- Description: Since the release of the Virtual Gravity, Storm has been inundated with positive feedback and inquires of future designs. The combination of the Gravity Shift and Virtual Gravity gave bowlers a look that they had never seen before on heavier oil mid-lane control with explosive back-end reactions. One of the greatest features is their adaptability on changing back-end motion depending on the layout chosen. Our intent with the Virtual Energy is to utilize the early revving motion and explosive back-end characteristics of the Shape-Lockâ„¢ HD core, along with the performance proven R2Xâ„¢ coverstock. The coverstock is the key element to this equation and engineering the right blend of solids and pearls to create the perfect compliment to its predecessors.
Overview:
The testing phase brought several factors into play. We tested several coverstock combinations with the profilometer, as well as, on-lane C.A.T.S. testing. Our goal was to develop a ball that utilizes the best characteristics of its predecessors as well as creating its own unique performance. Our final product is the R2X™ Hybrid. The combination of the two pearls and a solid reactive delivers the perfect fit within our product line. The solid generates just enough mid-lane read on the heavier volume patterns, while the two pearlized parts deliver the strong motion on the back-end. The Virtual™ Energy is the perfect complement to Storm’s Premier line of bowling balls.

The Virtual Energy is an excellent ball to change to after using the Virtual Gravity. When the oil breaks down in the front part of the lane, the Virtual Energy is an excellent way to get that great backend reaction while being able to push through dry heads. Its very versatile and can be used on a variety of angles. I was able to play straight up the boards even though this ball has such a high hook potential, it retained its energy very well. Basically the ball has the same high amount of backend that the Virtual Gravity has, without being too strong when the oil breaks down.

I have my virtual energy dilled pin under middle finger, cg to the left of palm and the mass bias to the left an inch of the thumbhole.. This ball rolls so strong through the burn but still clean with a nice arc on the end..  This storm ball hits Like a truck!!

This ball is amazing. The hitting power is a freight train. My energy is pin below the bridge and the cg kicked off the midline about a 1/2 inch. The pin is 2-2.5 inches. The ball has so recover on any pattern even on miss hits. The is very versatile. It works good up the gutter and very very well when needing to open up the lane.  The a game for this ball is swinging the lane. This ball is unbelieveable. You have to see it to believe it. This ball has been used on house and sport shots. Will hook on almost anything. Get one of theses in your hands.

very good ball very versatile and great choice for any bowler on any condition.  very strong and consistent in the back end really gets down the lane.

Good ball from storm and not a bad core design from Hank, lol. Drilled mine up 45-5-50 and it is the first thing out of my bag once the lanes open up. I will say there is less friction on the lanes I bowl on (Pro Lanes) than most out there or it may be the first out of my bag period. It has a place in my bag and plenty of hook if that is what your looking for. I still need to take it to my other house and do some more test as it is a keeper in my opinion.

This ball is an extremely versatile ball. My VE is drilled 4x3 pin under the ring finger and this ball rolls very VERY strong. I was unsure how i was going to like this ball at first because it rolled pretty early for me with the pin under drilling, but once I bowled on a heavy volume shot this ball had enough length to get through the heads and roll hard on the backend. I now am extremely happy with this ball and the versatility this ball has.

Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/2(pin buffer)

This layout for me pushes the pin above the bridge about and inch above the fingers with the MB directly next to the thumb.  Since this closes the angles between the two it stores alot of energy for the back part of the lane.  Given that this is also a hybrid ball, when dulled it becomes more even but still has a higher response to the breakpoint.

Overall the Virtual Energy is a great fit between a Virtual Gravity and the Hyroad.  It will allow you with a descent enough layout, and at box finish, to move in on some house shots and will have enough push through the heads to play the shim on most college patterns when you have to move left.

This ball for me in drilled pin up above the fingers. This ball pushes down the lane and then snaps back hard to the pocket. It is perfect for any lane condition either a house shot or sport shot. This ball is great when you just need that little extra backend reaction.

i am a bowler at William Paterson University and we are sponsored by storm

the virtual energy is a great ball. i got it a couple of weeks ago and it worked really well for my on med conditions lanes. when the lanes were flooded with oil i couldn't really get a solid shot, but once they broke down the ball was perfect so i would say get the bowl for med lanes and I'm sure your score will be good.

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!!!! This has got to be the most angular ball I have ever thrown! This ball reads a ton of mid-lane, and has a backend reaction that just won't quit! For those second shift leagues when carry down is significant, pull this ball out and laugh at how much carry you have while everyone else is crying about how much carry they lack. Either get this ball or get got by someone with this ball!!!!

I have had this ball for 3 weeks. The ball is drilled with pin over ring finger and with a balance hole. This ball is amazing. I can play the big hook or by adding just a little speed I can play a tight line and it will hold. Love this ball. Another great ball by Storm. As I tell my opponents-"A Storm is brewing  better bring your foul weather gear and your money"

For starters I'm a palmer (no thumb) and a cranker with fast speed. I ordered this ball with the anticipation that it would be my heavy oil ball, but my Rapid Fire Pearl outhooks it, so this became my back up ball. I was frankly disappointed by this ball's reaction but after a few weeks I found the proper wrist adjustment and this ball just dominates the lanes with incredible pin action so it had now become one of my all time faves. The ball's true strength comes in when the lanes are broken down and my RPF overhooks from all positions. And the scent just smells great.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! What is not to love about this ball? This ball was given to me by a friend, he was a left so I had to plug and redrill the ball. It is laid out pretty much bench mark, with the mass bias at 30degrees...this gives the ball good length and the backend is phenomenol! I used it in a house that has short oil 35ft(b/c I wanted to) had to really get inside and basically force speed on the ball(normally 15mph) and when I do that my carry suffers, but not with this ball. When it hit anywhere near the pocket which was most of the night it carried. Then I took it to your ths, 40ft buffed to 45, top hat....and it just ate it up....I had been in a slump for about 3 weeks, no sets above 625(210avg). Only shot 2 sets with this ball....785, 735...guess the slump is over!

Easily the worst Storm product I've ever own, and I"ve thrown many successfully in Regionals and National events.   At box finish, this ball did nothing but push, even when hitting the drier areas, did not want to recover.  This ball was comparable to a worn Spitfire, except the Spitfire finished much harder.   We took it to 4000, and had very little effect (Tried numerous angles to see where, when and IF it would read the lane, and never had a clue.)  Took it to 500, and still had little effect.  Storm Technical says this should be reacting good, but everyone, including the Pro Shop is at a loss for this reaction.   Worst effort by Storm Products, only offset by the poor Storm Technical person I contacted.

This is not a good ball! Mine VE is junk! Out of the box it goes too long leaving a lot of ten pins. I scuffed it with a scotch-brite pad, and it hooks too much. There is no lane condition I was use this ball on. The combo of pearl and solid is a miss. This combo work well on the Hy-road but is a failure on the VE. If you need a ball that hooks less than the VG, buy another and have it drilled weaker, problem solved!
