Will be interesting to see how this Rocket Ship rolls. Was basically certain that a Match Solid was going to end up in my bag until now.

BillDozer, I had the same issue with my Crux.  Loved my Lock, and didn't want it to be too close to my Crux, so I finished my Crux to 4000.  Now my Crux is my go to ball.

The lock and alpha have been $169.95.  Have you been under a rock the past year? Hammer is is at $170 as well.

Honestly might try Brunswick, it's so much cheaper.  It's literally 3 for 2, especially if u buy clearance.

you can get 3 for 1 on clearance through the distributor. They have to buy so much volume that they have hundreds left over.

Do you need a pro shop link of some sort or can anyone buy them?

you need a business ID or tax number. Start a "pro shop" in your garage and reap the rewards of extremely cheap Brunswick gear. I think I have a distributor that still has Lethal Revolvers.

In 1998 I saved up for 2 months to buy my first high performance ball, An Attitude 3. With grips and slug + tax, it was around $230.

$230 in 1998 has the same buying value as $336.01 in 2016 according to the CPI Inflation calculator. For the performance in relation to current inflation, bowling balls are cheaper than ever. We're lucky that high performance balls aren't $399.99 MSRP.

which was exactly Richie Sposato's point when he priced the Difference. He said he priced it where bowling balls should be priced in 2015. And people balked. Bowling is a cheap man's game.

Bowlers are so cheap, it's mind boggling. I don't give a rats ass if Brunswick balls are priced 10:1, I'm not getting their sub standard stuff. Now, if you like to stay to the right, great, soon as it's time to open up the lane, forget it.

I'm sure the bowling manufactures like the prices where they are. the name of the game these days is arsenal. if balls cost 300  or more I would probably buy 1 new and keep it as long as I could. since most balls are half that price I might buy 3 or 4 in a year and ditch the ones I don't like. who wins in the end?

I just really enjoy punching up new balls...guys are doing really well with the Nirvana's.  Can't speak about much else...I just like the clearance availability.  Like I forgot to scoop up a hyper before they got clearanced...and now they're $225+, marvel pearls, !QTP's are even more!

I'm a bit curious though. Was there something about the Fight that you guys didn't like? Seems like a ball I would need to drill dtronger because the core goes forever.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the phaze or fight, consumers are used to a certain teaction, these are slightly different, I love having a complete bag, not a bunch of the same rolling stuff..

I'm with you on that. My issue is being a college bowler, I have versatile balls in my bag to ensure I won't suffer.

Nothing to do with storm but more to my point of prices being jacked up...just noticed the radical jackpot in the ez use line is now $120...weren't the grease monkeys in the same line around $90 when they came out...just odd the same line and a $30 price hike

The Rocket Power looks kinda likr the Shooting Star. I wonder how close the ball reaction would be seeing how the specs aren't far off either.

I need a slightly weaker hyroad solid...this will do the trick!

Keep in mind you didn't have the internet options then you do now. Rizzos was available then posting in bowlers this month but not like what you have today online.

Buying a bowling ball in 1998 with the markup, drilling, grips etc isn't the same as buying a bowling ball today by itself at near cost.

Online prices has cut into the markup proshops are able to charge. Proshops use to be able to markup your Attitude 3 by a lot more then they can today. So you may have paid $230 for the ball back then but your proshop only paid around $100 for the ball. Now your proshop is paying $150 for the ball and still selling it for $230 drilled with inserts tax etc.

I never paid $200+ for a ball in 199X... No time, no place, no way. Gotta throw the BS flag on that one.

In the fall of 1996 I paid $170 plus tax for a Track Synergy ETS that was marked down from not selling over the summer. That included drilling, inserts, and a thumb slug. In 1997 I got a Defense Zone for $170 plus tax with slug and inserts and wasn't charged for drilling because my brother worked in the shop. Zones at that time were $199 in all of the shops I went to and Quantums were $250.

I agree with Kidlost here....I remember buying my sapphire zone new and paying around 275-300 drilled all said and done.  Even 8-10 years ago when I got back into bowling I paid about 250 drilled for a paradigm
