Need to File a hole..
« on: September 11, 2009, 02:37:29 AM »
Yes this another wonder what i should get post but so there many choices so little time....So im trying to fill a hole in the ole arsenal. A three ball is all I need don't want too much confusion I just want to keep it simple.

A little about me, probably throwing at somewhere 17 mph and above right now which is increasing as my timing is improving, a revrate around 350. I prefer playing a small swing and staying straighter up the lane.

Hyroad
Reign
?????
XXXL (spares)

My Hyroad is the first out of the bag I can usually stay with it for 2 games depending on the league. I can also use it late if im staying far left and send it out given there is enough oil left in the pattern helps combat the over under well.

My #2 is the Reign. This is very versatile I can stay with this for awhile, however once i start to get a board or 2 beyond 4th arrow i struggle with it. Too much over under as I would expect with the surface and the nature of the ball.

Im looking for something I can use for the burnt up dry and the overreacting wood synthetic combos.

Given my speed Im not really sure if i want to go Urethane unless a stronger layout would help.  I tinkered with a Liberator didnt go so well, so im thinking i should stay reactive.

Not to worry, it comes with the office - The new guy will probably find it in the desk. Do you think this could be a problem? - He started out so well

For what it's worth, I have found the Reign to work well for me at 4000 abralon with a very light coat of polish.  The ball is still really, really clean through the heads and midlane with a lot of pop on the back (it's stupidly angular, especially since I drilled it to be that way!), but it rolls off the friction much more predictably with this surface than the super duper glossy box finish.

Beyond that, I would recommend the Rotogrip Mars if you want to stay with reactive resin.  It has a weaker cover and core than the Reign, but the solid/pearl hybrid smooths things out to keep it from being quite as over/under.  Again, playing with the surface may help since it also comes extremely shiny out of the box.  Valentino's UFO extender polish may be a good idea since the ball doesn't jump off the friction as hard as with regular polish.

Dan i was looking into that ball.

My main objective is being able to square up to the track  and create the angle with where im standing and throwing.

Given my speed dominance I dont want to go too weak.

I used to track within a half inch of my thumb, but I due to changes i have pulled it a good 2 inches off now so im wondering if i should try a pin down drill?

I would say Mars on the weaker side or a Storm Fast...slightly stronger than the Mars but weaker than the Reign.

If you are having over/under issues then you need a Natural...

If you want to stay with storm id go one of two routes here.
1. Get a Natural
2. Get a furious Drill it with a 2" or less pin-pap or a 5.5-6" Pin to pap  and hit it with a 4000 pad then some polish

Mars.
Drill it medium-strong.
If it's too weak, take it to 4000 Abralon.
Still too weak? Take it to 2000 Abralon.
