Over here in Oz I have been informed by my distributor that storm are bringing back the !Q Tour Pearl as a limited edition.
Has anybody else heard heard the same? As I haven’t heard from anyone overseas saying the same thing yet.
Looking forward to having the nugget back in the bag, I’ve missed it!

I still have my original, and I'm still killing with it; Will be interesting to see it again...
-
This would be the 3rd version of the ball in 5 years. Dumb if you ask me.
-
It'll sell like hot cakes. Why not, been wondering why it hasnt been remade...

stop discontinuing it if the numbers are good. Why remake it 3 times if they drop?
-
I thought that was the SONIQ.
At any rate; On one hand I think it’s a bad idea and would rather see the Centripedal 3 core wrapped in R2X like on the Marvel Pearl, yet on the other hand I will be trolled and covered in gasoline for saying such a thing so I’ll go with the remake.
Son!Q is much more front to back. Requires more oil and not as flippy (even though it has a good response to friction).

1st iteration was a gimmicky, quirky gold ball. I think it sold mostly because of the color, and was dq’d pretty quick because the demand wasn’t that high yet.
2nd iteration was a 30th anniversary special edition, just to celebrate a short time event, and once that event was over, the ball was dq’d again, because demand was underestimated.
3rd iteration was another special edition to celebrate the PBA’s 60th anniversary, which was only done as a small run, pro-am only ball. They started selling online for $300-$500 dollars.
Maybe Storm took notice of that?
The demand for a good, lower flaring, pearl with a good cover and a Storm label on it could be more than people think. I know about 5 guys who are waiting for this with great anticipation.

This is where I chime in and say the HB is the best gold ball since the gold Quake.
-
That's not an inaccurate statement . .

Son!Q core has waaaaay different numbers, specifically the differential. The two don't act similar in my opinion.

Luke - Can we expect a 2 month report card on the Son!Q or has it been given away?
-
I can only speak for myself.....but I’m buying at least 2 if they do remake it.
-
Actually forgot about it, yeah I think I need to do that.

the Gold ball stayed in service for over a year. It lasted a good while for today's market. But they could have kept it rolling like the solid if they wanted too. Now, they are playing the consumer and making money doing so. As the ball shouldn't cost more than a Hustle, but consumers will pay double because... well... it smells...

Regardless it's a good ball, you see mallot use it quite a bit on TV, which probably means it's used during the tournament? And probably means other pros ask for it too?
Just saying, it's got a spot!
Anywho I'm glad it might be coming cuz then I can hold off punching my PBA 60! 😎
-
Hope its a unique color, like aquamarine pearl !
-
If it's going to be a remake, they're going to do it just like the Marvel Pearl. I don't think the IQ 30 was that popular because it WASN'T the "gold ball." If they re-release it, it will be the same ball. I wouldn't think they'd do another special edition or something.
-
Between an Ink and Hyroad Pearl in the bag I don't see a need for it personally. Won't be buying it.
-
IQT Gold smashed house shots. Id get one.
-
Consider me a sucker I guess, but I'd probably get 2. My current one has some mileage on it but the cover still is in excellent condition. At 2000 it's been superb on flatter conditions and I've brought it up to 4000 for house conditions. Just a good match up for me personally and very versatile.
-
This ball was the best example of shelf appeal trumping everything else. Every company tried to follow suit with their "Goldie". Rhino Pro Gold, GB "Gold", Widow Gold, Honey Badger, 2 Lord Field/Legends balls.
-
I too found the Hustle Ink to satisfy the hole left from the IQ Tour Pearl. It's definitely found a permanent spot in my bag. Getting away from coverstock solid vs pearl marketing, the ball feels very IQish going down the lane with some decent strength.
Of course there's something to be said about shelf appearance.

My findings as well; It's MONEY for me on anything at 2000. I also agree with other companies' Emulating the original gold ball as well; Although for the most part, they all have come and gone.

!QT Pearl re-release confirmed for OVERSEAS only. :-\
-
I still have my original, and pulled it out the last game when everything else was going high, and BANG, couldn't miss the pocket. Gold ball will never leave my bag.

Doom your making me remember to my younger days when I rolled the purple solid quake and gold pearl AWESOME BALLS

I do what do I can. :)

I agree. The HB is WAY better ball than the IQ Tour Pearl. Cleaner, more angular, works amazingly good with a duller surface and it is way cheaper than the IQ.
And on top of that, the HB won't crack... :-X

HB is obviously much higher RG but tend to agree and love mine. IQ Tour Solid though is the greatest no tap ball in the history of bowling. That ball carries me when I bowl no tap (should have put graphic on side of ball like the Radical Score but with 9/ 9/ 9/9 lol). Since I rarely do sport shots that is about the only time it gets to see competition though. If I was to spend $150+ on another IQ I would go for the fusion instead of the pearl and maybe even instead of the solid if had a do over.

9/ to X could be as simple as plugging a weight hole or raising the surface.
Or throwing it better, which nobody ever mentions in this “modern†era.
It isn’t always the ball.
Not picking out, or on, anyone with this, it is merely an observation I have made that is so different philosophically from when I was learning to bowl. Back “in the dayâ€, if you weren’t knocking out the corners (especially tenpins for righties, or sevenpins for lefties) it was considered that you just weren’t throwing it good enough.
Now days, you leave a seven or a ten, and it is “Change balls†or “Changes surfaces†or “Change linesâ€, when back in the earlier times, it was “Throw it betterâ€.
God forbid that you try to tell anybody these days that they throw it bad. That couldn’t POSSIBLY be the reason they’re not striking.
Nobody throws it bad anymore, they’re just using the wrong ball, with the wrong drilling or surface, at the wrong time.

This. All day this.

Won't argue this point a bit. If anything the ball is doing a good job of getting me 9 instead of even less. In general I tend to do better with at least medium diff (Hy-Road is so perfect) balls so yeah ball is just doing what it was built for and the problem is mostly user error along with a lack of hand. Still far from the first person to complain about that ball being a tap machine but it does get bad shots to pocket about as well as any ball you will find. Other huge advantage ball has is ball doesn't eat up its own shot either. Love how consistent it was for all four games in the no tap tournament I bowled yesterday whereas in the later games started seeing serious over under and very inconsistent scores from the other bowlers on our pair using stronger pieces whose scores went down as mine kept going up. I make fun but that ball probably ended up getting me at least 30+ pins more than any other ball would in my arsenal. It really is the ultimate no tap ball.

What does "throwing it better" mean to you? I am not shy to say when I felt I threw the ball terrible or not good enough. I rarely face calling a particular ball a tap machine, but I have had carry issues before. Once bowled a tournament where I left 5 10 pins in a row. I tried to make an adjustment after the 3 one in a row (trying to avoid the overthinking mentality), but clearly that wasn't the issue. I feel it's more so my ball roll wasn't matching up to that pair, but does that mean to you that I didn't throw it well? This is especially questionable to me on tougher patterns when finding the pocket is already tough enough.

I could try to analyze this all day, but that would only be a fruitless endeavor, as the basic philosophy of bowling theory has changed so much, that many of my comments would probably be deriden by cries of elitism from those who would miss the point entirely.
In short, to “throw it better†harkens to a philosophy that, if you ARE hitting the pocket consistently, and are NOT carrying consistently, then there is a flaw in the way you are doing some aspect of your release that you need to correct to eliminate the carry problem.
It isn’t quantifiable, because it isn’t the same problem for everyone. Some people throw it too fast. Some, too slow. Others “spin†the ball too much, some roll it too early.
“Throwing it better†means the ability to analyze what the problem is, why you are not carrying, and correct it with physical abilities and techniques instead of trying to fix it with equipment.

Understood and I appreciate the input. I have to say there are a ton of bowlers that never try to make a physical adjustment.

And never will try to either.
