2 League Arsenal
« on: December 09, 2008, 02:21:02 PM »
So I think im on the right path this with this, so give me a ya or nay or whatever you might think.  Im a rev dominate guy with speed at about 15.

House 1..Fresh shot 5 man league, flooded in the middle, friction area tapers from 15 to 5.  I have pretty much made my mind up on a street rod solid to start out the night.  (which i dont have yet)  After the transition sets in I have had success with switching to my Fired UP as I can open up the lane a lot.

House 2...late shift behind a mixed league.  Here I have had sucess starting with the Fired up, but from there carrydown gets horrendous.  I was thinking about buying a PYRO to help even out the over under.

Im trying to get the most out of my bag with 3 pieces, the simpler the better.

Depends if your going to play the middle where its flooded, if that is your plan I would not go with the street rod. If you want to play right in the oil, then a Virtual, and a Hyroad would be the best 1-2 punch. I just punched up my hyroad and its drilled the same as my virtual (pin up slightly out to the right), and when the virtual goes high, I can change to the hyroad and not move my feet or target, and be right in the pocket.

Not usually playing in the middle, backends are usually flying as they are new synthetics. It seems anyone with the typical deep shot doesnt have much success early on, soft hand and playing the friction seems to end up a lot more playable.

You may also look into the Hy-Road.  With its solid/pearl hybrid cover, it gets through the fronts pretty cleanly, but gives you much more roll and traction in carrydown than the Fired Up.  It should be a very versatile ball.

I havent thrown any hybrids yet.  From what i understand they jury is still out on them as to what surface, polish etc.

I really like the fire line, but I have to admit the hyroad sounds tempting.  Pyro was on my list for 2 reasons.  I had one previously, and I think I found one for cheap.

That's the good thing about a hybrid I would think.  They're very versatile in what you can do with them.  Sand it down and use a strong layout, it'll handle quite a bit of oil.  Polish it up and use a weaker layout, it'll handle higher friction conditions quite well.  That's probably why the Storm staffers on the PBA tour are using the Hy-Road so much.  The one I threw in a Storm Open House session really impressed me.
