with the new Trend 2. I did not get the opportunity to throw the Trend, so I don’t have much of a comparison with the Trend. The Trend 2 is clean throw the fronts and has a great smooth backend motion. The Trend 2 has a strong backend motion and a shape that gets the throw the pins and keeps going. I threw the Trend 2 out of the box but have recently hit it with 3000 and really like the motion the ball picks up a bit sooner and seems to blend a little better without jumping off the spot due to the polish. For me the Trend 2 is going to be a great transition ball. Not necessarily a ball down or up but a switch in motion that can blend out the pattern or the burn and get through the pins getting better carry. The Trend 2 is going to be a great addition to any style of play.

I decided to compare the newest Belmo ball to the Zen because many reviews are talking about it in the same breath as the Zen. I get that. It’s shiny, yet still a bit early, and it’s pretty strong. I think it’s pretty obvious in the video I get a bit more easy length and pop put of the Zen. The Trend 2 seems to want to dig a bit more even with the super shiny box finish on its NRG Hybrid cover (also on a favorite of mine - Physix). My Trend 2 really sees the back part of the lane and kind of locks up and rolls through the pins. This was alleviated mostly by really getting left and opening up the angles (maybe even more than normal which speaks to the overall strength of this ball). Although I like filming box surface first for these comparisons because 9/10 bowlers will probably leave it box, I now have the surface at about 2000. For me, the Trend 2 is more useful and more controllable with the surface. The surface also serves to provide more separation compared to other similar balls in our line.

I drilled up my TREND 2 at 4.5 x 25 and threw it at box finish. The idea is to compare to a couple of other trusted pieces that tend to come out when I think the TREND 2 should be in play. These are the ZEN and IDOL SYNERGY. First thing I noticed about the TREND 2 is it glides fairly easily thru the fronts no matter how chopped up they seem to get. My ZEN is a go to when I need something to pick up and the bigger balls are sluggish looking in the back ends. As predicted. the ZEN was earlier than the TREND 2 for me. I keep my ZEN at a light 2000. They do play off each other well as my TREND 2 gets slightly longer and has that ZENlike pop on the backend. IDOL SYNERGY plays off the TREND 2 as well getting more length when the TREND 2 is starting to check too quickly or go forward too fast. I did also try the HYPED HYBRID. It was after the TREND 2 was slowing down too much. I had to be more precise with it speed wise than going to the IDOL SYNERGY but that is another review. If you been skeptical about the Belmo releases (I was because my rev rate is about half of Jason's), this ball will get your attention. I have been able to get it up the lane or get around it some more and get it back and still have strong hit with it.

The Trend 2 is the 5th signature line ball produced by Storm in collaboration with Jason Belmonte. It features a modified piston block that was originally in the Pro Motion and Trend. This new block has a significantly lower differential and higher RG which in combined with the NRG hybrid cover produces significantly more down lane shape than the original Trend. I personally was not a big fan of the Trend, the R2S pearl cover was too quick/low friction to play really straight but as soon as I tried to chase it left, it wanted to go too forward off the end of the pattern due to how much the piston block wants to get into a roll. I see absolutely none of these problems out of the Trend 2. The first night of using it in this center, I managed to snag a couple of pot games and the eliminator win. Since then, it’s become a staple in my league bag for game 3 and has paid for itself multiple times over. When compared to the Axiom Pearl, the Trend 2 is a quite a bit cleaner and sharper off the end of the pattern. I could see myself going to the Trend 2 when I need to jump a zone left after the Axiom Pearl starts slowing down too quickly. When compared to the Hyroad, the Trend 2 is a touch earlier and rounder off the end of the pattern. The Trend 2 is now available for purchase in your local Storm VIP pro shop!

The piston core was altered in the latest version of the Trend featuring a higher RG and lower differential. Also, we see a hybrid cover on the Trend 2. I was a fan of the original Trend when I wanted to keep my angles in front of me. I do find the Trend 2 to be usable for more bowlers as it gives a rounder shape compared to the original which was more angular. You're able to wheel the Trend 2 more and this will be good on fresh or some transition on those medium to higher oil conditions.

The Trend 2 uses the same Piston Core as the Trend, and uses NRG hybrid cover. Like the Trend, the Trend 2 has no problem getting down the lane with ease, but what separates the Trend 2 is the backend reaction. This ball picks up sooner, and is about 5-6 boards more on the backend. I added a light 2000 to mine, it has become a great benchmark ball for me. I can throw it all 3 games of league without having to make any major adjustments.

The new Jason Belmonte signature line ball is the Storm Trend 2.  I personally think each of his bowling balls have just gotten better with each new release.  The Trend 2 is really good and the best ones out of the signature line!  I drilled mine with a 5 inch pin down and took the shine off with a 3000 pad. WoW this ball hooks.   The piston core was altered in the latest version of the Trend featuring a higher RG and lower differential with a Hybird coverstock ( NRG Hybrid Reactive).  This by far is the best Belmo that Storm has produced.  More overall hook than I expected.

The Trend 2 continues the trend of great bowling balls in the signature line from Storm. The Trend 2 is very clean through the fronts and makes a strong backend motion down lane. I decided to knock the polish off this ball, and it was great at blending the shot for me when I felt I didn’t have a shot out there. The Trend 2 is a ball that can be enjoyed by anyone of any skills level. Don’t forget this ball looks absolutely stunning going down the lane. If you haven’t already picked up yours, today make sure you get out there and get one!

Storm Trend 2 Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

The latest addition to the Signature Line at Storm is the Trend 2.  As most of us know, Jason Belmonte and Storm have put their expert minds together to develop a series of equipment.  After drilling the entire series and seeing each of the different shapes, the Trend 2 is the one I’m most excited about.  After making changes to the coverstock and engine, I’ve noticed a quicker response time along with plenty of coverstock to dig in the oil.

I’ve drilled one Trend 2 so far and really like it.  I mapped it out as 4.5 x 4 x 75.  This puts the pin above my bridge and I also lightly scratched the surface with a 3000 pad.  It’s been a perfect compliment to some of the asymmetrical balls like the Proton Physix and Reality.  I’ve had the most success using the Trend 2 when the pattern stretches, the lanes blend out, and I need to stand left / throw right.  I’ve also seen all types of players have success with this ball.  Some of the straighter players like it because of how hard it changes direction down lane and the high-rev guys like it because of how much angle it creates when patterns blend out.

If you need to upgrade your bag with new technology in a collaboration between Storm and Belmo, go drill a Trend 2!

The Trend 2 features the NRG hybrid cover with a modified version of the Piston core from the Pro Motion and Trend in the Piston LD, RG of 2.54 and differential of .041 in 15 pounds.  The Trend 2 is a bit of a paradox, the core strength is squarely medium, and NRG is a fairly strong cover.  This IS the sharpest, quickest, or most responsive NRG ball I’ve ever thrown, which is what throws the wrench in.  It’s not strong rolling or fast revving, it gives you a bit of extra length up front but it doesn’t float like a Hyroad, it starts winding up at about 30 feet, and then just continues to continue or climb.  The cover gets plenty of traction and creates quite a bit of shape, but it’s not jerky, it’s fairly hard to describe, it’s almost like a stronger and a bit earlier Hyroad.  It gives you the length to play straighter, but the traction and climbing continuous motion, plus the shape to wheel it from deep.  It’s incredibly versatile, and I think it’ll be the most commercially successful Belmo ball to date.

Trend 2 is the best Belmo ball ever.  At first I thought it was really clean, but it’s sneaky strong.  It never missed the spot and always made a smooth continuous backend.  The Trend 2 has a mid RG but a strong cover and the result is a very unique piece.  It has no problem getting through the fronts but always hooks!

The Trend was super clean for me and need a ton of friction to get started, but the Trend 2 does NOT have that problem, it handles the oil and is the ideal benchmark ball on the fresh

The Trend 2 has more entry angle than the original Trend and Belmo was right when he said you can move deeper without losing drive through the pocket. I don’t see this ball quitting on you when you must get deeper than the others you are bowling against. If you are the type of bowler that plays the deep part of the lanes or someone that needs this kind of motion when you are forced way right or left than this is the ball for you.

55 x 5 x 30 on the layout

Axis point is 4 7/16 over and 3/8 up. Revrate in the upper 300s, ball speed between 15 and 16 mph. I typically like to start at 15 on a typical house shot and migrate in from there.

Initial reaction...the colors on this ball are super bright and the scent is lovely. It will certainly freshen up the bag.

On to the review:

In the past, I haven't had too much success with the Belmo releases. After having the opportunity to throw this at our Matchmaker in Port Huron, MI, it really was eye opening! I could get seemingly unlimited to the left and it would recover from just about anywhere. After this, I made the decision to order and drill one up for myself. I put the same layout on the new one and hit the lanes.

On the fresh, this ball was very strong off the spot, almost to a fault. Because of how my rev rate and speed match up, this ball just wanted to face up way too quick off the end of the pattern (a common problem with the piston core for me). This caused inconsistent ball reaction and not a enough forgiveness for my liking. After this, I hit the cover with a 3000 pad and then used it on the broken down pattern, moving into the 20 range at the arrows. This seemed to be more of the sweet spot for this ball for me....hitting the pocket almost at will! To me, this ball seems to be a much more responsive version of it's predecessor.

This super-strong hybrid cover wrapped around the piston core seems to be a much better matchup for speed dominant players. If this accurately describes you, I think you will definitely like this as a benchmark piece.

Storm Trend2 - Layout: 45 x 6 x 45 - 1500 grit polished
Ball test conditions: Practiced on 44ft THS on SPL and 46ft THS on older HPL
My findings: During warm-ups the Trend2 went into transition from skid to hook a tid bit sooner then the Global Zen and the OG Trend. After a few games on the lanes, I needed to move my feet and break point farther outside the normal track area, for the fact that once it caught the carry down lane conditioner, it ball started to respond later and later, less "hook" in the back end and once I moved out into the lighter oil on the pattern, the original reaction that my eyes liked was back. Felt and seen I need to play more close angles to allow the ball to read and roll correctly for myself. On the short time I bowled on HPL with the ball, the surface of the lane patterns made a HUGE difference, Was able to open up the lane a lot better and was able to keep a good look down lane even as the pattern changed, was able to migrate my normal way inside and away from the area everyone was using during our practice session. Ended up like the Storm Trend2 on the HPL then on SPL.

We have been big fans of all the signature releases from Storm. If you didn’t get a chance to try out the original Trend, many did due to the release date and COVID shutdowns, you can jump right into the action with the Trend 2. Out of box this thing gets down the lane and HOOKS. It is a similar shape to the original Hy-Road, which as you know has been around for a long time because it is simply that good. This ball is a good mix of both bowlers and really fits any type of lane condition with some surface adjustments. If you get a chance to try this ball out it is a must, and it smells nice!

The Storm Bowling Trend 2 is truly just "different". I drilled mine 70x5x80 and the versatility of this ball is unbelievable. I can play from 2nd to 6th arrow comfortably. What catches my eye is how the ball acts at the pins...consistently going through the 8-9 or through the center of the 8 pin at least 85% of the time. Maybe it's just a great matchup, but I'm truly impressed. The hybrid cover seems to do all the right things and is an absolute house shot killer. There's not a single style I wouldn't recommend this ball for.

This is the best Belmo ball yet!  It is super versatile and has great shelf appeal.  In the Storm lineup I have it cleaner/longer than the Phaze 3 and much more back end continuation!  This ball takes surface changes really well and will be best used on medium/heavy oil!  If you were a fan of the Trend this ball is more more angular and usable on more conditions!  She smells great too!

I’ve been throwing the Trend 2 for a few weeks now. House shot, Challenge Patterns and Sport Shots. The common thread in all cases is how well the ball reacts off the end of the pattern.

I opted to go with a layout that ultimately ended with the pin drilled out. This gives me more of the “pin under” feel through the skid phase, but I get an extended hook phase without losing the powerful angle off the end of the pattern. Credit the hybrid NRG cover for a some of that too!

The Piston LD Core gives me that same tight, medium flare I’ve seen on the original Trend, the Axiom (solid) and the ProMotion. All balls that have been, at one time or another, staples in the bag. Like those balls, the Trend 2 is proving to be dependable when I’m in trouble. When big asymms are slowing down too early and fast symmetrical cores are creating crazy over/under, this Trend 2 has managed some pretty tough patterns and allowed me to stay in contention and saved a few cuts for me already!

The latest and greatest collaboration between Belmo and Storm. Introducing the brand-new Trend 2. With a modified Piston Core, wrapped with the NRG Hybrid reactive cover, this Trend 2 is arguably the best one oiut of the Belmo/Storm collaboration series. We saw out of the original Trend a pearl option that you can play straighter with when it came to the fronts hooking early and a development of friction to the right, the Trend was the perfect option for those situations.
When players need a stronger option to go left (if you’re right handed) the Trend 2 is the perfect option. What I see out of the Trend 2 is being clean but controllable down lane and not a hockey stick type of motion. This ball will be really good for flatter patterns when players need a cleaner option, but also something that’ll be more controllable in the back end. Be ready to pick your’s up at your Local VIP Pro Shop’s when this hits the market!

Storm continues its collaboration with Jason Belmonte with the newest piece, the Trend 2.  This hybrid incorporates NRG with the revamped core that produces a high RG 2.54 that really creates a motion that is very clean thru the front.  I drilled mine with 4-1/4” pin, pin high over ring finger that produced a clean motion thru the front with a moderately strong motion on the backend.  What I noticed from this piece is that the continuation is actually an upgrade from the original Trend.  I had recently punched up the new Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid and in comparison, the Trend 2 is cleaner with less backend than the Hyped Hybrid which is a great complement where I can stay in the Trend 2 longer if the fronts are too aggressive for the Hyped to clear.  Great color combination makes it easy to read the ball, another great transition piece to consider adding to your arsenal.   Scheduled to be released oct 29th!

Storm Trend 2 Ball Review

I have thrown the last three Belmo signature releases: the ProMotion, Trend, and latest the Trend 2. At first glance the piston core with a stronger cover was something I wanted to try since I like medium strength pieces. I just couldn’t match up with how strong the Spec cover was with the lower volume house shots in the area. Next up into the arsenal was the Trend. I drilled it with a higher pin placement to help with the weaker pearl cover. This was very conditional for me. The cover was too weak for me on the area house shots and ended up not using it very much.

After seeing the videos for the Trend 2 I was excited about the adjustment to the core but most of all about the NRG Hybrid cover. My favorite ball, the Physix, had the same cover. This ball does not disappoint. For me it rolls like a stronger version of the original HY-Road. When my Zen becomes too early and lazy down lane I can move right into the Trend 2 and play in the same area for a longer period of time. With the stronger cover and even with the polish I have not had to adjust the cover. Usually shiny pieces have a tendency to have some over/under characteristics on some house shots but not with this core/cover combination.

If you'd like to see how this ball rolls for me just click the link to my video ball review on my YouTube channel.

The Trend has been a staple in my league bag since the release date. It has always been my go to ball when i need to play around second or third arrow. Once the lanes start to open up I usually have to change balls and move left.

The Trend  2 gets to about the same breakpoint for me but is very very  responsive off the spot.
I am about 5/6 boards left with the Trend 2. This will allow me to move left and open up my angles without losing the back end.

I feel like the Trend series is great for many different styles. With being a symmetric weight block it allows for great roll for many different speeds , rev rates and ages.  This is going to be a must have for any bowler looking to improve there scores.

Storm Trend 2 Ball Review

Hey everyone, I’m back with another ball review, and this time it’s for the Storm Trend 2 and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the NRG Hybrid Coverstock and comes 1500-grit polished with an RG of 2.54 and a Diff of .041.
Layout for this ball is 4 X 4 X 2
This ball is everything I thought a ball with Jason Belmonte’s name on it would do. Go down lane and turn left! For the players like me that are rev challenged this ball will not disappoint. When the OG Trend came out and I threw it I was shocked that I can cerate that much angle and this Trend 2 does the same. I found the Trend 2 to be a touch stronger and made me move left into a zone I done get to much on fresh. This ball checks off all the marks from performance to smell this ball will fit in your league and tournament bags.
BOWLER STYLE: RH - Power Stroker Rev Rate: 320 Ball Speed: 15-16 PAP: 4 7/8 right 5/8 up.

The Trend 2 is the newest “Belmo Ball” in Storm Bowling’s line up. There is always a handful of hype behind the Belmo balls and they always seem to create a ton of controversy in the bowling community as to whether or not they are actually good or just sell because of the name printed on them. I personally LOVED the ProMotion more than any of them and also really enjoy the OG Trend. The Trend 2 is proving to be a great compliment to its predecessor the OG Trend. It covers a surprising amount of boards for me which is exactly what I needed in my bag right now. When everyone is standing right and burning up the outside the Trend 2 allows me to move inside of them without losing any traction. As Luke Rosdahl mentions in his YouTube review “it isn’t really a step down or up from the OG Trend, it is more of a step sideways” this is why they complement each other so well, especially on modified house shots or sport shots. The OG Trend has gotten quite a bit of play time on sport shots.

The latest and greatest Storm and Belmonte collaboration is the best one yet! Trend 2 features the Piston Core in which Storm lightened the density of the weight block to create a higher RG with a lower differential. This combination gives more continuation off the end of the pattern with the core dynamics concentrated in this range. This ball is an absolute beast, I have thrown this ball in every single tournament I have bowled in the past few months, I cannot seem to take it out of my hands. This ball will be great for bowlers of all styles and abilities, go out and get yours today!

The new collaboration between Belmonte and storm has to be the best to date so far. This new hybrid cover in the piston core complements each other so well in the Trend 2. This ball is not just for high rev rate or 2 handed players. This ball is versatile for any style of bowling. Don't miss out on Jason Belmonte new Signature ball. Get to your local pro shop and put your favorite layout on this ball, and you'll be off to the races.

COMMENTS

The Storm Trend 2 bowling ball is an intriguing one. Not only because it has Jason Belmonte’s insignia on it, but also because of The Piston LD Core and NRG Hybrid Reactive coverstock. The higher RG of this core helps the ball to get down the lane easier while strong NRG coverstock has no problem fighting higher volumes of lane conditioner on the lanes. Many people can find this ball to be a very good benchmark ball.

I drilled my Trend 2 quite strong: 65 x 4 ½ x 30. With this layout, it flares a little bit more than I expected. It seems like the strong coverstock and the amount of flare makes this ball “read” the mid-lane very strong, which results in a very smooth and “forward” motion down the lane. With the layout that I chose, the Trend 2 seems to be a little bit “in between” for me. I can see where this ball can be very useful, so I am looking forwards to drilling another Trend 2 with a pin-down layout.

In my opinion, Trend 2 can be very good on longer patterns where you don’t want to give up the “pocket” very much. It is also very useful on some medium patterns on slicker lane surfaces when straighter launch angles are required. Trend 2 works great for me on a “house” pattern because it blends the ‘over/under’ reaction very well. I can see higher rev-rate bowlers really liking this ball as well as bowlers that have a little more axis of rotation.

Storm Trend2

Rev Rate: 325 rpm
Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume)
Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

The Storm Trend2 utilizes NRG Hybrid coverstock along with the Piston core.  This Piston core has a lower differential than the one used in the Trend.  The lower diff prevents the Trend2 from being too strong on the back end.  The Trend2 already has some teeth on the front end due to the NRG coverstock.  I have seen this ball used by various bowlers in tournaments and it has looked really good on most conditions.  The Trend2 reminds me a lot of the Axiom Pearl.  I don’t think you need both in your tournament bag.  #Stormnation

Where the original Trend had a smooth down lane motion for a pearl, the Trend 2 has a tremendous amount of downlane traction. I would not quite call the motion skid-flip, though – I would classify it as a strong, hard arc. It is great for moving left and opening the lane up after the big solids and asyms have opened the pattern up. I would place it as being at home on anything from medium-light to medium-heavy lanes; it has too much traction to use on true dry lanes.  For me, the Trend 2 fits perfectly between the Idol Helios and the Electrify Solid.

Coverstock:  NRG Hybrid

Layout:  70 x 5 x 30
RPM:  360 (Left Handed)

I was intrigued while watching the videos of fellow staff members throwing the Trend 2.  I, at first, was hesitant to drill one up as I did not really match up with the original Trend.  Let me say am I glad that I gave this one a chance.  I laid the ball out the same as I had on my original Trend, as I am looking for a piece that will allow me to get in more than I usually comfortable and still be able to make the corner down lane with my relative moderate rev rate.  This ball gives me exactly what I was looking for, it gets down the lane really easy and when it sees friction it makes a very strong move, coming in strong enough to slap out the 7 pin.

After drilling and loving the trend I was excited to drill the Trend2 and it did not disappoint.  The original was a pearl and was very clean down lane and smooth of the spot. The trend2 for me is a tad earlier and definitely stronger on the back but predictable and controllable. Loving this new piece I can be very versatile and would use on a house or tournament pattern

Review:
We have been big fans of all the signature releases from Storm. If you didn’t get a chance to try out the original Trend, many did due to the release date and COVID shutdowns, you can jump right into the action with the Trend 2. Out of box this thing gets down the lane and HOOKS. It is a similar shape to the original Hy-Road, which as you know has been around for a long time because it is simply that good. This ball is a good mix of both bowlers and really fits any type of lane condition with some surface adjustments. If you get a chance to try this ball out it is a must, and it smells nice!

Storm Trend 2 Review

Rev Rate: 375
Ball Speed: 15-16 mph
PAP: 5 inches over, 1/2 inch up
Layout: 60x5x30

Part 2 of the Jason Belmonte Trend series, this ball is another out of the park success. The Trend 2 is a step up from its original counterpart. The original Trend had a smoother, less violent reaction downlane. The Trend 2…it HOOKS! The stronger cover and modified core gives it more versatility which allows you to have more options in your plan of attack. This ball has turned out to be my favorite in the bag right now. If you’re not starting off with this ball, it will be a great step down to your higher end equipment or a definite step up from your lower end pieces. The Trend 2 is a wonderful addition to the Storm Family.

Strom Trend 2

NRG Hybrid Coverstock

Piston LD Core

I drilled my Trend 2 4x55 and sanded to 3000. Just enough to get the polish off. I tend to do better with high grit sanded hybrids.

Right out of the box I saw much more motion from the Trend 2 than I saw from the original Trend...earlier, stronger, smoother reaction.

For me this one is a solid 1st ball out of the bag option on a typical house shot. Also can help smooth out the reaction when you see wet/dry conditions.

I hope the Piston Core stays around for a long time!

The Trend 2 is the latest Signature Series entry from Storm.  Once again Storm and Jason Belmonte collaborated and came up with this great new release.  The Trend 2 features an all-new Piston LD Core and the NRG Hybrid coverstock.  The RG at 15lbs is 2.54 and the differential is .041 and is finished a 1500 grit polished.  This ball is a definite upgrade from the original Trend.  For me it is about 7 boards left with my feet and five boards left at the arrows.  Not only does the Trend 2 start to read the pattern sooner, it also has a much stronger backend motion.  Where the original Trend was more of an arcing motion, the Trend 2 is more a skid/flip reaction.  Bowling on a cliffed house shot is not a problem for this ball.  It definitely blends out the pattern better than its predecessor.  It seems like each release that is put out in the signature line is better than the ones before it.  The Trend 2 is no exception to this!  ]

Storm's newest collaboration with Jason Belmonte is called the Trend 2. Its got great shelf appeal with it's Indigo/Black/Rose color scheme. The modification they've made to the piston core for this version definitely sets it apart from the original Trend

They wrapped this ball in NRG Hybrid which definitely causes the ball to read the lane sooner than the original Trend. I feel like this makes the Trend 2 useful much sooner as the original would usually look best once you had developed some friction to the outside of the lane.

The Piston LD Core makes this ball smooth but still very continuous. I feel like the combination fits particularly well in houses with a more medium houseshot. This is definitely a ball you can stay in through the transition. The finish/cover combo gives you enough midlane motion to throw it on your average fresh house pattern but still gives you the continuation to throw it left to right as they break down.
